Position Duties

The total salary range(s) for these classifications are:

Construction Inspector I: $78,514.80 - $95,659.20

Construction Inspector II: $ 88,866.96 - $108,217.20

Associate Construction Inspector $100,332.96 - $121,954.56

This range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. 

The Department of Public Works is currently seeking to fill one full-time vacancy in the Engineering Services Division.

The Associate Construction Inspectors assigned to the Construction Management Services-Utility (CMS-Fee) Section is responsible for technical inspection services to ensure compliance with City and State Standards and Specifications.   The CMS-Fee Section supports the work being performed by utility companies to construct public infrastructure that will be operated and maintained by the City including storm and sanitary facilities, streets, curb/gutter/sidewalk, street lights, traffic signals, etc.   Typical duties of an Associate Construction Inspector in this section include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Reviews plans and specifications to determine proper testing requirements and standards. 
• Inspects methods and materials used in the construction of streets, alleys, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm drains, catch basins, driveways, approaches, culverts, sewers, landscaping, etc. for compliance with plans. 
• Inspects actual field construction from rough grading to finished paving of streets, including installation of storm and sanitary sewer systems, concrete structures, utility installations, street lights, traffic signal systems, etc. 
• Schedules final inspections and recommends acceptance of projects. 
• Determines the acceptability of materials, especially when there is a question of inferior quality, including researching and reviewing records, logs, and data of various kinds. 
• Ensures conformance to Cal/OSHA safety regulations, including shoring of trenches, proper use of equipment and machines, and adequate public traffic control. 
• Employees may be required to lift test equipment, tools and construction materials with the use of proper equipment. 
• Performs Public Works emergency duties, such as flood watch when required. 
• Investigate and respond to construction inquires/complaints from other departments or the public. 
• Be a mentee for Senior Construction Inspector and assigned to specific inspection area.
• Be available to work various shifts; day, nights and weekends.

The Position:

Silicon Valley Power is seeking an experienced and passionate Energy Conservation Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy management and customer service, as well as a commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. Other Requirements: 

• May be expected to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, move large appliances short distances, and climb ladders to inspect attic spaces for certain programs.

SENIOR BUILDING INSPECTOR
Salary: $58.52 - $74.69 Hourly

OVERVIEW 
The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Construction Inspector with the Facilities Services office. 

The Construction Inspector is responsible for providing technical construction inspections of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related elements during construction or alteration of judicial branch buildings and facilities. • All staff 18+ are required to pass a fingerprint check submitted to the Department of Justice. 
• Sr. Recreation Leader: Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of the classification.

Inspiring Summers Camps: The camps serve children reading below grade level in areas where the majority of youth qualify for free or reduced lunch. Staff working intensively with enrolled youth will have the opportunity to make our community a stronger, healthier, and more equitable place. These summer learning experiences are a critical part of San Mateo County's strategy to dramatically reduce the number of youth who cannot read on grade level, a problem that disproportionately affects youth of color and socioeconomically disadvantaged youth. Help us support youth in a summer program aimed to build confident youth who will have the benefit of high-quality, cutting-edge learning experiences with caring and passionate adults.
 
Location: Big Lift Inspiring Summer Learning Facilitators will be assigned to work at one of eight camps with children who will be entering kindergarten, first, second, or third grade in the Fall. The camps are located in Daly City, Half Moon Bay, Millbrae, Pacifica, Pescadero, San Bruno, and South San Francisco.
 
Schedule: This 6 to 7-week internship will begin with 8 days of required training and will then continue with a 4 to 5-week assignment in one of our learning camps. The camp assignment will either be part-time (20-28 hours per week, 4-5 hours per day Monday-Thursday and all day on Friday) or full-time (35-40 hours per week, 7-8 hours per day Monday-Friday).
 
MANDATORY IN-PERSON TRAINING WILL BEGIN TUESDAY, MAY 26, OR MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2025, depending on site placement.

Qualifications

These positions are designed to support college-aged students, recent graduates, and paraprofessionals working in youth education.
 
Education or Experience: Experience working with youth or a demonstrated interest in working with youth. Examples include experience coaching, tutoring, providing childcare, and taking child development coursework. Experience in theater, arts, music, youth development, early childhood, social justice, and science is also preferred.
 
Age Recruitment: must be 16 years or older. 
 
Language: Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Plant/Pipeline Mechanical Technician I: $97,635.20 - $124,924.80 Annually
Plant/Pipeline Mechanical Technician II: $107,723.20 - $137,820.80 Annually

Overview:

The Plant/Pipeline Mechanical Technician I/II will perform maintenance and repair functions on industrial equipment used in water treatment, recycled water, water purification plants, pumping stations, and hydroelectric plants. This position will also work on related mechanical equipment components used for water treatment, storage, distribution, and flood control. They will be required to perform maintenance and repair duties on water conduits and equipment. As well as perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position will be assigned to work at one of Valley Water’s three water treatment plants in Santa Clara County and can be assigned to work rotating on-call weekends after approximately 1-2 years.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform preventive maintenance on treatment plant and pipeline facilities through methods such as fluid and filter changes; confer with operations staff to solve problems and determine needs; maintain water conduits and equipment including vacuum breakers, air releases, and water valves; perform confined space related duties.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications; estimate labor and materials for proposed work, perform work in accordance with these documents; make preliminary sketches of work to be performed or completed; locate, examine, clarify, identify, record and mark locations of creeks, pipelines, telemetry, test cables, and underground cables.
• Diagnose mechanical problems; recommend preventative and corrective repair; make estimates of labor, materials, and supplies required to complete assigned work; request required materials. Diagnose and repair meter pumps, calibrators, flocculation, and filtration methods through vibration analysis and temperature reading and other inspection techniques; confer with operations and engineering staff to solve problems and determine needs.
• Operate a variety of hand tools and power equipment including welding equipment, lathes, drill presses, sanders, trucks, forklifts, boom lift, scissor lifts, and overhead cranes.
• Maintain records of work performed; enter and retrieve data from a Computerized Maintenance system (CMMS); ensure proper completion of reports including confined entry documentation.

Ideal Training and Education:

Plant/Pipeline Mechanical Technician I:

Possession of a D-1 Water Distribution Operator certification issued by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Department of Drinking Water (DDW) within 18 months of appointment.

Plant/Pipeline Mechanical Technician II:

Possession of a D-2 Water Distribution Operator certification issued by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Department of Drinking Water (DDW) within 24 months of appointment.

This position requires the individual to be onsite and is typically not a teleworking position.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

We are active in county-wide law enforcement efforts by participating in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, Avoid the 23 (DUI) Task Force, Narcotic Task Force Details, Alcohol Beverage Control Operations, Office of Traffic Safety grants and as Police Academy Training Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.
• Respond to radio dispatched calls and reports to crime scenes or locations of disorder to protect life and property.
• Conduct investigations, gathers information and writes factual reports involving criminal activity, traffic accidents, suspicious activity, or other unusual incidents.
• Make arrests as necessary and writes report of all arrests made and activities performed.
• Interview and interrogate suspicious persons, suspects, and prisoners.
• Gather, mark, preserve, and record evidence in criminal or related matters; testify and present evidence in court.
• Serve warrants and subpoenas.
• Assist in the performance of special investigations and perform undercover and surveillance activities when necessary.

• Operation of police vehicle at high rates of speed during emergency situations.
• Use police vehicle radios as well as hand-held portables and use proper radio codes.
• Use hand-held and/or electronic equipment for drug and alcohol detection.
• Ability to process for and lift latent evidence.
• Finger print and take palm prints from arrestees.
• Use departmentally issued firearms safely and safety equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must be a US Citizen, at least 21 years of age on date of appointment, a US high school graduate (or GED equivalent), have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.  Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, read, comprehend, write, and speak English effectively.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

Applicants with more than a three year break in employment as a California Police Officer or who are an out-of-state Police Officer must provide evidence of successful completion of the CA Basic POST Course waiver process.
