Position Summary

 

Under the general direction of the Fleet and Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for planning, assigning, supervising, training, and assisting mechanics in the routine preventive maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems at Bus Transit facilities. This includes overseeing shop equipment, automated fueling systems, revenue fare collection equipment, passenger amenities, and signage.

The Chief Mechanic - Building Maintenance is a working position that combines the duties of the Mechanic - Building Maintenance classification with skilled supervisory responsibilities. These include supervising work crews, scheduling tasks, managing projects, and providing training and mentorship to subordinate employees. Additionally, the position is accountable for generating detailed written and electronic reports on facility and equipment conditions, documenting maintenance and repairs performed, and outlining ongoing maintenance needs.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Plans, supervises and participates in work assignments for all employees supervised
• Evaluates job performance and knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) of all employees being supervised.
• Provides training, mentoring and feedback to personnel
• Issues 2nd level of progressive discipline, counseling, and written letters of reprimand to employees supervised. This position will not be responsible for administering discipline at subsequent levels.
• Interprets and enforces District rules, regulations, and policies
• Assures proper completion of job assignments with minimum expense and maximum productivity 
• Certifies records of work in progress and completed, including timecards, material requisitions, maintenance records and equipment counts when required.
• Collaborates closely with supervisors of oncoming and off going shifts to assure maximum daily productivity and continuity of work
• Monitors employee attendance and adherence to arrival, break and departure times
• Assures security and safety of premises and work.  

• Assists in developing and performs ongoing monitoring of key performance measures to ensure departmental goals are consistently achieved
• Performs quality control inspections to ensure all repairs meet or exceed regulatory requirements and internal safety and reliability standards
• Schedules facilities and equipment routine maintenance and ensures all inspections and preventive maintenance activities are performed on time and in a timely and satisfactory manner
• Monitors condition of facilities, passenger terminals and equipment. Directs preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maximize asset life and minimize maintenance expenditures   
• Coordinates and directs special projects and campaigns as required
• Coordinates with stores personnel to ensure adequate materials and supplies are available to complete ongoing and scheduled work
• Responsible for cleaning and safe housekeeping in work areas
• Ensures that occupational health and safety practices and procedures are strictly followed
• Refers any problems to Fleet and Facilities Manager, recommending action required
• Opens and closes work orders in Maximo and enters all pertinent information
• Performs other computerized recordkeeping as required
• Inspects, maintains and repairs all facilities mechanical systems including, but not limited to, bus washers, HVAC systems, electrical systems, lighting, plumbing, automatic and roll-up doors, waste oil and wastewater systems 
• Inspects, maintains and repairs shop equipment such as air compressors, generators, welders, fuel and lube oil delivery systems, hydraulic jacks and lifts, steam cleaners, pressure washers and pneumatic tools and other miscellaneous equipment.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Director of Budget and Financial Analysis and the Auditor-Controller, leads Agency budget process and participates in complex, sensitive, and detailed analytical work in the areas of budgets, finances, program operation and economic, regulatory and administrative policy. Performs other position-related duties as assigned.

The Budget unit has a Professional Development Program which allows consideration and appointment of eligible candidates at the appropriate position level. The unit has the following position levels: 1) Senior Budget Analyst, and 2) Principal Budget Analyst.

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Leads Budget Team in the annual budget process and takes a lead role in performing annual long-term financial projection
• Performs a wide variety of complex financial analysis, including financial forecasting, revenue projection, revenue analysis, modeling and cost/benefit analysis
• Performs and leads special studies for the District as well as coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, divisions, and outside agencies
• Analyzes financial impacts of District plans, facilities, services, operations, expenditures, funding programs, and strategies for Board, staff and public
• Leads the preparation of the District’s budget including baseline projections, goals, objectives and performance measures
• Work with other managers to assist in preparing the departmental budgetary requests, ensures accuracy and timely completion
• Maintains and tracks the Budget issues in the Financial Systems that includes Budget Transfers, Budget Adjustments, and Monthly Budget Reports
• Takes the lead on examining current program operations and makes recommendations to management on efficiency and effectiveness improvements
• Reviews and creates contracts as needed as well as provides technical assistance to staff on financially related policies, procedures, and requirements 
• Analyzes existing and proposed administrative financial policies and procedures
• Performs regular and year-end budgetary analysis for management and the Board of Directors
• Leads and works closely with analysts in other departments
• Assists in examining all fiscal analysis performed on decisions before the Board of Directors for clarity and accuracy
• Must maintain confidentiality of District information at all times
• Plans, coordinates, researches, and prepares reports for special studies such as impact on revenues, cost reduction, and operating and capital budget analysis

Qualifications

Education: 
Master of Library Science or recognized equivalent degree, from an American Library Association-accredited college or university, is required. We also encourage recent graduates, or those expecting to graduate no later than June 2026, to apply.

Essential Responsibilities

• Working with computers on a daily basis for work scheduling, work order entry and work order reporting on the Districts electronic maintenance system in addition to notifications and communications.
• Conducts tests, analyses and measurements as directed to diagnose any unusual, erratic or malfunctioning occurrence in any shipboard or terminal system or component.
• Reports any unusual wear patterns, noise, pressure, temperature, or changes in voltage, current, cycles, resistance or any other indication of potential malfunction.

• Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and overhauls as directed.

The City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior C/CAG Transportation Program Specialist to perform a variety of program administrative and technical support functions related to C/CAG transportation and land use programs.  

 

As part of an interdisciplinary team and under general supervision, this role involves managing and executing high-level, specialized projects. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and implementing countywide programs and policies, particularly those related to C/CAG initiatives. The role demands providing expert-level analysis and technical support on related legislation, along with overseeing a range of complex C/CAG programs and projects. The Senior C/CAG Transportation Program Specialist is the lead or specialist level class in the C/CAG Program Specialist Series. In the lead assignment, incumbents provide direction to C/CAG Program Specialist I/II staff, including assigning, directing, and reviewing their work. At this level, incumbents may provide supervision and leadership on a project or program basis to consultants/contractors, volunteers, and other staff including assigning, directing, and reviewing the work of professional staff. In the specialist assignment, incumbents work on dedicated projects or the largest, most visible, complex, and political assignments within the program. 

 

This position will support key program areas, including airport land use compatibility planning, transportation demand management (TDM) policy, community-based transportation planning, and active transportation (bicycle and pedestrian) programs.

Position Summary

Under general direction from the Director of Planning, manages projects, leads and supervises staff and performs difficult and complex transit planning studies, investigations and analyses. Waste Reduction and Management – The program advances the County’s commitment to zero waste through innovative source reduction, diversion and sustainable materials management programs across County operations and the broader San Mateo County community. The program provides essential integrated solid waste management and community services for residents and businesses in the County’s unincorporated areas and manages the Pescadero Transfer Station.

• A typical way to qualify is five years of experience in the field of resource conservation which has included program implementation and coordination.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The annual salary range for this position is $123,510 - $154,461.

This is a permanent and fully benefited position in the Sustainability Department.

Anyone may apply.  Current County of San Mateo and County of San Mateo Superior Court of California employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, extra-help/limited term positions prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination.
