San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. Under direct supervision of licensed staff, Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) perform a variety of patient care and other services required to treat patients in a health services outpatient or mobile clinic.

The current vacancies are Regular vacancies and Extra Help vacancies. Future vacancies may include extra-help, limited term, unclassified, and regular classified positions.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Benefits package for term positions are similar to regular positions EXCEPT for retirement. Term employees receive a 401A retirement package and are not eligible for retiree health benefits or a defined benefit pension.

Unclassified - Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Carry out rehabilitation procedures as directed by therapists; perform a range of motion body movement with/for patients; position and exercise patients.

• Perform injections including immunizations.
• Perform finger stick tests of all types including glucose testing.

• Perform venipuncture and blood draws.

• Perform waived CLIA tests including dipstick UAs, and pregnancy tests.
• Provide for proper tracking and recording of laboratory tests.

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

Role description

Under general supervision, assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing large complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include mainframes, mini-computers, personal computers, mobile devices, LANS, WANs, servers, data storage and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone. 

The 1042 Security Engineer is the journey level position in the Engineer series. The class is distinguished from the Senior level by the complexity of the tasks, projects or duties assigned, and is more independent than the Assistant level. This classification performs a wide range of complex analytical, design, planning, implementation, enhancement and problem resolution tasks on large complex systems and networks. Works within a framework of established procedures and interprets policies, procedures and guidelines. This level may formulate recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations. Incumbents require only occasional instruction or assistance. Work is reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Serves as a technical architect and systems integrator for large complex systems or networks, with a focus on securing vulnerabilities and reducing risk of system and/or asset compromises.

Essential Duties:
 

1. Determine requirements for the development environment and / or enhancement for large complex systems that serve HSA’s programs. May research and conduct feasibility studies on new technologies.
2. Design, plan, integrate, test, implement, document and enhance large complex systems. This may involve the analysis, coding (.NET C#, Cold Fusion), web application design, database design, and evaluation of systems software, hardware and communications strategies.
3. Perform systems integration for interoperability over dissimilar platforms and technologies. This may involve the integration of various protocols and systems software.
4. Determine the proper installation parameters for software for smooth integration and efficiency in relation to the enterprise system and network.
5. Write code to customize large systems software which may involve specialized programming languages.
6. Read and understand requirements documentation and other documentation in order to write code to implement the required features for application systems.
7. Analyze, detect, identify and correct complex systems software or hardware deficiencies. Analyze, research and debug program logic and systems; modify program logic; analyze service requests for system changes or new requirements to determine the most effective approach and the appropriate staff time required to achieve the needed modification.
8. Provide emergency technical support for application issues to ensure system availability and data integrity. May provide on-call support to ensure rapid recovery from software or hardware problems for mission-critical systems and networks.
9. Act as the liaison between vendors, technical support hot-lines and departments to resolve complex systems. Coordinate and implement corrective measures; this may involve site visits, telephone assistance, remote systems and participation in technical committees.
10. Facilitate the demonstration and training of staff in the use of new hardware or software products.
11. Document procedures and troubleshooting techniques related to systems software and hardware; develop technical documentation and review documentation prior to general distribution.
12. Plan, develop and implement backup and recovery procedures for large systems.
13. Communicate with managers regarding system performance and operational issues. Suggest improvements to management.
14. Research and test new software technologies; report results; recommend software purchases. Learn and implement the new technologies that are brought in. Coordinate and work with vendors when needed. 
15. Attend meetings, workshops, and demonstrations; perform duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Definition: Under supervision, to provide leadership to recreation programs, activities or service; organizes and implements program elements and oversees participants; and performs related work as required.  This temporary part-time non-benefited position works an average of 8 -15 hours per week during each sports season.  This position requires afternoon and evening shifts.

Essential Duties:  Depending upon assignment, the duties of an After School Coach - Recreation Leader I , II or III may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 Assists in planning, organizing, scheduling and provides direct leadership to classes in a specialized phase of the recreation program, class or activities.

• Organizes, inventories and maintains necessary facilities and materials.
• Maintains group and individual discipline, and code of conduct.
• Implements a logical detailed sequence of activities to fit the abilities and interest of the participants.
• Keeps records of attendance, participation.
• Typical duties include: implementation of sports programming, record keeping, maintaining supplies, class development, and gym supervision.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Special Requirements:   Vision adequate to supervise participants in recreational programs; speak clearly; ability to bend stoop or crouch; physical stamina to supervise groups of youth participating in recreational programs; ability to work off-hours, shifts or events as required; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.

Recreation Leader II:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 16 at time of appointment.  Equivalent to three (3) months of full-time experience (approximately 500 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience in recreation programs or equivalent. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable. 

Recreation Leader III:  Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12) grade.  Equivalent to six (6) months full-time experience (approximately 1,000 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience equivalent to a Recreation Leader II with the City of Millbrae. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid CALIFORNIA Class C Operator's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles and a satisfactory driving record.

Certificates:  Must possess a first aid/CPR certification or be willing to obtain one

Service Standards:  

Must successfully complete background process.  All candidates will be fingerprinted pursuant to California State Law.  All successful candidates under age 18 must possess a work permit prior to hire.

Essential functions of the class include:

• Operates, maintains and repairs a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and power generating equipment in a large complex or multi-faceted facility to ensure the safe, correct and efficient functioning of the facility and equipment may be required to operate computerized building management systems, preventative or predictive maintenance computer systems or Computerized Data Gathering System (SCADA).

Nature of work
Involves physical effort in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; the ability to lift heavy objects; exposure to working conditions where minor abrasions, bruises, and burns may occur; occasional uncomfortable work inside closed and dirty spaces; exposure to potential uncomfortable weather conditions and traffic conditions; and requires physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend and climb ladders while working in confined spaces, entryways and tight crawl spaces.  Some positions may also require the ability to operate both automatic and manual automobile transmission as needed. Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, and a shift of up to 12 hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Four (4) years of verified journey-level stationary engineer experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a variety of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilating and related plant machinery used in a government establishment, hospital, industrial, production or commercial building; AND

2. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License; AND

3. Possession at time of hire a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.

Substitution: (Any of the following may be substituted for the required experience)

• Completion of a recognized four-year Stationary Engineer apprenticeship program
• Graduation from a recognized four-year Maritime Academy with a degree in engineering or technology
• Possession of at least a 3rd Assistant Marine Engineer's License of any (unrestricted) horsepower

Job Description

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The Position:
The Accountant performs professional work involved in first line supervision of accounting functions, complex account development, maintenance, modification, and reporting. Under direction, the position is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles to analyze, maintain, reconcile and verify a variety of budgetary, accounting and other fiscal records. The position supervises daily operations in a variety of functional accounting areas and maintains adequate oversight and internal controls over such operations. Public contact is extensive and involves staff at various levels within the organization, local government agencies and other outside entities for the purpose of exchanging technical accounting procedural and policy information. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to analyze data and develop resolutions to a variety of minor and major problems that occur. Established in 1866, the San Francisco Fire Department is rich in tradition and history. Today, the San Francisco Fire Department serves an estimated 1.5 million people, providing fire suppression, fire prevention and emergency medical services to the residents, visitors and workers within San Francisco's 49 square miles.

Under general supervision, an H002 Firefighter engages in firefighting and related activities for the saving of life and property; administers first responder treatment, including first aid; and responds to a variety of emergency situations involving public safety and medical care. A Firefighter also may be assigned duties in connection with fire prevention activities, including the inspection of businesses, schools, and homes to ensure fire safety; maintaining station quarters; and performing other duties as assigned. • Section 1 – Recall and Comprehend Verbal and Visual Information. This section requires candidates to watch two short videos and answer questions based on the scenarios presented.
• Section 2 – Apply Mechanical Reasoning
• Section 3 – Solve Mathematical Problems
• Section 4 – Recall and Comprehend Technical Information from Written Materials

The FCTC Written Test is administered, at minimum, quarterly. Additional tests will be added as needed, so check this website frequently. FCTC does not administer online tests.
