a)  Possession of a California Basic POST Course Certificate written exam certificate with a preferred T-score of 52 or above. The Position: Police Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention work; control traffic flow and enforce state and local regulations; perform investigative work; participate in and provide support and assistance to special department crime prevention and enforcement programs and do related police work as assigned. Duties and hours will vary with assignments.

General

The ADA Analyst is responsible for ensuring accessibility compliance across our bus stops, transit centers, vehicles, and facilities for San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) and Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Authority (Caltrain).  Under the direction of the ADA Administrator, the successful candidate must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and maintain strong working relationships with staff, consultants, and the public. A solid background in ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance, accessibility standards, and/or building codes is essential.

Essential Functions & Duties

Examples of Essential Functions:

• Support the ADA Administrator in the development, coordination, and implementation of the ADA Transition Plan and Self-Evaluation.
• Ensure accessibility considerations are integrated into agency planning, operations, and capital projects.
• Serve as a technical resource to staff, consultants, and project teams on ADA and CBC accessibility requirements.
• Monitor and track compliance with applicable accessibility codes, regulations, and standards.
• Contribute to creating a culture of accessibility, inclusivity, and continuous improvement within the agency.

• Conduct field evaluations of bus stops, shelters, transit facilities, and rights-of-way for ADA and CBC compliance.
• Review project plans, construction documents, and specifications to verify accessibility compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to planners, engineers, and project managers during design and construction.
• Respond to accessibility inquiries and assist in the resolution of ADA-related complaints.
• Prepare clear written reports summarizing field findings, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate record-keeping systems and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to address accessibility issues and support project delivery.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm.  Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: 

• A Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in accessibility compliance, ADA analysis, building inspection, or directly related field.
• Professional working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessibility standards.
• Able to conduct field inspections in San Mateo and neighboring counties.

• Able to possess a valid CA driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, consultants, and the public.
• Experience reviewing project plans or documents for ADA compliance.
• Professional experience in compliance measures or enforcement of ADA requirements. 
• Experience developing site-specific construction designs or plans. 
• Experience with field construction and trade work.
• Experience collaborating with internal and external customers and diverse stakeholders including disabled individuals, regulatory agencies, and public advocacy groups. 
• Experience using accessibility evaluation tools, hardware, and software to assess compliance and identify accessibility issues proactively.

DEFINITION
Under general direction, performs complex and responsible technical and clerical work for the Director of Human Resources and as administrative support to the City's Human Resources Department. Completes related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An incumbent in this position is a Human Resources generalist performing a wide range of personnel assignments in administering and processing health and welfare benefits; managing the administrative duties associated with the Personnel Board and overseeing the preparation and management of all employee requisition and action forms; managing the office and providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, the Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s).

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Serves as Assistant for the Personnel Board, other related meetings, and disciplinary and appeal hearings by collecting, preparing, and sending agendas, taking and transcribing minutes, and typing and distributing minutes and other material. Processes and manages distribution retiree health reimbursement checks. Administers Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Program, tracks employee driving records and issues quarterly department list of commercial drivers’ medical expirations. May assist in responding to internal and external surveys. May assist department personnel with data entry on applicant tracking program, proctoring Civil Service examinations, in administering certification of active Civil Service Employment Lists using applicant tracking program, and assists with City-wide events. Processes employee separations and cafeteria plan worksheets, enters employee information into ERP system, tracks employee trainings; and processes invoices.

Provides support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s). Administers the documentation requirements of the 1986 Immigration and Control Act. Prepares and processes required Human Resources’ forms, such as new employee forms and employee Action Forms. Assists with preparation and publication of the employee newsletter. Maintains and orders office supplies and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Ability to: Communicates effectively both orally and in writing; speaks to and direct large groups; Interacts positively and cooperate with co-workers, responds politely to customers, works as a team member, functions under demanding time pressure, responds in a positive manner to supervision, attends work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis. Understands and applies instructions, rules, regulations and policies including the City’s Rules and Regulations of the Classified Service; analyzes, processes and schedules detailed work accurately; learns, understands, and communicates employee benefit parameters and regulations, learns and uses Microsoft Office Suite applications, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), applicant tracking system and other City software programs. Transcribes proceedings at meetings of commissions, boards or special committees; exercises good judgment in matters of a confidential nature; works independently in absence of supervision.

Knowledge of: Appropriate English grammar and spelling; current office equipment and methods including operation of computer programs, including advanced, competent use of Microsoft Word; record keeping and organizational practices; basic arithmetic; and certain federal, state and municipal personnel regulations.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in administrative and Human Resources technical work that involved regular contact with the public.

About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of facilities maintenance for Midpen’s Administrative Office, including building operations, vehicle fleet inspections, landscaped grounds, parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This unique position has a foundation in older residential property improvements in a rural setting, including spring systems, old style construction including log framing, historic farm building construction, multiple materials and additions to the buildings are all aspects and considerations for repairs and tenant improvements. This position is also responsible for non-routine repairs and improvements at Midpen’s field properties and performs preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will coordinate  and oversee Midpen’s utilization of contractors and act as a point of contact for a wide range  of maintenance and repair tasks. Successful performance in this role requires broad  knowledge of facility maintenance trades and technical principles, as well as a professional background and the ability to effectively collaborate  with other Midpen departments. Work Environment:  This position is part of the  Facilities & Fleet Department and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed at Midpen’s administrative office in Los Altos, field facilities, and also at residential properties located primarily in the field. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, be called back after hours and on weekends or respond to and perform work in emergency situations as required.  When conducting field assignments, work may include traversing rough, difficult terrain in inclement or hot weather with exposure to poison oak, wildlife and rodent inhabitants.  Duties will include building and facility work that will require climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.  Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of conditions, as well as in an office environment. Positions in this classification must possess the ability to lift and carry materials and objects weighing up to 60 pounds and must possess the ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with the use of proper equipment. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in facilities management, construction project management or a related field or training in applicable trades, and
• Three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or related facilities.

Completion of an apprenticeship program or the equivalent training in one or more of the construction trades is highly desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and able to obtain a work permit if under the age of 18. Candidates must complete and pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification, by June 1, 2026. While not required, Water Safety Instruction (WSI) certification is highly desirable.

Lifeguard Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure Patron Safety: The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to protect lives by preventing injuries and accidents. This includes remaining alert and vigilant, actively monitoring the pool and surrounding areas, recognizing hazards early, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies—including water rescues, CPR, and first aid.
• Enforce Rules Consistently: Lifeguards help patrons stay safe by enforcing facility rules fairly and consistently. This involves monitoring behavior, addressing unsafe actions, and educating patrons about safe practices.
• Maintain a Clean and Safe Facility: Lifeguards assist with daily maintenance and cleanliness of the facility. Tasks may include checking and recording chemical levels, organizing and inspecting equipment (including rescue buoy, Shepard's hook, First Aid pack, etc...), picking up trash and debris, and reporting or addressing unsafe facility conditions.
• Availability: Ability to work a minimum 25 hours a week from June 15th – August 9th, including some weekends. Pre-planned and approved vacation requests may be accommodated.

Swim Instructor Job Responsibilities:

• Provide Instruction Across Levels: Teach swim lesson participants across a range of skill levels, following established curriculum and safety standards.
• Ensure Participant Safety: Maintain constant awareness and create a safe learning environment for all participants within your class.
• Maintain Professional Class Operations: Arrive prepared and work all scheduled hours, begin and end classes on time, stay afterward to answer participant or parent questions, and ensure all equipment and supplies are properly cleaned.

About the Opportunity

The City of Millbrae is looking for a full-time Planning Manager based in Millbrae, California.

Reporting to the Community Development Director, you will play a pivotal role in managing planning functions, leading staff, and shaping the city’s land use, housing, and environmental policies.

More About You

Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, architecture, public administration, housing, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of required experience.

Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in urban planning or housing, including 1 year in a supervisory or project lead role.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is highly desirable.

Assigned Location: Midpen is currently seeking to fill one Supervising Ranger position, reporting to an Area Superintendent. This assignment is scheduled to begin in July 2026, and will be based at the Foothills Field Office in Cupertino (Address: 501 Rancho San Antonio Drive, Cupertino, CA 95014). The District reserves the right to reassign employees to other locations as staffing and service requirements evolve.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments.  Outdoor work includes exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to travel on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain, and to perform all related emergency services, and maintenance work, throughout District lands. Work schedules will vary and will include evening, weekend and holiday hours.

A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to an Associate degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience working in the protection, operation of a park, forest, public recreation area, or the equivalent. Education and/or experience in law enforcement, resource management, natural sciences, park management, or wildland firefighting, is highly desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License (or ability to obtain one upon appointment for candidates possessing an out of state license).
• Possession of a District approved Law Enforcement Training certification.
• Possession of a valid California Penal Code 832 certificate, for appointment as a peace officer.
• Possession of a certificate of completion, or ability to complete, the District’s Field Training Program.
• Possession of a valid Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certificate or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid Professional Rescuer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, the level of certification in the Incident Command System courses as specified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a District approved Wildland Fire Suppression Training certification.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a POST FTO certificate.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain if assigned, a POST FTO-SAC (Field Training Program Coordinator’s Course) Certificate.

Peace Officer Standards: This position requires the incumbent meet the standards for being a Peace Officer as outlined in Government Code Section 1031. This includes successful completion of a PC 832 training or Basic Police Academy within the last three years, unless the applicant is currently working as a California Peace Officer.  PC 832 training may be obtained after hire for out of state candidates.

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The Department of Community Development is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Management Fellow. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Community Development Department is seeking a value-driven team player to join the Department. Through mentorship and under general supervision, the Fellow will assist in coordinating and managing specific projects to completion in the areas of budgeting, planning, community engagement, procurement, and legislative policy, especially related to the Planning and Building Divisions in Community Development.

Some of the various projects and responsibilities may include:

• Performing policy research and analysis, identifying relevant legislation, and developing recommendation positions as related to Planning and Building policy

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy

Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs repair, maintenance and alterations of electrical equipment including toll equipment and facilities on the bridge, shops, roadways, administration building and other District offices.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on all electrical and related equipment, according to established maintenance schedule, for bridge facilities and buildings and for other divisions as requested.
• Inspects and repairs electrical motors, transformers, switch gear, heating, ventilating and air conditioning controls, alarms, signal systems, navigation aids, roadway lighting.
• Performs alteration work and other duties, as direct or requested, on all District offices, terminals and facilities.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance is required.
