Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill an Information Systems Analyst (ISA) position within the Enterprise GIS (Geographic Information Systems) team.  

Salary range(s) for this classification is $137,089.68- $167,032.32 annually. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.  

The Enterprise GIS team operates out of the Department of Public Works but works across the city to coordinate GIS efforts, lead multi-departmental GIS projects, geospatially-enable City business systems, and administer Enterprise GIS infrastructure for citywide use. The city has standardized on a modern technology stack consisting of Windows Server, Esri ArcGIS platform, VertiGIS Studio, Safe Software FME, and SQL Server enterprise geodatabases. The city has an enterprise license agreement with Esri, and the Enterprise GIS team maintains a large Enterprise GIS server environment with public and internal-facing ArcGIS Server instances, complementary ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online organizations, an SDE environment featuring a data catalog with over 1,000 feature classes, and integrations with dozens of business systems.   

The ISA is a professional-level position in the IT professional management series and responsible for GIS system administration, database design, business system integration, application development, and implementation of large-scale enterprise projects. The position requires a GIS professional with broad technical experience as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. The ideal candidate must be a strong individual contributor that is able to take full ownership of projects, designing solutions in alignment with City Enterprise GIS standards and industry best practices and working at a hands-on level to build, implement, and support such solutions. The position also demands proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with limited resources. Advanced knowledge of the ArcGIS platform and experience with GIS server administration is required. Experience with VertiGIS Studio and GIS web application development in an Esri environment is highly desirable.   

The GIS ISA reports to the Enterprise GIS Manager. This position is responsible for programming that supports the development and maintenance of major applications used citywide.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:   

• Administer Enterprise GIS server environment (ArcGIS Enterprise, VertiGIS Studio, FME Server), including planning for and conducting system upgrades; applying and confirming patches; capacity planning and load testing; publishing and tuning services; managing backups; troubleshooting and resolving system issues; managing security policies, user accounts, roles, and permissions; and maintaining system documentation. 

• Meet with business owners and end users to gather and document requirements for GIS solutions. Design, build, and deploy mapping applications on the ArcGIS platform. Provide documentation, training, and support to end users.  

• Develop and maintain web mapping applications using VertiGIS Studio Web 5.x, including web map authoring, site configuration, and development of print templates, reports, and workflows.  

• Develop and maintain complex geoprocessing routines and ETL workbenches using FME and/or Python.  

• Conduct data modeling and design activities for new datasets by analyzing inputs and developing appropriate schemas in alignment with City standards. 

• Build and support GIS integrations with City business systems.  

• Lead large-scale, cross-department Enterprise GIS projects. Work collaboratively with departments to reduce program redundancies and support effective use of enterprise resources. Train end users on enterprise standards and best practices; provide development oversight and guidance. 

In addition, this position is part of a team responsible for providing GIS support in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated.

The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from

The Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.

The Department

The City’s Volunteer Fire Department is older than the City itself, founded as a volunteer corps in 1861 to replace a U.S. Army fire brigade. The largest volunteer urban Fire Department in California has undergone change to become a combination department, composed of both paid and volunteer staff. In addition, the department provides Advance Life Support (ALS) services and responds to over 3,000 calls for service annually. Staffing includes a Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Marshal, six Fire Captains, six Fire Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and 10 Reserve Volunteer Firefighters. Dispatch is staffed through the Public Safety Dispatch Center housed at the Police Department. Ambulance services are handled through a countywide contract. The Suisun City Department responds to fire, emergency and medical calls, as well as attaching units to wildland strike teams, when possible.

The Position

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented problem-solver with a focus on public service. Recruits enter a training program to develop skills necessary to demonstrate abilities to respond to emergency fire and medical alarms, to protect life and property, to participate in fire suppression training and emergency medical training, to assist with station, apparatus and equipment maintenance, and to do related work as required. Volunteers are required to participate in a minimum of two 24 hour shifts or four 12 hour day shifts each month and complete assigned training.

The Police Officer Trainee learns to enforce Federal, State, and local laws and to respond to calls for the protection of life and property by attending a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for the performance of Police Officer duties. EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

The Town of San Anselmo is seeking applications for the full-time position of Senior Building Inspector in the Public Works and Building Department.  It is an exciting opportunity to work in a broad range of areas, to help shape the future of the Town.

The Department of Public Works maintains the Town’s infrastructure to support the community. With a staff of 15, the department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the following public facilities: roads, parks, buildings, parking, equipment, and vehicle fleet. In addition, Town engineering, capital construction projects, and natural disaster response are also managed within the Public Works department.

THE POSITION

Typical duties of the Senior Building Inspector position include, but are not limited to:

• Make field inspections of buildings and public works permits to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes, statutes, and regulations of the Town, county, state and federal agencies.
• Review, approve and issue permits for construction work.
• Check plans and specifications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Investigate code violations and complaints.
• Conduct residential resale inspections, prepare and issue reports upon the sale of all residential property.
• Perform re-inspections and follow-up as necessary to gain compliance.
• Provide information and guidance to the public regarding codes, ordinances, and the permitting process.
• Provide technical information and interpretations regarding codes, ordinances and compliance methods to contractors, builders, designers, and the general public.
• Resolve difficult and complex code interpretation, enforcement, and inspection problems, issues, and conflicts.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and files.
• Write clear and concise letters as needed.
• Provide staff assistance to the public at the department’s service counter as needed.

 Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge and Abilities):

• Knowledge of state and local building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, accessibility, and fire codes and local building, fire and zoning ordinances.
• Principles and techniques of building construction, building materials and accepted safety standards; Principles and techniques of building inspection.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret building plans and specifications; understand, interpret and apply codes, ordinances, and regulations; communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing.
• Use windows-based computer programs such as MS Word and Excel.
• Operate a car and pickup truck safely, back vehicle a long distance, and steer through narrow roadways and hillsides.

Experience and Training:

• Five years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, including commercial inspection and/or plan check experience, of which two (2) years must be at full journey level.
• Three years of experience as a building inspector or related field involving inspection or code enforcement.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent to the completion of 12th grade – college training in the field of civil engineering, architecture, or building technology may be substituted for equivalent year of work experience. Associated of Arts degree preferred.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 3 months, a valid California driver’s license
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months, certification, through the International Code Council, as a California Residential Building Inspector- J1 and California Commercial Building Inspector- I1

Special Requirements/Physical Demands:

• On-site field inspections and office work require a moderate amount of physical agility. Intermittently walk, stand, twist, squat, kneel, climb, and bend both in the office and in the field.
• On a continuous basis, sit at a desk or stand at a counter to answer questions of the public.  Write by long hand and use a computer keyboard to communicate through written means.
• Frequently lift or carry a weight of up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• The nature of the work requires the individual to climb 30’ to 40’ ladders or scaffolding to reach high areas such as roofs, balance on narrow walkways or steep-pitched roofs, crawl through narrow openings and in confined spaces.
• During inspections, the individual may be required to walk on uneven surfaces. Work will require exposure to intermittent uncomfortable working conditions such as dust, noise, and extreme cold or heat. Inspections are done out-of-doors year-round.
