LIBRARIAN I - PART-TIME - ADULT SERVICES

Regular Part-Time Employment Opportunity

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of Part-Time Librarian I in Adult Services with energetic and highly motivated individuals who possess excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.

 The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with the public in a fast-paced full-service library environment. Key responsibilities include creating new and innovative programs for the public, selecting interesting and relevant titles for the collection, assisting community members with their information needs, and expanding the Library's community engagement and outreach activities. The Adult Services Librarian works under the direction of the Supervising Librarian and other management staff in a team-oriented and forward-thinking environment. The position requires a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program.

The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future Librarian I – Part-Time – Adult Services vacancies at the Sunnyvale Main Library and the Lakewood Branch Library, expected to open in 2026.

Under general supervision, performs a full range of professional library duties in support of assigned functions; and performs other duties as required.

A Master's degree in Library and Information Science or similar field of study from an American Library Association accredited program.

Salary:  $42.41 - $59.54 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications

Budget Analyst I - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field AND three years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative analytical work experience, including two years of experience related to budget management or financial analysis.
 

Budget Analyst II - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field AND five years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative analytical work experience, including two years performing budget management or financial analysis in a public sector agency similar to the City of Sunnyvale.

A Master's degree in economics, accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of management and/or administrative analytical work experience.

What's the Role and What You'll Do

We are looking for a driven and detailed professional to take on the role of Accounting Technician. You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, processing the City’s utility billing and other revenue streams and assisting in accounting matters within the Revenue Division of the Finance and Administrative Services Department. This position receives direction from the Revenue Manager and Financial Analyst, may exercise technical and functional supervision over lower-level accounting clerical positions, and may act as a lead over a designated work unit. What You’ll Do

• Process utility bills for residents and businesses in the City.
• Work with other departments and the City’s waste management service to accurately set up complex utility accounts and process utility bill adjustments.
• Interact with and assist customers to set up, adjust, and/or close their utility accounts and provide general customer service support.
• Reconcile revenue and financial accounting systems, interfacing transactional data between them.
• Create invoices for various departments to collect fees and other sources of revenue.
• Review, reconcile, and record daily revenue transactions.
• Assist with various month-end and year-end accounting tasks specific to the Revenue section.

The Essentials

• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting clerical experience.
• Education equivalent to an associate of arts degree in accounting or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for some of the required education on a year-to-year basis.

Highly desirable  

• Utility billing and miscellaneous revenue collection and/or customer service experience.
• Experience with financial and/or utility billing software.
• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.

HOUSING OFFICER

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Housing Officer to oversee the Housing Division in the Community Development Department, responsible for the City's affordable housing programs, human services funding, federal grants and homeless services. The ideal candidate will be a passionate affordable housing professional known for being creative and solution-oriented and will be well-versed in state and federal housing legislation and familiar with the unique challenges presented by California's housing market. This position manages the City's varied federal, state and local housing programs and projects and is responsible for managing the technical, fiscal and policy aspects of complex projects and programs. This position serves as liaison to the Housing and Human Services Commission which advises the City Council on funding and policy related to affordable housing and human services. The Housing Officer needs to work collaboratively with the Director, the other two program managers, the Housing Division staff, and many directors and program managers in other City Departments. Assistant Architect- This classification is eligible for a 4% professional incentive pay for maintaining a valid Registered Architect license issued by the State of California. The incentive will end if the incumbent leaves the classification or fails to maintain the required license.

Under direction, to act as liaison agent between the potential occupants of County owned facilities and contract architects engaged in the design of buildings; to plan and design building and alterations to building; and to assign work, give instructions and pass upon architectural projects.

About Engineering & Program Delivery Division

This division is responsible for the design and construction of all capital projects and infrastructure required to provide a safe, reliable and efficient transportation system for Santa Clara County. These responsibilities include program and project management, design development, engineering management, project controls, construction management and turnover of various projects that are part of VTA's rail, facilities and highway transportation improvement programs.

This division is also responsible for the implementation of the projects identified in the 2000 Measure A Program, which includes the planning, design, and construction of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART Silicon Valley) Project.
