The Department

The South San Francisco Fire Department provides its residents with service in fire suppression; first-responder and ambulance transport emergency medical services; hazardous materials response; urban search and rescue; marine rescue and fire prevention, investigation and public education. The Department operates five (5) fire stations throughout the City, plus an Emergency Operations Center and Fire Training Tower and is comprised of 92 dedicated staff members.

The Position

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Under general supervision, engages in medical aid treatment and transport activities to protect life.
• Drives, operates, and maintains all assigned department apparatus and equipment.
• Assists and participates in training programs; public education.
• Accurately completes electronic patient care reports, physician certification statements, and incident reports.
• Performs other related duties as required. 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Mobility to work in both emergency and non-emergency settings.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 110 lbs.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle under both emergency and non-emergency conditions.
• Strength and stamina to perform service duties.
•  Vision sufficient to meet department standards.
• Hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person and via radio.

Training: Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses/Certificates: All licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of employment.

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Possession of a valid EMT Certification or National Registry, and the ability to be certified by San Mateo County EMS Agency.
• Must possess a valid CPR “Healthcare Provider” card, American Heart Association or equivalent.

Currently we have one Full-time Regular vacancy for a Spanish Speaking Psychiatric Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist in Daly City. Experienced clinicians and those looking to gain experience are encouraged to apply.

 

The outpatient clinician will provide specialty outpatient mental health services to adults living in the Northern regions of San Mateo County. The target population are adults 18 years of age and older presenting with a serious mental illness and severe functional impairments. Principal duties will include assessment and diagnosis, care coordination, case management, group and individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention and rehabilitation services. The Clinician will provide treatment in an outpatient clinic setting.

 

The ideal candidates will possess: 

• A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist;
• Solid clinical treatment, assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills;
• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities;
• Experience/interest in providing treatment for adults with serious mental illness;
• Experience/interest in delivering services to adults who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders;
• Experience/interest in delivering services in specialty areas for adults and older adults and/or transitional age youth;
• Excellent documentation skills: progress notes, assessments, client care plans, etc.;
• Demonstrated expertise, skill and interest in working with a broad range of clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds, such as Latino, Pacific Islander, African American, and LGBTQ, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate and proficient services;
• Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, collaborative partners and the public;
• Extensive knowledge of/interest in learning the available community resources within the County of San Mateo and its neighboring counties;
• Experience/interest in using electronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR, SOARIAN)
• Fluency in any of the threshold languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) or Russian; and experience providing clinical services using bilingual skills.

Licensure/Certification

Psychiatric Social Worker I: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker. An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of original registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California.

Marriage & Family Therapist I: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the original date of registration employment as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist issued by the State of California.

San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division (BHRS) is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Occupational Therapist II - Therapeutic Day Schools.

 

The mental health Occupational Therapy within the Therapeutic Day Schools (TDS) program assists youth in acquiring skills needed to function in their life roles of student and worker. As the students in the TDS program progress toward graduation they are then linked with the Department of Rehabilitation for assessment and counseling for future placement. The Occupational Therapist also provides treatment through the use of arts and crafts activities. The focus of this "activity" based treatment is the development of pre-vocational skills: pro-social and task skills.

 

Occupation Therapy services in the TDS unit are provided in two general areas: direct and indirect services. These services function to prepare the young person for the roles of a student, performance of age-appropriate daily living behaviors and ultimately the transition to worker, college student, or vocational training.

 

The Occupational Therapy program addresses: independent living skills, pre-vocational skills, socialization skills, recreation and leisure activities, and transition activities as outlined in the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

 

The Therapeutic Day School unit is comprised of two separate school programs serving high school aged special education students in the Jefferson High School District, and South San Francisco Unified School District. Each TDS program is a collaboration between that designated high school district. TDS students are certified special education students who have been evaluated and determined in need of intensive mental health services in order to benefit from their education. The core staff is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including both mental health and educational staff. The TDS program works in close collaboration with outside service providers such as probation, social services, education, Wrap- Around service providers and other mental health contract agencies.

 

The Therapeutic Day School BHRS Staff include a Clinical Services Manager (1), Supervising Mental Health Clinician (1), Psychiatric Social Workers / Marriage and Family Therapists (2), Creative Arts Therapist (1), Occupational Therapist (1), Psychiatrist (1) and Medical Office Assistant (1). District special education staff include the Special Education Director (1), Program Specialist (1), Special Education Teacher (1 or 2), and Teaching Associates (1 or 2).

 

The ideal candidates will have:

• Experience working with adolescents in a mental health setting
• Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
• Experience working with special education students and participating in the IEP process
• Familiarity with normal adolescent development
• Familiarity with psychiatric disorders as defined in the DSM V manual
• Ability to provide treatment to youth who have co-occurring substance use issues
• Ability to structure and effectively run activity-based groups with teenagers

 

Responsibilities will include:

• Assessment and development of a treatment plan that links to the BHRS client treatment plan.
• Coordinating and implementing the TDS program's Occupational Therapy program, including group treatment, individual treatment, linkage to various agencies, and consultation to staff and families.
• Continual evaluation of youth capacities and deficits, and the students' response to treatment including the measurement of change and development.
• Conduct assessments, share findings and make appropriate recommendations.
• Collaborate and coordinate with the multi-disciplinary team which includes special education staff and mental health staff in order to provide comprehensive treatment to youth in the TDS program.
• Participate in milieu therapy and enforce the behavior management system.
• Provide consultation and support to families and staff as needed.
• Provide education and training to staff as needed.
• Liaison with community agencies to assess, implement or coordinate services.
• Work closely with district vocational support staff to assist students in transitioning to the role of worker.
• Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings by completing and monitoring progress of the Individualized Transition Plan (ITP).

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

 Licensure/Certification: 

• Eligibility for or registration as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination.
• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; or must be obtained within six months of appointment.

The City of Menlo Park is seeking engineering professionals, with exceptional technical and project management skills, for Senior Civil Engineer positions in the Public Works Department (Department) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Division. Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Planning and Principal Planners, manages projects and performs work tasks to support the department’s work program, which includes service and operations planning, short- and long-range planning, facilities planning, and compliance reporting for all three of the District’s operating divisions.

 

This position advances the District’s business interests by analyzing complex operating conditions and recommending detailed changes, producing reports and planning studies, researching and interpreting relevant regulations, and meeting with internal staff and external stakeholders on a wide variety of topics. Work may require the use of specialized software, such as GIS and Hastus, and travel to District facilities and off-site meeting locations. May supervise and assign work to Associate Planner(s) and Planner(s) as directed.

 

Essential Responsibilities

• Research, compile, analyze, and interpret complex technical, demographic, economic, financial, and other statistical data for the development of transit plans and projects, such as the District's transit service plan, transit capital improvement program, and proposed bridge toll or transit fare changes.
• Monitor, forecast, and evaluate transit service performance and patterns of bridge traffic, parking, and transit service patronage and recommend changes where necessary.
• Prepare or supervise preparation of routine evaluations of the efficiency and effectiveness of bus and ferry routes, schedules, major transit facilities, and bus stops. Recommend specific improvements based on these evaluations.
• Prepare or oversee preparation of major compliance documents, including the Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP), National Transit Database (NTD), Title VI, and other federal and state reports, including the organization of internal stakeholder meetings to provide input on these reports.
• Prepare official recommendations and informational reports for consideration by the public, the District’s Board of Directors, and technical staff of the District or other agencies and groups.
• Prepare or assist with verbal presentations to staff groups, public groups, and the boards of local municipalities and advise District personnel on matters related to interactions with these groups.
• Support and coordinate staff responsibilities regarding other internal and external coordination meetings as directed. May participate in public meetings and hearings.
• Act, when directed, as liaison between the District and other agencies on planning matters by reviewing outside reports, attending meetings, drafting correspondence, and providing technical information to public agencies and other transit groups.
• Develop and coordinate changes to the District’s routes and fares in the Clipper and Genfare systems.
• Provide staff support to the District’s public advisory committees, including attendance at off-site meetings and/or meetings that occur outside normal business hours.
• Formulate short- and long-range plans or recommendations on transit services; coordinate service planning, detour, and bus stop issues with local jurisdictions when needed.
• Study and research physical characteristics of areas served by Golden Gate Transit; assess conditions of roads and related features; determine the physical and operational feasibility of transit routes and bus stops.
• Assess feasibility of transit service changes and develop plans for implementation. May use Hastus scheduling software as appropriate.
• Analyze possible environmental impacts that could result from proposed service, operations, or pricing changes to the District’s transit or bridge operations.
• Obtain encroachment or other permits as necessary to address the District’s business needs.
• Perform bridge traffic or transit demand projections and studies based on available travel data, community surveys, U.S. census data, and development reports from cities served by the District.
• Conduct geographical and demographic analyses of existing and potential District customers using socioeconomic data from passenger or other market research surveys. May use geographic information system (GIS) software as appropriate.
• Develop, coordinate, and conduct bus and ferry passenger surveys; analyze data from those surveys and prepare related reports.
• Review environmental impact reports and statements and project plans within the Golden Gate Transit service area and assess potential impacts to the District’s operations.
• Support environmental reviews related to the District’s transit projects.
• Research and interpret applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to transportation, planning, or environmental permit activities.
• May supervise and assign work to Associate Planner(s) and Planner(s) as directed.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
• Know and follow health and safety rules and safe working practices applicable to the position.

ABOUT THE POSITION

 

The City of Redwood City, Public Works Department invites you to apply for the position of Management Analyst I.  This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to provide highly responsible staff assistance in the preparation and administration of various contracts and agreements, as well as development, coordination and monitoring of various department budgets, grant proposals, reports and records maintenance.

 

Typical duties include, but are not limited to: assist the Public Works Superintendents and Director in tracking divisional workload and projects, helping prepare staff reports, monitoring the budget associated with existing projects; assist in the preparation, review, implementation and monitoring of various professional services contracts; work in conjunction with legal counsel to ensure that contracts are in  compliance with the City’s policy, local, state, and federal laws; ensure that contracts  are in compliance with agreed upon terms, fees, schedules and scope of work; generate and analyze data regarding cost-effectiveness and quality of services; analyze budget reports and forecasts; analyze revenue producing programs and make recommendations; assist in the preparation of Notice of Inviting Bids (NIB) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs); assist in the evaluation of proposals and make recommendations as appropriate; prepare purchasing and payment requisitions in accordance with agreed upon terms; evaluate the effectiveness of technology and make recommendations that will improve operational efficiencies; conduct research and analysis on best practices in the field of Public Works, and produce various written reports and recommendations. The Management Analyst I may serve as department liaison to various committees and associations for compliance of environmental and regulatory requirements.

San Mateo County Health- San Mateo Medical Center seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Program Coordinator I in the Patient Access Division. The current vacancy is a full-time, limited term vacancy. The duration of the assignment will last about 6 months.

 

Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Program Coordinator will provide support to over 150 Patient Services Assistants across various departments, including Emergency, Admitting, Long-Term Care, Same-Day Surgery, and will average 27 Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) sites with 8-16 hours of weekly program refresher training on several publicly sponsored coverage options.

 

Additionally, this position will assist the team with several EPIC post-go-live projects, and work queues as we work to revamp processes and enhance collaboration for improved workflows and revenue-generating process efficiencies.

This is a limited term, at-will position.  Limited Term Employees are assigned to assignments not to exceed three years. They receive medical and dental benefits, similar to regular employees, and a defined contribution retirement plan. 

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates efforts between departments, clinics, and Ancillary Services to ensure timely release of claims.
• Serves as a liaison between the Patient Financial Department and Resource Management.
• Facilitate regularly scheduled and special meetings – prepare and distribute agendas and minutes from meetings.
• Maintain program billing and compliance records related to authorizations for Inpatient and Outpatient services.
• Prepare reports as needed for Patient Financial services, Resource Management, and Department of Health Services (DHCS).
• Manage and support activity related to the authorization and denial process.
• Educate and train team members regarding authorization requirements and denial mitigation.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Knowledge of:

• Computer applications related to the work.
• Office administrative practices and procedures, including records management and the operation of standard office equipment.
• Funding sources, grants and fund-raising techniques, if assigned to Options 1 and 2.
