The City of Foster City is looking for an experienced maintenance worker with a specialization in irrigation systems to fill the position of Irrigation Technician with the City's Park and Recreations Department. The position performs a variety of activities in the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems and related equipment in all City landscape irrigation systems. This is an advanced journey-level maintenance classification with specialization in irrigation systems.

Education and Experience

Selection Process

The City of Foster City is seeking a Police Sergeant to join our Police Department.  This leadership position is crucial in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and fostering community relations with our diverse city. 

Under general or direct supervision, the Police Sergeant plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of officers and non-sworn staff on an assigned shift within the Police Department. They perform the full range of field and office work in connection with patrol, traffic, investigative, youth services, and training programs. The San Mateo County Family Justice Center is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Forensic Interviewer - Spanish/English Bilingual Skills Required.  

The San Mateo County Family Justice Center is a newly created one-stop holistic service and support center for families and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of abuse.   The mission of the Center is to support survivors and their families by creating a single destination to receive crucial services and support. 

A division of the County of San Mateo’s District Attorney’s Office, the Family Justice Center (Center) is designed to be a County-run multi-agency, multi-disciplinary service center where both public and private partner agencies will assign staff on a full-time or part-time basis to provide services from one location. The Center’s focus is to reduce the number of times survivors tell their story, reducing the number of places they must go for help, and through active collaboration with community-based organizations, increasing the quality of services and support they receive.

The Position

The work of the Forensic Interviewer is an integral part of the services the Center offers.  Under the general direction of the Director of the Family Justice Center, the Forensic Interviewer conducts neutral, legally sound, developmentally and culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed interviews of children, teens, and vulnerable adults who are victims or witnesses to child abuse or neglect, violence, exploitation, or other crimes referred to San Mateo County’s Child Advocacy Center (CAC).  

Using nationally recognized protocols, the Forensic Interviewer gathers accurate and developmentally appropriate information while minimizing re-traumatization. Interviews are structured to support criminal investigations and may be used as evidence in court.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), the Forensic Interviewer collaborates closely with law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and advocates to ensure a coordinated, victim-centered response. The Forensic Interviewer is also responsible for thorough documentation and may provide expert testimony in legal proceedings. The role is essential in bridging the needs of the justice system with the safety and well-being of victims.  In addition to conducting interviews, the Forensic Interviewer will also attend regular peer reviews, monthly case reviews, and other meetings and trainings as required.

This is an opportunity for a committed public servant with extensive experience to support some of the County’s most vulnerable residents.  This position requires bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Candidates may have more experience in some areas than others, but successful hires will have at least five years of experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment with Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, or Human or Social Services and demonstrate these core competencies:

• Plans, organizes, reviews and evaluates the activities of assigned staff. Selects personnel and provides for their training and professional development.
• Provides technical and managerial direction to Air District staff and others.
• Reviews health policy issues related to air quality; develops and presents recommendations to the Air District’s Board, Committee, and executive management.
• Devises substantive health related policy and strategy for the Air District.
• Provides leadership and coordinates staff in conducting analyses of health-related issues; summarizes, prepares and presents reports of findings; coordinates with divisions to develop related policies and recommendations for actions to mitigate effects or address the issues.
• Conducts or coordinates complex and specialized health issue related studies involving technical, administrative and policy matters, often of a confidential nature.
• Serves as the Air District’s liaison with other agencies, including county health departments and state health agencies. Provides knowledge and guidance to support incident event notification.
• Coordinates with the Communications Office on health messaging.
• Tracks, reviews and analyzes current and proposed health related policies, regulations and legislation on the state, national and global level; notifies the Air District of significant activities and implications.
• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards.
• Researches national, state and local policy designed to address environmental health impacts; prepares opinions and recommendations on health related issues which impact the Air District’s programs and initiatives.
• Represents the Air District with industry, the public, special interest groups and other agencies on air quality and health and related matters. Represents the Air District to external stakeholders; may lead outreach efforts to the media and community groups when assigned.
• Assists with development and implementation of Community Emission Reduction Plans.
• Assists with the development of the Air District’s strategic plan and managing its implementation.
• Takes a leading role in convening, coordinating and administering the Air District’s Advisory Council.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Redwood City is known for delivering a large variety of high-quality special events year-round including concerts, festivals, cultural events, kids concerts, pop up recreational activities, and more. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently; understand proper setup and breakdown procedures of special events equipment; maintain and care for equipment as necessary; monitor program areas for quality assurance; operate effectively as a member of a team; report to supervisors orally and in writing; complete assigned paperwork such as timecards and incident and/or accident reports.
Work schedules can vary during the year pending current event programming. Candidates can expect an average of 15-20 hours per week throughout the year.
