San Mateo County Health is seeking a well-qualified individuals for the position of Environmental Health Specialist IV - Consumer Protection Programs. Environmental Health Specialist will receive general supervision and provide lead direction in performing various countywide environmental health inspection and enforcement activities in one of the several specialized technical areas such as consumer protection, food sanitation, recreational water, water, sewage, land use, and cross connection control; vector control; solid waste; medical waste; and housing and institutions.

There is currently one regular vacancy that will function as a Food Plan Check Specialist within the Environmental Health Division Food and Pool Programs, located in San Mateo, but the position will include travel/driving throughout the county to perform duties of the job.

Environmental Health Services ensures a safe and healthful environment in the County's 20 cities and unincorporated areas through education, monitoring and enforcement of a variety of regulatory programs, as well as ongoing services to the community.

Duties within the Consumer Protection Programs include:

• Lead specialized programs within the Food and Pool Programs, such as Food and Pool Facilities Plan Review, Cottage Food Operations, Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (MEHKO), Temporary Food Events, Mobile Food Facilities, and Certified Farmers Markets.
• Lead quality assurance, quality control and standardization functions.
• Conduct compliance inspections of programs and projects within the Consumer Protection Programs as assigned.
• Lead or provide direction in the investigation of citizen complaints.
• Lead and implement special projects.
• Set program standards, coordinate activities with various County and City Departments, collaborate with California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health ad hoc committees and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Three years of journey level experience as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist, including one year of experience in a regulatory agency in the designated option: Option 1 - Water, Sewage, Land Use and Cross Connection Control Option 2 - Vector Control and Solid/Infectious Waste Option 3 - Housing and Institutions Option 4 - Food Sanitation and Consumer Protection

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a California certificate as Registered Environmental Health Specialist.

THE POSITION

Under the general direction of the Administrative Services Director, the Assistant Administrative Services Director is responsible for overseeing the Finance Division with 10 full-time staff and supporting citywide fiscal and budget operations. This role involves high-level coordination, analysis, and liaison work across City departments, divisions, and external agencies. This position requires deep expertise in financial management, public policy, and municipal operations, including knowledge of the roles of the City Council and the Finance and Audit Commission, exercising independent judgment in policy development and fiscal oversight. The Assistant Director’s daily duties include general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and business licensing, as well as long-term fiscal planning. This role is instrumental in achieving departmental and citywide goals, improving resource efficiency, and delivering high-quality customer service. Primary duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Planning, managing, and overseeing the daily functions, operations, and activities of the Finance Division; areas of responsibility include general accounting, budget, payroll, treasury, business license, tax and revenue collection, and financial reporting.
• Directing and participating in the development of the City-wide operating and capital budget; working with departments to provide data and support for their budget development; monitoring departmental budget performance and making recommendations for adjustments as needed; and conducting ongoing analysis of the City's financial condition, reporting to, and advising, executive management on fiscal matters.
• Directing the preparation of, and participating in developing fiscal reports including monthly, quarterly and annual reports as well as the City's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), ensuring adherence to mandated rules, regulations and professional standards.

• Attending and participating in professional group meetings; staying abreast of new trends and innovations in the financial field; monitoring changes in regulations that may affect business systems operations; implementing policy and procedural changes after approval.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Ferry Mechanic performs preventative, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, trouble-shooting, repair, and modifications on structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, piping and control systems found on ferry vessels and passenger terminals; performs related work as assigned. Responsibilities include record keeping and written verification of work accomplished.

Salary Range:  
Day Shift:               $56.32 per hour
Swing Shift:           $56.32 per hour + 10% differential pay
Graveyard Shift:    $56.32 per hour + 15% differential pay
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Working with computers on a daily basis for work scheduling, work order entry and work order reporting on the Districts electronic maintenance system in addition to notifications and communications.
• Conducts tests, analyses and measurements as directed to diagnose any unusual, erratic or malfunctioning occurrence in any shipboard or terminal system or component.
• Reports any unusual wear patterns, noise, pressure, temperature, or changes in voltage, current, cycles, resistance or any other indication of potential malfunction.
• References manufacturer schematics including blueprints, drawings and specifications to resolve maintenance issues.
• References parts catalogues and other sources to determine correct parts for specific applications.
• Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and overhauls as directed.

The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest, with over 70 employees during construction season. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members who may be geographically dispersed. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of their assigned field office and has supervisory responsibility over one administrative assistant and supervisory level staff.  Each geographical area consists of up to 18 full-time staff members as well as seasonal staff. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional with a highly collaborative management style, strong emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills. Work Environment: This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and will be assigned to a field office. Licenses & Certifications Required:    

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License;
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid First Responder or equivalent certificate

Overview:

The Senior Engineer (Electrical) is to provide specialized electrical engineering expertise, particularly related to low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems and low voltage motor control centers used in industrial facilities, including water treatment plants. This individual will serve as a subject-matter expert, support ongoing capital projects throughout all phases—planning, design, and construction, act as the Owner’s representative for electrical engineering, and manage consultants and professional services agreements. Their role includes troubleshooting complex electrical issues, assisting with design modifications, and managing capital improvement (electrical) projects, such as the Electrical Improvement Project at Water Treatment Plants and providing electrical engineering support for the Reliability Improvement Project (RWTP). Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage complex, politically sensitive, and/or large treatment plant capital improvement projects through all phases, including planning and design; supervises multi-division teams and coordinates and collaborates with external agencies.
• Provides electrical and power engineering support for projects under the Treatment Plants Project Delivery Unit.
• Develop the scope of work, initiate, negotiate, and manage consultants and professional services agreements as assigned, including overseeing the contract process to on-board, maintain the current agreement, and close the agreement at the end of the project.
• Serve as a technical expert in electrical engineering, including on-site troubleshooting during construction, as well as coordinating and overseeing complex electrical shutdowns.
• Schedule, lead, and participate in project meetings to discuss electrical and power design elements. Mentor, train, and supervise subordinate staff.
• Assumes responsibility for the review and preparation of engineering studies, reports, design, and contract documents for compliance with electrical engineering standards and principles, stamps and/or signs such work to assume project (electrical) engineering responsibility.

San Mateo County Health is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Edison Clinic Therapist (Psychiatric Social Worker I/II).

Under general supervision, the Clinic Therapist will work approximately 40 hours per week, providing a wide variety of therapeutic services and, if time permits, up to 10 hours of social work case management services. Responsibilities include screening, assessment, evaluation, and psychotherapy, with a focus when appropriate on harm reduction therapeutic interventions and support services for clients in need of, or currently receiving, substance abuse therapy and treatment.

Additional duties include developing and implementing activities related to substance abuse prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation, as well as performing other related work. The position also involves providing social work services to non-therapy clients in support of other on-staff social work case managers.

The Position
The position will be embedded at the Public Health, Policy and Planning Edison Clinic at the San Mateo Medical Center, and possibly one morning per week at the Fair Oaks Health Center, with clinic hours Monday through Friday. 

This position will engage individuals with a range of mental health and substance use disorders to provide a range of services and supports, including but not limited to, diagnosis of issues to be focus of clinical attention, including substance use and other behavioral health needs; screening/assessing clients' needs using assessment criteria to determine medical necessity and identification of key clinical interventions; determination of stage of change; and engaging clients by using Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction practices.

The provider will provide therapy for primary case load, and as a backup also provide case management services, including transportation, client advocacy, client-driven treatment planning, and care coordination with other care providers; navigation of medical and mental health services, including medication assisted treatments; assisting clients with enrolling into benefits, including health coverage for which they are eligible; participate in a multidisciplinary team; use clinical consultation care coordination meetings; and partner with key referral sources and other service providers including but not limited to, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) Emergency Department (ED), Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), and Primary Care and Specialty Clinics, BHRS clinics and programs, Substance Use Disorder treatment providers, including Palm Avenue Detox, shelters, Probation, and Correctional Health.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have significant knowledge, skills, experience, and training in providing therapy as well as case management; assessing and evaluating adult clients with mental health and substance use issues; determining appropriate referrals and recommending treatment plans; documenting in electronic medical records; establishing appropriate clinical relationships; and demonstrating strong understanding of confidentiality and ethics.

Three years of experience in clinical social work, psychotherapy, or a related field, particularly with diverse populations affected by mental health and substance use issues is highly desirable.

Licensure/Certification:

• Psychiatric Social Worker I: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Examiners as an intern.   An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California.
• Psychiatric Social Worker II:  Current California license as a Clinical Social Worker.

Special Requirements:  

• Individuals in this classification assigned to an on-site school program are required to meet any specialized requirements (i.e., Pupil Personnel Services credential) as stipulated by federal and state laws and regulations.
• Individuals assigned to Canyon Oaks Youth Center, must have the ability to complete 40 hours of mandated training annually.
