Come join our collaborative and supportive department today. The City of Sebastopol is seeking an outgoing, empathetic, responsible, problem-solver to serve as a Police Communications Dispatcher. The Police Communications Dispatcher receives and processes routine and emergency calls. The incumbent will dispatch police and enter, retrieve, and use data from various automated law enforcement information systems. The successful candidate will coordinate with and transfer calls to other emergency service providers as appropriate. The individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the department’s operations. In addition, they will learn applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties, and perform other related duties as required. This recruitment is to fill a full-time and per-diem position and create a list for anticipated future vacancies. We will be creating two lists, one for already POST-certified dispatchers and one for entry-level dispatchers.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a great part-time position for someone who attends school in the morning.  No weekend work required!

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Assist Director and Instructors in planning and implementing activities.

The Department: 

As a community-owned, not-for-profit municipal electric utility, Silicon Valley Power (SVP)has been providing dependable electric service to residents and businesses in the City of Santa Clara since 1896. SVP is the only full-service, vertically integrated, publicly owned utility in Silicon Valley owning generation, transmission, and distribution assets. Silicon Valley Power is not driven by profits, as reflected in its significantly lower utility rates when compared to other private sector utilities. Silicon Valley Power is dedicated to our community, customers, and employees. SVP provides safe, reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy services with an exceptional focus on customer care.

 

Today, SVP owns, operates, and participates in more than 2,000 MW of electric generating resources delivering 4,800 GWh of electricity. SVP is growing due to data center expansion, high-density developments, and electrification initiatives. SVP’s peak load will be increasing from 700 MW to 1300 MW in the next 5-10 years. To accommodate future growth, SVP is implementing a $400 million system expansion and infrastructure replacement plan.

 

The Position:

This is a temporary, as-needed position assigned to the City of Santa Clara’s Electric Utility Department, Silicon Valley Power (SVP). The position is part of the Systems Support Group (SSG), which functions as the technology backbone of SVP and is responsible for critical technology modernization, cybersecurity, and operational support in response to rapid utility growth and evolving regulatory requirements.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and support both enterprise and utility-specific network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Cisco technologies. The incumbent plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the organization’s overall network environment, including the SVP’s utility communication and control systems.
 
In this role, the Network Administrator is responsible for administering and monitoring network services, managing a variety of advanced network and security products—including, but not limited to, Cisco firewalls and intrusion prevention systems- and maintaining compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements as well as applicable state and local mandates. This position involves supporting and maintaining complex multi-protocol infrastructure components, including enterprise-grade Cisco firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless controllers. Additionally, it consists of managing secure VPN access, routing protocols, and future zero-trust network access initiatives.

 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position, and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Typical Duties:

Network: Design, configure, deploy, and maintain secure enterprise-grade network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless controllers, and access points within a large and complex high-availability multi-protocol environment.

 

Network Performance: Proactively monitor network utilization and capacity, and troubleshoot issues related to connectivity, degradation, or failure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education Requirements:

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited University.

THE POSITION

The City of San José Police Department (SJPD) is seeking an experienced executive to serve as Deputy Director and lead the Bureau of Technical Services. Under the direction of the Assistant Chief of Police, the Deputy Director is responsible for developing and overseeing the Department’s strategic technology plan while managing Police Department support divisions, including the Systems Development Division (IT Division), Crime Analysis Unit, Body-Worn Camera Unit, BTS Technology Portfolio Manager, Interoperability Manager, and serving as the City-designated Working Committee board member for the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Association.

As a key executive within the Police Department, the Deputy Director collaborates closely with the Chief, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Chiefs to lead a dynamic, progressive law enforcement agency. •    Collaborate with executive leadership across the Police Department to drive strategic technology initiatives that enhance investigative capabilities, crime analysis, real-time intelligence gathering, and public safety outcomes.

•    Oversee resource allocation and budget management, ensuring timely and measurable technology advancements within financial constraints. Provide strategic recommendations on IT investments and actively participate in long-term technology planning and public safety modernization efforts.

•    Directs and oversees the Systems Development Division (SDD), which consists of three specialized teams: the Applications Team, responsible for software solutions and law enforcement applications; the Infrastructure Team, managing networks, servers, and cybersecurity; and the Sworn Team, comprising one sergeant and four officers, ensuring seamless integration of technology with policing operations. This division plays a critical role in advancing the San José Police Department’s technology infrastructure and IT operations, consisting of 23 professionals. SDD drives strategic IT initiatives that enhance investigative capabilities, real-time intelligence, and public safety outcomes. SDD ensures compliance, cybersecurity, and operational resilience by implementing robust governance structures, enforcing CJIS security policies, and leveraging emerging technologies. SDD is managed by a Division Manager who provides leadership and strategic direction to ensure the success of the department’s technology initiatives.

•    Direct and oversee the Crime Analysis Unit (CAU), which is responsible for crime data collection, analysis, and reporting to support strategic, tactical, and administrative law enforcement functions. Ensure compliance with National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) standards for accurate and timely crime reporting to local, state, and federal agencies. Lead the development and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and other analytical tools to provide real-time operational insights to command staff, patrol, and investigative units.

•    Direct and oversee the Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Unit and Photo Lab, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including data retention, security, and public disclosure policies. Ensure the secure storage, retrieval, and management of digital evidence to support investigations, prosecutions, and public transparency. Support public trust and department accountability by implementing best practices for digital evidence management, audit processes, and system integrity.

•    Supervise the Bureau of Technical Services Technology Project Manager, who centralizes and manages all departmentwide projects. This includes overseeing project portfolio management to support executive decision-making on portfolios, projects, programs, and operations. 

•    Supervise the Interoperability Manager, who is responsible for public safety communications and data-sharing across law enforcement agencies. Represent the Police Department in regional and statewide public safety technology initiatives to enhance interagency cooperation and emergency response coordination.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be an inspirational and engaged leader capable of advocating and ensuring the success of the Bureau of Technical Services. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for the Deputy Director is $161,513.30 - $260,737.36

Placement within this range will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the individual selected. This salary includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The salary is supplemented by an attractive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to: 

•    Retirement – Competitive defined benefit retirement plan with full reciprocity with CalPERS.
•    Health Insurance – The City contributes 90% towards the premium for the lowest-priced non-deductible plan. Several plan options are available.

• Knowledge of analyzing and guiding strategic procurement plans that align with organizational technological goals, ensuring the acquisition of IT goods and services meets current and future requirements.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, facilitating their needs and requirements within procurement strategies, and ensuring transparency throughout the procurement process.
• Familiarity with procurement software tools to streamline processes and enhance the efficiency of procurement activities.

Ideal Training and Education:

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, political science, business administration or a related field. 
• Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement on the basis of one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.

Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Public Procurement Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC).

SVP is growing due to data center expansion, high density developments and electrification initiatives. SVP’s peak load will be increasing from 700 MW to 1300 MW in the next 5-10 years. To accommodate the future growth, SVP is in the process of implementing a $400 million system expansion and aging infrastructure replacement plan.

 

The Position:

This is a professional position in the classified service assigned to work in the City’s Electric Utility Department. The incumbent will manage and operate Windows Server, Active Directory, HP Synergy Compute Modules, SAN / LUN Administration.

The annual salary range for this position is $145,058.04 - $184,915.44.  This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major work in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Four (4) years experience with real-time energy management systems involving development, implementation, and management.

 

Acceptable Substitution:

Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education, up to a maximum of four (4) years.

 

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with Remote Terminal Units (RTU’s), microprocessor based relays, Distributed Network Protocol (DNP), and ABB Network Manager – S (SPIDER) Energy Management Systems (EMS), VM Ware, virtualization, SAN/NAS storage, and IBM Blade Centers is highly desirable.
   
• Experience using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems is highly desirable and may be required depending upon assignment.

Other Requirements: 

• May be required to work unusual hours and weekends in the performance of their duties and  be available on an “on call” basis.

 

• Employees are required to pass initial and periodic comprehensive background checks, which may include fingerprinting, to meet Federal, State and/or industry security requirements.

 

• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
