The Department

THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is looking for a dynamic, energetic, team oriented full-time (40-hours per week) Library Services Supervisor to manage, direct and coordinate a work area of the Youth Services and Community Engagement Division.  This individual will also work closely with the Library Division Manager to plan and deliver library programs for youth, coordinate the activities of the Library Makerspace, create the weekly customer service schedule, supervise staff, assist with marketing projects and other duties as assigned. The mission of the Redwood City Public Library is to cultivate community and advance equity by welcoming all people to experience the shared joys of literacy and learning. This position plays a key role in advancing that mission by fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging for our community. The Library Services Supervisor will work primarily at the Downtown Library and may travel to other branches. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

• Develop goals, policies, and priorities for the program; analyze library systems; recommend and implement changes in systems.
• Participate in the development of long-term strategic plans for service, implementing short and mid-term activities and programs to meet long-term goals.

POSITION DESCRIPTION 
 

The City of San Bruno Community Services Departments is hiring for a Library Page position at the San Bruno Public Library. The Library Page position is an entry-level, part-time role with limited benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in playing a key role in the library's daily operations. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available to work 14-19 hours per week, including weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays, to meet the library's scheduling needs.

 

Under the general supervision of library staff, Library Pages perform routine tasks to maintain the organization of the library collections, including the shelving, sorting, and filing of books, magazines, audiovisual materials, and other library materials. Pages also clean and mend library materials, help set-up for various Library programs, assist in the opening and closing of the Library building for public access, and perform other clerical tasks as needed.

 

This role is physically active and requires regular movement and exertion. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing physical tasks for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment. The Community Services Manager for Human Services is responsible for managing the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC) and administering a number of financial assistance programs for local residents, as well as basic emergency and safety net services such as food, transportation, shelter referrals, housing assistance, and client advocacy. FOCC serves as one of eight core agencies in San Mateo County who work in close collaboration with the County Human Services Agency to provide vulnerable individuals and families in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks with much needed support to stabilize their living situations through a robust Information and Referral program. FOCC also serves as a designated entry point for the Coordinated Entry System for people experiencing homelessness in San Mateo County to access shelter and other resources.

The Community Services Manager for Human Services also oversees more traditional community center functions, providing room rentals for private events as well as free meeting space for nonprofits and community-based organizations. The Community Services Manager supports and interacts with a significant number of partner agencies who deliver services through FOCC. The facility includes both an Older Adult Activity Center run independently by Peninsula Family Services and a Child Care and Early Development Program. Other services delivered on site by partners include immigration and citizenship services, ESL classes, tenants’ rights clinics, mobile shower and laundry services, a mobile health van, and more. The Community Services Manager negotiates, prepares, manages, and monitors contracts and agreements with service providers and community agencies, ensuring effective program delivery and inter-agency coordination.  

This position also provides leadership to inter-departmental and inter-agency collaborative projects including the OYE Latinx Youth Conference, the Redwood City/San Mateo County Toy and Book Program, the bi-annual San Mateo County Homeless One Day Count, and other critical community projects as they arise.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.  

• Certification in personal training or group fitness instruction required (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).  

• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or a related field preferred.  

• Experience in group instruction and one-on-one training is highly desirable. 

 

Knowledge and Skills

This position requires a knowledge of general fitness principles, exercise techniques, and wellness practices, instructing and motivating individuals or groups in a fitness setting, excellent communication to provide clear instruction and positive feedback and assessing client needs and creating individualized fitness programs. The position also requires ability to operate and maintain fitness equipment safely. 

Special Requirements: 

• Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

The Procurement Specialist reports to the Manager, Materials and Inventory Controls and is responsible for the acquisition of bus parts, equipment, supplies, and maintenance services for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans).

 

Essential Functions & Duties:

• Receive requisitions and process the purchasing of bus parts, equipment, supplies, and maintenance services.
• Assist with locating or determining appropriate bus part numbers, descriptions, catalogs and sources for items.
• Liaison between vendors and Stores staff to resolve purchasing issues.
• Work with finance and maintenance department staff to maintain vendor relationships and ensure contract compliance including timely payment of invoices.

The Civil Rights Analyst reports to the Manager, Civil Rights Programs and is responsible for supporting the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and labor compliance programs with data entry, contract compliance, outreach, monitoring, and reporting. The position will primarily work for Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain) and the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans).

 

The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is responsible for the administration and enforcement of local, state, and federal civil rights laws and regulations.

• Create and prepare compliance reports for submission to Federal Transit Administration, project teams, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage the District’s prompt payment database (B2Gnow).

• Assist OCR program staff with outreach, events and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate communications, community involvement, and vendor outreach events. Attend project meetings and outreach events as the District’s representative.

• Intermediate to advanced experience using Excel (pivot tables).
