San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services has career opportunities for Psychiatric Social Workers or Marriage and Family Therapists seeking to serve immigrants, first and second generation Latinx youth and adults, migrant farmworkers, rural working class, and other underserved clients facing the largest barriers to services and support every day. 

Currently we have one full time regular position on the outpatient School Based Mental Health Team at Coastside, Half Moon Bay (may occasionally be needed in San Mateo) that is bilingual Spanish required. The position entails working with Special Education students providing intensive individual therapy, family therapy, crisis intervention, and case management.

What we are seeking 

The ideal candidate will possess: 

• Solid clinical treatment, assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills. 
• Experience/interest in providing treatment to youth (individual therapy, family therapy, and case management). 
• Experience/interest in working with youth with emotional disturbances and with varying degrees of functional impairment and psychiatric presentations.
• Knowledge of Special Education and Individualized Education Plans
• Experience/interest in risk assessments, crisis assessments, and triage.
• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management as well as evidence-based practices. 
• Demonstrated ability or interest in working with a broad range of clients from diverse cultures, and backgrounds, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate clinical services. 
• Experience/interest in working in rural communities and/or migrant and seasonal farm working population. 

• Experience/interest in working collaboratively with primary care, psychiatry, and school districts. 
• Experience/interest in generating community referrals and helping clients to connect with those community resources. 
• Comprehensive and timely documentation skills: assessments, progress notes, client care plans, discharge plans, etc. 
• The ability to make sound decisions based on the exercise of judgment and the consideration of all available information. 

Minimum qualifications include: 

Licensure/Certification:

• Psychiatric Social Worker I: Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker.  If an individual is not registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker at the time of hire, they must have submitted the application, and must obtain and provide the registration number within 90 days of hire.  An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California within three years of appointment.
• Psychiatric Social Worker II:  Current California license as a Clinical Social Worker.

• Marriage and Family Therapist I:  Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. If an individual is not registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at the time of hire, they must have submitted the application, and must obtain and provide the registration number within 90 days of hire.  An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California.

The Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) Division is seeking an experienced individual to serve as a Mental Health Program Specialist for the Prenatal to Three Unit.  

This position coordinates and supervises a specialized behavioral health program serving pregnant and postpartum caregivers and children ages 0-5, provides clinical leadership, supervises a small team of professionals and interns, collaborates with community partners and helps design and maintain responsive service delivery systems.

Key Responsibilities 

Clinical Supervision & Leadership

• Supervise Clinicians and interns, including case consultation, reflective supervision, and performance evaluations
• Triage referrals and assign cases
• Refer clients to the Prenatal to Three Team Psychiatrist
• Lead team clinical meetings and facilitate clinical discussions at staff meetings
• Carry a small caseload

Direct Clinical Oversight

• The team provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children ages 0–5 and pregnant or postpartum caregivers, including:
• Infant mental health assessments
• Youth and adult assessments
• Dyadic parent-child treatment
• Clinic-based and home-based services throughout San Mateo County

Program Coordination & Systems Collaboration

• Coordinate program activities with BHRS clinics, Family Health systems, private providers, schools, state institutions, and community agencies
• Establish and maintain program procedures consistent with federal, state, and local regulations
• Participate in program planning, policy implementation, and evaluation
• Represent the Prenatal to Three Team in collaborative meetings with Public Health Nurses, Community Workers, Psychiatrists, and other providers
• Provide consultation to community agencies regarding infant and early childhood mental health services

The current vacancy is in the Prenatal to Three Unit, located in San Mateo. This position may travel throughout the county to attend meetings or perform other duties of the position.

What You’ll Bring:

• At least two years of post-licensure experience providing direct clinical care to youth and families.
• Experience working with children ages 0-5 and pregnant or postpartum women, providing parent-child psychotherapy. 
• Experience conducting mental health assessments of infants, children under the age of five and adults. 
• Knowledge of infant and child development, attachment, and trauma-informed care.
• At least one year of home-visiting experience.
• Training or certification in one or more of the following:
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:
 California license as one of the following: 1) Clinical Social Worker; 2) Marriage and Family Therapist; or 3) Clinical Psychologist
  
Education and Experience:  
 Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three years of experience as a Mental Health professional.

Knowledge of:

• Principles, techniques and practices of program management and delivery.
• Principles and practices of employee supervision and training.
• Applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and County policies and guidelines.
• Individual, group and family psychodynamics.
• Psychological diagnostic methods and terminology.
• Current principles and practices of psychiatric casework.
• Human and health services systems in the County, including private agencies and other community resources.
• Various methods used in individual and group therapies such as role playing, play, art, milieu and group.
• Methods and techniques used in mental health education.

 Skill/Ability to:

• Plan, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of interdisciplinary subordinates.
• Train staff in work procedures and provide technical and programmatic assistance to staff and subcontractors.
• Analyze, interpret and apply various regulations, requirements and/or clinical approaches.
• Prepare grant proposals and written reports.
• Set realistic treatment goals and facilitate their attainment.
• Evaluate patients/clients’ degree of mental disability or emotional distress.
• Communicate effectively in writing and orally and make public presentations as needed.
• Establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
• Exercise sound independent judgment within general policy and regulatory guidelines.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Library Activity Leader supports the Youth Services and Neighborhood Libraries Divisions working year-round at the family friendly Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library. They work with library staff to create and deliver storytimes, events and programs, follow library policy and procedures, and provide excellent customer service to families, children and teens at the branch libraries.

The City of Belmont Parks & Recreation Department is recruiting for the position of Recreation Leaders for Summer 2026. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for enthusiastic high school students to train and work within our After School Sports Program as a flag football, volleyball, or basketball official. On game days, youth referees will be partnered with experienced officials that will provide training and mentorship. Youth officials will typically work two days a week. Game days and times are Monday through Thursday, from 3:45pm-7pm.

Official’s shirt, whistle, and training resources are provided. All training is provided by the Silicon Valley Sports Officials Association. Training dates will vary based on sport and season and will include classroom and hands-on instruction.

Flag Football and Volleyball Training Season - APPLICATIONS DUE BY AUGUST 1

• Training - Mid-August – September
• League games begin the last week of September – second week of November
