About the Position:  The incumbent will be part of a cohesive team of 15 in the Information Systems and Technology Department, which is part of the Administrative Services business line. The GIS Program is comprised of five fulltime staff, including this position, and an intern. The position serves as a technical leader within the department and advisor to field and office staff on data management, mapping tools, and web applications.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of and proven experience performing the most complex and varied technical tasks related to enterprise GIS operations, including:

• Installing, designing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading GIS databases, applications, tools, and software across disparate platforms, servers, mobile devices, and related technologies.
• Designing relational databases and executing administrative procedures to manage database availability, security, schema, versioning, replication, and performance.
• Planning, developing, and deploying web mapping applications, dashboards, and other enterprise solutions that meet high standards and satisfy specialized user needs.
• Publishing and maintaining a large catalog of services, data stores and warehousing systems.
• Authoring Python scripts to support systems integration and automate data extraction, normalization and geoprocessing procedures.
• Ensuring data integrity and applying advanced data management theory, principles, and practices.
• Performing complex spatial analysis, data management, modeling, cartography, and visualization services to support a wide variety of District projects, programs and operations.
• Managing multiple complex projects and serving as technical lead for assigned projects, including developing project plans, schedules, and budgets, gathering user and systems requirements, researching, evaluating, and recommending solutions and technologies, working with vendors, contractors, and other project staff.
• Diagnosing and solving problems that require analysis of unique issues without precedent and/or structure.

The Department: 

The Purchasing Division resides in the City's Finance Department and maintains a "centralized purchasing system" that is responsible for all purchasing and contracting activity for supplies, materials, and equipment as well as general and professional services.  The Division also operates a Central Warehouse, with over 3,000 inventory items primarily to support the City's utility departments (Silicon Valley Power and the Water and Sewer Departments). The Division is also responsible for the disposition of surplus property and the City mailroom.

The Division will soon expand its warehouse operations with the opening of a second warehouse to support Silicon Valley Power’s infrastructure projects. This recruitment is to fill the Chief Storekeeper position that will manage operations at the current central warehouse, as the incumbent Chief Storekeeper will be transitioning over to the new warehouse.

The Position: 

The Chief Storekeeper is a classified position responsible for overseeing day-to-day warehouse operations, including:

• Oversee a wide variety of materials, supplies, and related equipment 
• Receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, tools, and equipment 
• Ensuring accurate inventory tracking and efficient material handling
• Providing direction to departments for orders of materials
• Supervising a team consisting of two Material Handlers and one Senior Materials Handler in the efficient requisition and issue of materials and supplies

The position is a working supervisor meaning that time is divided between program administration, oversight, and staff development while also managing and advancing District projects. Strong supervisory and project management skills are required, as well as an ability to shift seamlessly between program and personnel management. This position works not only within the Natural Resources Department but is often a liaison with other departments and external agencies to advance larger District programs and projects. Wildlife program staff currently specialize in different subject matter expertise, but cross training is provided and providing back up to one another in differing area is expected. The supervisor manages and assigns program staff to oversee and assist with different projects primarily based on their areas of expertise, but also based on available staffing. The wildlife program covers a broad range of topics including but not limited to: permit administration, wildlife conflict management, special status species monitoring and research.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. The position entails analyzing bids, conducting market analysis, negotiating vendors, negotiating contracts, and providing strategic recommendations to maximize value.  Valley Water is a public agency with an operating and capital budget of $964 million, and over 900 employees. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee the end-to-end procurement process for IT goods, services, and consultants, ensuring compliance with Valley Water policies, organizational requirements, and industry best practices. This includes leading, planning, and overseeing complex procurements for accuracy and compliance.
• Negotiate, prepare, and administer contracts for IT-related procurements to ensure organizational needs are met and compliance by vendors is maintained.

About the Light Rail Maintenance Department

Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Maintenance is located at the Guadalupe Light Rail Division. LRV Maintenance is responsible for timely and reliable maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repair and servicing of light rail vehicles and service equipment.

After a light rail vehicle returns from revenue service at the end of each day, Maintenance performs an interior inspection/walk-through of the vehicle, analyzes the Operator Defect Card, performs a visual inspection of the vehicle undercarriage, performs exterior and interior cleaning, cleans and repairs windows and seating, and removes and repairs graffiti and vandalism.

VTA is seeking a skilled and dedicated Substation Maintainer to join our team. This role will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical substations with 750 volt DC and 11,000 - 22,000 volts AC power.
