• Analyze, identify and make recommendations to purchasing standards and procedures for requisitioning, solicitation of bids, and contract administration to ensure best pricing and value.
• Respond to questions and inquiries from Valley Water staff and other agencies, investigating complaints and recommending corrective actions as necessary. Ensure effective communication with stakeholders throughout the procurement process.
• Prepare reports and maintain required purchasing records, preparing documentation as needed for Valley Water.
• Execute related duties and responsibilities as required to support the Procurement and Consultant Contracts Unit and Valley Water’s objectives.

• Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement on the basis of one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.

 

Required License or Certificate

 Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Public Procurement Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC).
• Extensive experience in public sector procurement and contracts management in the State of California. 
• Other Purchasing and/or Supply Chain Management Certifications. Examples include Certified Purchasing Manager, (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

The North Tahoe Fire Protection District is currently accepting applications for current and future job openings from qualified individuals to serve in the role of Defensible Space Inspector. These are seasonal grant-funded positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. These positions are grant-funded, seasonal positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. These positions are returning to the fire district in 2025, and we’ll be hiring three people to operate the chipping crew.  This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  

The Chipping Crew Members work under the direct supervision of the Division Chief of Fire and Life Safety or their designee.  

The primary purpose of this crew is to operate a residential chipping program for the local community. This includes responding to chipping requests, traveling to those addresses with a truck and chipper, chipping the material, ensuring a clean site upon leaving, potentially hauling and dumping the material at a temporary holding site, assisting with loading, and ensuring activities are adequately tracked. The applicant must be comfortable working in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions and lifting objects frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Chipping crew members will also assist with community workdays utilizing the truck and chipper or assisting with cutting and hauling combustible materials and filling green waste dumpsters.

ABOUT THE POSITION

About The Position:

The Position:
The City is recruiting to fill one (1) Assistant City Attorney position. Ideally, the position will be assigned to act as the primary advisor to the City’s Human Resources Department, with additional general municipal areas of work for other departments including but not limited to finance, governance, conflicts of interest, open meetings, and public records.
 
The position is expected to perform a wide variety of legal services ranging from litigation (or litigation management) of  administrative matters (such as internal disciplinary appeals, PERB UPC charges, and CalPERS determinations) to collective bargaining and MOU review/drafting; legal research and drafting opinions; negotiating contracts; drafting disciplinary documents; drafting resolutions and ordinances; providing on-call legal support to all divisions of the Human Resources Department (records, benefits, testing, classification, labor, workers compensation, recruitment, safety, risk management, etc.); and, staffing commission meetings such as the Civil Service Commission and Salary Setting Commission. This position is also expected to perform other duties as assigned.
 
The ideal candidate will have superior legal analytical ability and excellent research, writing and oral communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with City employees, opposing counsel, elected and appointed officials, and members of the public.
 
The ideal candidate will also have experience defending  allegations of misconduct in personnel matters, significant experience advising on human resource issues, including Fair Labor Standards Act, Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, labor negotiations, California Public Employees’ Retirement Law, state and federal benefits/leave laws, state and federal employment-related tax laws, and experience providing training in laws, regulations, policies and best practices in personnel management and workplace misconduct

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE
• J.D. or L.L.B. from an accredited law school;
• Six (6) years recent experience in the general practice of law.  Four (4) years of the qualifying experience must include dealing with municipal, county or state governmental agencies in the State of California;
• One year of supervisory experience is desirable; and
• Trial experience is highly desirable.

CERTIFICATION
• Active member in good standing of the State Bar of California is required;
• Admission to the Federal District Court and Federal Appeals Court Bar is desirable.

LICENSE:
Possession of an appropriate California driver's license is required.

The Technical Infrastructure Division designs and engineers solutions that address and meet the City's strategies built around Smart City initiatives, such as Digital Inclusion and Digital Equity, Public Wi-Fi expansion for Economic Development, Endpoint Modernization and virtualization, Multi-cloud frameworks, and digital analytics to support data-driven decisions. The Technical Infrastructure Division includes citywide wired and wireless network infrastructure, core server infrastructure, public and private cloud infrastructure, and hyper-converged infrastructure. The city seeks motivated engineering-level candidates who are energized by opportunities to maximize their potential by learning new technologies, designing and implementing solutions, and fulfilling smart city initiatives.

Please note that the Enterprise Network Infrastructure Engineer (Enterprise Information Technology Engineer I/II) position is currently on a hybrid telework schedule - working remotely and onsite is subject to change.

Salary Information: The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate's qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Enterprise Information Technology Engineer (EITE) I/II shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

Salary Range including the 5% non-pensionable increase:

• Enterprise Information Technology Engineer I: $121,583.28 - $147,944.16 annually
• Enterprise Information Technology Engineer II: $128,812.32 - $156,942.24 annually

The EITE I/II classifications are represented by the Municipal Employees' Federation (MEF) bargaining unit.
