The Superior Court of California, County of Alameda is accepting applications for the position of Legal Processing Assistant - Probationary. Under general supervision, the Legal Processing Assistant Probationary receives, examines, prepares, files, processes and maintains a variety of legal documents; assists the public in person and over the telephone; verifies, enters, and retrieves information from automated and manual record keeping systems; and performs other related duties as assigned.

This is the entry-level class in the Legal Processing Assistant series. Assignments are rotated and employees must demonstrate proficiency in more than one activity (files, data input, public counter, new filings, etc.) of the court prior to progression to the next level of Legal Processing Assistant. Legal Processing Assistants are distinguished from courtroom clerks in that the latter perform clerical activities exclusively within a courtroom setting.

A new eligibility list will be established to fill Legal Processing Assistant – Probationary vacancies at various court locations. Legal Processing Assistants may be assigned or reassigned to various locations within the County and work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., as determined by the business needs of the Court.

A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; 2 years general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net). Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. Willingness to work varying shifts and radio dispatching skills.

The City of Pleasant Hill offers a competitive compensation and benefits program.

• Salary: $6,987 to $9,050 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.

The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. THE POSITION: This limited term position supports the Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) in the Police Department to strengthen and enhance services provided to Hayward families to keep youth positively engaged in the community and out of the juvenile justice system. The Lead Program Assistant works with YSFB mental health counselors to provide case management, life skills training, diversion, restorative justice, and other services.
The limited term position is dependent on ongoing funding for the program. Funding has already been secured through FY2026 (June 30, 2026) with the possibility of an extension or permanent funding in FY 2027.

Under administrative direction, and reporting to the City Manager, this position has
overall responsibility for planning, organizing, directing and supervising the Finance
Department, which encompasses activities such as financial analysis, accounting,
payroll, purchasing, investment and internal audit. The incumbent manages and
coordinates the work of professional, technical and clerical staff; directs the
preparation of the biennial operating budget and capital improvement program (CIP)
and monitors and prepares reports of both spending plans; prepares financial

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is an executive management level classification and member of the City’s Senior
Management Team. The incumbent is expected to provide prudent, timely, and

and City Council on all financial, risk management and MIS matters, and has frequent
interaction with staff and leaders of other departments, the City Manager, the Mayor,
the City Council, and citizens. The incumbent works as an integral member of various

The incumbent has a broad range of independence within policy and procedural
limitations, works under minimal supervision and is accountable to the City Manager for

• Develop efficient practices and utilize technology to streamline procedures while ensuring adequate internal controls within the Department, and other City functions.
• Ensure safeguard of warrants and control of signature authorities.
• Develop and manage the City’s investment strategy, evaluate investment results, and report on the City’s investment portfolio, ensure that the investment of funds meet generally acceptable accounting principles, standards, and legal requirements.
• Oversee the closing of the general ledger, ensuring compliance with State accounting requirements and governmental accounting standards.
• Oversee the payroll function in coordination with the Human Resources Department, ensuring timely and accurate payment of wages and benefits, updated as required by new laws, regulations, policies or bargaining agreements.
• Manage the financial aspects of SEMS-based emergency/disaster response and recovery activities, ensuring full reimbursement of all City costs as allowed by law.
• Plan, organize, lead, supervise, train, and evaluate Department staff.
• Conduct regular Departmental meetings; emulate and foster open communications and transparent data and information; lead by example.
• Develop and implement Departmental goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards.
• Make presentations to the Senior Management Team, City Council, various City Commissions, and other groups - community, governmental, and professional.
• Provide support and advice as necessary to the City Manager and Department Directors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
