The Yuba County Probation is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy Probation Officer I/II.  Under general supervision, Deputy Probation Officers perform a variety of professional adult and juvenile probation duties related to case management, field monitoring and investigation, probation supervision, mediation, intake and other programs; coordinates probation activities with those of the Superior Court; ensures compliance with court ordered probation conditions through counseling; coordinates community resources to assist probationers to successfully complete the terms of probation; and performs related work as required. This classification is a flexibly staffed position in the protective services category in the professional Probation Officer series. As experience accrues, the incumbent performs with increasing independence and becomes a candidate for promotion after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency, which meet the qualifications of the higher-level class and successful completion of the Probation Officer Core curriculum approved by the Standards of Training and Corrections.

Examples of Duties:

• Provide direct field supervision of clients including home, employment and school visits, weapons and contraband searches and chemical testing; ensure that conditions of probation are being complied with.

About Yuba County Probation Services:

The principal mandated tasks accomplished by Adult and Juvenile Probation Services are the preparation of investigative reports and sentencing recommendations for the Courts on criminal, diversion and probation actions, and the supervision of adult and at risk youth granted formal probation. Probation Officers also supervise clients released on Post Release Community Supervision and pursuant to Section 1170(h) of the Penal Code. Probation manages a variety of specialized adult and youth program elements. The adult programs include Drug Court, a pre-trial risk assessment unit, and a wide array of rehabilitative programming at the Yuba County T.E.A.M. Center. • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in construction management, project management, civil, structural or mechanical engineering, facilities planning, design management, architecture, business, economics, planning or a related field

The required education is interchangeable with project management experience related to the area of assignment on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.

• Registration as a licensed Civil Engineer in the state of California and 4 years of responsible post degree engineering experience (a master’s degree shall count for 1 year of post degree engineering experience).
• A valid drivers’ license

Glenn County is recruiting an individual to fill a full time position in the Public Works Agency. THE DEPARTMENT

At the helm of the City’s legal leadership is a part-time elected City Attorney, Rob Epstein, who has served for seventeen years as San Rafael’s City Attorney with dedication and expertise. An elected City Attorney is fairly rare (a total of 10 statewide) and the part-time position is even more unique. For many years, this distinctive structure has delivered an effective combination of elected political leadership with professional legal support for the City. In this model, the elected City Attorney sits as a trusted counterpart to the elected City Council, providing both legal advice and political leadership.

In addition to the elected part-time City Attorney, the City’s legal office is comprised of two full-time attorneys and one legal assistant. THE DEPARTMENT

The Library and Recreation Department is comprised of two divisions, Library and Recreation & Childcare, that are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of San Rafael residents. The Department’s mission is to enrich the community through discovery, learning, and play, and strives to maximize the delivery of strategically aligned programs and services to provide the highest value for the community.

The Recreation Division operates with a $4.93 million budget and 18 FTE. The Recreation Division includes 3 community centers, one cultural center, an aquatics center, two community gardens, 3 ballfields, a multi-use turf field, 3 community parks, 11 neighborhood parks, 6 pocket parks, and 5 special use parks. The Recreation Division is responsible for developing innovative, diverse, and community-centered programs and services at the City’s park and recreation facilities.

The Albert J. Boro Community Center and Pickleweed Community Park are important facilities managed by the Recreation Division. The Albert J. Boro Community Center and Pickleweed Park are located in the heart of the Canal neighborhood, a vibrant and diverse area that has traditionally been marked by socio-economic disparities compared to the rest of San Rafael. The facility is heavily utilized and is an important resource for a predominantly Spanish-speaking community. Programming of the facility is supported by the City Council-appointed Pickleweed Advisory Committee.

The Community Center is co-located with the Pickleweed Library and is a successful example of joint and collaborative use between the City’s Library and Recreation Divisions. The Pickleweed Library is scheduled for major renovation starting in Fall 2025, with select library programs relocating into the Community Center. Pickleweed Park is currently wrapping up another major renovation, which included converting two full-size soccer fields to all-weather turf, and adding new amenities, including a basketball court, fitness equipment, play area, and gazebo. The park is expected to be fully re-opened in late July.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Recreation Supervisor will oversee the Albert J. Boro Community Center and Pickleweed Park, serving as a key leader in enhancing recreational services for the surrounding community.

The ideal candidate for the Recreation Supervisor position will be a dynamic and service-oriented leader with a strong background in recreation programs and services, staff supervision, and community engagement. They will have demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and overseeing recreation programs and services that align with the diverse needs of the community. A successful candidate will be skilled in fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, managing and mentoring staff, and implementing innovative programs that enhance recreation services.

This individual will be an effective communicator and problem solver, adept at engaging with community stakeholders, fairly and transparently balancing the needs of diverse user groups and ensuring that programs and services meet the needs of a multilingual community. Experience with City Boards, Commissions, and Committees; diverse program offerings (multilingual and older adult programming, rentals, gymnasiums, etc.); and multiuse sports fields are a plus.

ABOUT THE HISTORY ROOM

The Lucretia Little History Room is dedicated to illuminating the unique history of Mill Valley and making it accessible to people of all ages and interests.

The collection includes about 10,000 historical photos, local artifacts, maps, house files, over 250 oral histories, and research materials. History Room staff assists the public with research and collaborates with the Mill Valley Historical Society and other local organizations. Recent projects have included the launch of a local history podcast, virtual exhibitions, Building History in 3D, and Mapping Mill Valley History. The Novato Sanitary District is seeking a highly motivated, and goal-driven individual to join our Collection System team as a Collection System Worker (CSW). The District will hire at the level of CSW I or CSW II depending on skills, certifications and licenses held by candidates in the pool of qualified applicants. 

The CSW performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of wastewater collection and reclamation systems, including inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs on lines, pump stations, and treatment facilities. The successful CSW I candidate will possess experience in general maintenance tasks, including the safe and effective operation of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. Possession of a commercial driver's license is highly desirable. Experience working with sewer cleaning trucks and equipment is also a plus. The successful CSW II candidate will have three or more years of experience in collection system maintenance. Experience in pump station maintenance is highly desirable.
