The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The Parks and Recreation Department is composed of a Director and 22 full-time management positions. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Community Services, Parks, Facilities and Common Greens divisions.

The Parks Division is in charge of planning and maintaining the city’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other landscaping. There are approximately 25 parks and play lots, including Sign Hill Park, which has 60 acres of open space, and Centennial Way Linear Park, a 3-mile pedestrian and bicycle trail. The ideal part-time Park Maintenance Worker will be able to prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks while working cooperatively with a variety of people, consistently ensuring excellent customer service. • Cleans and perform minor repairs to park and recreation equipment, buildings, and related facilities; maintains and prepares athletic fields.

• Assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of the Corporation Yard.

Qualifications:

Under general supervision, Public Works Technicians perform a variety of routine to journey level sub-professional technical, field, and office civil engineering work in a variety of technical areas.

The current vacant Public Works Technician I/II position is in the Road Operations - Permitting Section of the Road Services Division.

The Road Maintenance Division of County of San Mateo's Department of Public Works is responsible for routine and emergency repairs to over 315 miles of road surfaces, culverts, shoulders, drainage facilities, and roadside vegetation on roads within the public right-of-way of San Mateo County's unincorporated districts.

Public Works Technician I is the entry level class of this technical support series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn technical support and County procedures. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This class is flexibly staffed with Public Works Technician II and incumbents are expected to advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualification of the higher-level class.

Public Works Technician II is the journey level class of this series, fully competent to independently perform a variety of responsible technical support duties. This class is distinguished from the Senior Engineering Aide class which is specialized in scope and technical functions.

The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

As an Engineering Technician, you will provide a variety of technical and paraprofessional support to the Public Works Department. Your work will span research, drafting, inspections, site investigations, mapping, permit processing, and data management. You’ll be an essential part of the team that delivers public infrastructure projects and services to the residents of Los Altos Hills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform technical and paraprofessional engineering work related to land development review, encroachment permits, capital improvements, infrastructure design, environmental/regulatory compliance, and field inspection services

• Assist in preparing designs, plans, and specifications for public works projects such as streets, storm drains, sanitary sewer lines, and other projects, which may involve data collection and analysis, field surveys, performing related calculations, drafting, and cost estimates.

• Perform limited project and construction management services for various projects.

• Update and maintain Public Works design and construction standards.

• Investigate and resolve work orders, field problems, and complaints from property owners, contractors, and utility providers; and recommend and implement corrective actions.

• Review and process encroachment permits; and provide customer service at the public counter, by phone, email, and virtual platforms.

• Provide courteous and professional assistance at the public counter, by phone, email, and virtual platforms, and answer questions about building permits and the permit process.

• Regularly update the Public Works website as directed.

• Prepare CAD drawings and update GIS mapping databases.

• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visual materials.

• Inspect public works construction and permit-related activities; prepare field notes; and maintain accurate field inspection reports.

• Conduct plan checks for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, Town standards, and best practices

• Respond to service requests and coordinate with team members to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.

• Record documents with the County and maintain project and permit database.

• Participate in training related to job duties and professional development.

San Mateo County Health is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Complex Care Program Manager. This high-level manager will plan, coordinate, implement and manage activities of County-wide programs and services; recommend, develop, implement and evaluate goals, objectives, policies and procedures; provide leadership and coordination to community groups, public and private agencies, advisory boards and volunteers in planning and implementing programs; and provide highly complex staff support to senior level management.

• Bridges to Wellness: Program that provides care coordination services to individuals with complex needs including individuals experiencing multiple mental health and behavioral health co-morbidities, those who are unhoused or at risk of homelessness, and those who are at risk of avoidable hospitalizations and/or emergency department visits. 
• Homes for Health: Program to place medically fragile individuals experiencing homelessness into subsidized housing.

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  

• Plan, direct, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, services and programs for the care of individuals with complex care needs. 
• Direct, coordinate, and participate in the development and implementation of program goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities that balance both mandated services and public health needs.
• Ensure services are coordinated with programs of other County Health divisions and County departments.

Ideal candidate will possess:

• At least three years’ experience overseeing programs or services for individuals with complex needs including those with substance use disorders, mental health challenges, chronic medical conditions as well as those that are unhoused utilizing a person-centered, recovery-oriented approach. 
• Experience in managing programs with multiple funding streams, including federal, state, and local grants.
• Experience implementing harm reduction principles throughout programmatic services.
• Ability to implement change management principles and practices.
• Experienced with analyzing and presenting data in ways that are easily understandable for a diverse array of audiences.
• Experience developing solicitations for services; developing, implementing, and monitoring contracts; as well as grant administration. 
• Ability to use critical thinking skills to draw upon knowledge base in order to address issues that arise within service delivery systems.
• Experience with compliance with documentation standards, Short-Doyle and/or Enhanced Care Management (ECM) documentation preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite applications including Excel, Power BI, SharePoint.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience as a manager, coach, and leader with a track record of supporting programs and staff and motivating teams with humility to achieve equitable goals and objectives.
• Experience working within a team consisting of licensed providers and non-licensed staff.
• Supervisory experience of case/care management staff. 
• Strong personnel management skills and ability to maintain a leadership position for multiple teams and disciplines.
