OASIS is community field-based mental health services provided to older adults at their place of residence. This home visit services include medication evaluation and monitoring, individual counseling/therapy, and case management. This multiple discipline team with language capacity in English, Spanish, and Chinese, consists of Psychiatrists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, a Community Mental Health Nurse, and a Peer Support Worker. Services are available to San Mateo County residents age 60 and over with issues of mobility and mental health conditions that impact their day-to-day functioning.  

Clinicians will use evidence-based approach to perform assessment, diagnosis, make medical necessity treatment plans, case management, individual therapy, and work with family members of clients' and other community providers for clients' mental health follow-up care needs. These interventions are provided in field setting or in clients' place of residence, and/or as needed to clients who are living in the community.

Clinicians are committed to providing medical necessity treatment that supports the clients' goals of independence and self-sufficiency with other service providers' support to continually live in the community with better quality of life. These positions embrace the challenge of providing simultaneous cooccurring treatment for both mental illness and substance use disorders in some cases; to work in an older adult outpatient setting as a member of a multidisciplinary team in collaboration and within the system of care.  

The ideal candidates will possess:  

• A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family  
• Therapist, or are collecting hours to take the licensing exam;  
• Solid clinical treatment, assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills;  
• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities;
• Experience delivering services to adult and/or older adult consumers who have cooccurring behavioral health and substance use disorders;

Minimum qualifications include: 

Licensure/Certification:  

• PSW I - current California registration as a Clinical Social Worker Associate (ASW).  
• MFT I - current California Registration as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern (IMF). Individuals hired in these classifications must become licensed within three years from the date of employment as a Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist by the State of California. 
• PSW-II - current California license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).  
• MFT II - current California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).

Responsibilities

San Mateo Medical Center and its clinics are currently seeking well-qualified candidates for Physical Therapist II to provide outpatient and/or inpatient services at San Mateo Medical Center - Main Campus in San Mateo, CA. These positions would provide outpatient and/or inpatient services physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a variety of orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

Physical Therapists manage patients with a wide range of diagnoses, chronic and acute, and are part of a dynamic treatment team. In addition, Physical Therapists identify patient challenges and develop goals and a care plan with reasonable outcomes for the individual's life/work settings. Daily opportunities are created in this assignment through the variety of illnesses/injuries seen in our patient population.

Physical Therapists work at SMMC as part of a County rehabilitation program, which provides evaluation, education and treatment. The therapeutic program at SMMC is oriented toward inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic problems while providing therapy to inpatients with a need for long or short-term rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of work experience providing care in an outpatient setting with an interest in covering inpatient when the census justifies. San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division is seeking a responsible, innovative leader and skilled clinician for the position of Supervising Mental Health Clinician - East Palo Alto Services. This Supervising Mental Health Clinician will supervise and coordinate the work of mental health professionals and interns in the East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park geographic area in San Mateo County. This position works closely with community members and community providers to develop and sustain programming that is culturally and community responsive.

This position will participate in program administration, planning and evaluation. The Supervising Mental Health Clinician supervises and guides the clinical team who provides services to seriously emotionally disturbed youth and their families, and seriously mentally ill adults. Services provided include: medication assessment and management; individual, group and family therapy; psychological assessment; case management; rehabilitation services; and crisis intervention.

The current vacancy is in the East Palo Alto Community Counseling Center, located in East Palo Alto but will travel throughout San Mateo County for client visits, trainings and meetings.

The East Palo Alto Community Counseling Center offers a unique setting to provide services to a diverse population in a community-oriented clinic.

This position supervises a multidisciplinary team that provides clinical outpatient services to adults and children and their families. The team may include psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses and social workers and marriage and family therapists. The clinical teams also include master and doctoral level interns and psychiatric residents. In providing clinical services team members also relate to peer counselors and parent partners.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Knowledge of system of care principles and general services.
• Knowledge of program management techniques and practices.
• Demonstrated expertise and skill in clinical work with adults with serious mental illnesses and youth with serious emotional disturbances; and clients with co-occurring disorders.
• Experience working with clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds and with underserved and/or isolated communities.
• Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice modalities, e.g. Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Brief Treatment.
• Knowledge of Medi-Cal and Medicare regulations and managed mental health care.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills.
• Strong supervisory/leadership skills which demonstrate an ability to direct and motivate a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience guiding or supervising others during a systemic or programmatic change process.
• Collaborative skills and the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with consumers, families, professionals and the public; including collaborative community engagement to plan and implement needed services.
• Ability to make sound decisions based on the exercise of judgment and the consideration of all available information.
• Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Education: A Master's degree in a mental health specialty, such as social work, nursing, or clinical counseling.

Experience: Two years of professional post-graduate experience in a mental health setting.

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a California license in at least one of the following: Registered Nurse; Clinical Psychology; Clinical Social Worker; or Marriage and Family Therapist.

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Occupational Therapist II.  
Currently, there is one full-time, limited-term vacancy and two Extra-Help, part-time, vacancies. These positions will plan and provide occupational therapy services for acutely ill or rehabilitative patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Some individuals may also assist in providing technical advice and training to less experienced staff.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. They will also possess a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Additionally, the incumbent will have experience in working with adults, skilled nursing, and acute care.  Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. Ability to work weekends and/or holiday coverage when necessary is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and methods of occupational therapy, as applicable to all types of cases found in a general hospital providing acute care or in a rehabilitative center.
• Physical and psychological problems of physically disabled, aged, gero-psychiatric and chronically ill patients.
• Principles of splint design and fabrication.
• Use and care of therapeutic tools and equipment commonly used in occupational therapy.
• Professional ethics and the fundamental laws of practice for occupational therapy.

• Administer and document occupational therapy treatments.
• Assess patient needs, analyze situations accurately and implement an effective plan of action.
