
Under general supervision, a Police Officer performs a wide range of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws. Officers may be assigned to specialized units or tasks as needed and are expected to carry out related responsibilities with professionalism and integrity.

POSITION DETAILS:
- Salary range from $43.24 - $56.01 with Excellent Benefits
- 5% Cost of Living Adjustment to $45.41 - $58.81 effective 6/29/26
NOTE: The City recently completed a compensation study comparing its salary ranges with those of other local agencies. As a result, 87% of salary ranges will be adjusted upward at various intervals. As ranges are adjusted, job postings will be updated to reflect these changes.

- Work Schedule: 4/10 (four 10-hour shifts per week)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited U.S. high school OR passing score on the General Education Development (GED) test; OR Possession of a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
- College coursework in police science, criminal justice, or a related field is desirable.
Experience:
- Completion of a P.O.S.T.-certified training academy.
Special Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age as of the date of hire.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be of good moral character with no felony convictions.
Out-of-State Candidates:
- The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training.
- POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy or a regular police academy.
- If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.
