What You’ll Do

The Permit Center Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, coordinates and participates in the work of the Permit Center team assigned to assist customers with successfully interfacing with the City’s planning, building, development, and permit processes. The position also provides technical expertise in building and zoning code administration and the development review processes. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, organize, and supervise the work of staff engaged in building permit issuance, development application review, and plan check activities.
• Provide direct oversight of all permit functions including proper coordination of all applications received; manage timely and proper routing of all submittals.
• Ensure that permits for construction and associated fees are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with established procedures, the uniform codes, state laws, and local ordinances governing land use development.
• Select and recommend appointment of personnel, monitor employee performance objectives, prepare and present employee performance reviews; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; establish and communicate Permit Center priorities, goals, and objectives.
• Coordinate activities and development reviews with other City departments and divisions, and with outside agencies as determined necessary.
• Ensure proper input and maintenance of all statistical permit processing data.
• Assist with general updates, maintenance and enhancements related to the City’s permitting software.
• Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications and establish policy and procedures; prepare various reports on operations and activities.

The Permit Center Supervisor receives general direction from the Deputy Building Official or higher level department personnel and exercises direct supervision over technical and support personnel.

Qualifications

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The Parks and Recreation Department is composed of a Director and 22 full-time management positions. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Community Services, Parks, Facilities and Common Greens divisions.

The Parks Division is in charge of planning and maintaining the City’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other landscaping and performs a wide range of tasks in order to care for City parks and open spaces. Staff work throughout the year to refresh the appearance of parks repairing or replacing items as needed to keep public spaces clean and safe. There are approximately 25 parks and play lots, including Sign Hill Park, which has 60 acres of open space, and Centennial Way Linear Park, a 3-mile pedestrian and bicycle trail. Amenities include Centennial Dog Park, bocce ball courts, an above-ground skate park, a variety of ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, picnic shelters and group picnic areas.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Education: High School Diploma or GED; post high school or specialized administrative support training desirable. Associate' degree in Business Administration is highly desirable.

Experience:  Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience providing project management support; at least two (2) years of administrative support to a manager at an executive, division, or department head level. One (1) year of supervisory experience is desirable.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license. Specific positions may require the possession of or the ability to become a Notary Public.  A Notary Public certification is required within 3 months of appointment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Speak clearly and understandably; ability to work in a standard office environment and use computer software applicable to the job; physical stamina and mental alertness to work additional hours to meet deadlines; hear and speak well enough to converse by telephone and in person and be clearly understood.

The Department

THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is looking for a dynamic, energetic, team oriented full-time (40-hours per week) Library Services Supervisor to manage, direct and coordinate a work area of the Youth Services and Community Engagement Division.  This individual will also work closely with the Library Division Manager to plan and deliver library programs for youth, coordinate the activities of the Library Makerspace, create the weekly customer service schedule, supervise staff, assist with marketing projects and other duties as assigned. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop goals, policies, and priorities for the program; analyze library systems; recommend and implement changes in systems.

POSITION DESCRIPTION 
 

The City of San Bruno Community Services Departments is hiring for a Library Page position at the San Bruno Public Library. The Library Page position is an entry-level, part-time role with limited benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in playing a key role in the library's daily operations. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available to work 14-19 hours per week, including weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays, to meet the library's scheduling needs.

Under the general supervision of library staff, Library Pages perform routine tasks to maintain the organization of the library collections, including the shelving, sorting, and filing of books, magazines, audiovisual materials, and other library materials. Pages also clean and mend library materials, help set-up for various Library programs, assist in the opening and closing of the Library building for public access, and perform other clerical tasks as needed.

This role is physically active and requires regular movement and exertion. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing physical tasks for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 

Knowledge of:

• Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Operate library tools and machines safely and efficiently.

• Maintain visual acuity to efficiently locate and shelve materials.

• Work effectively with fellow Library Pages and staff in a team environment.
