The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Transportation Planner to help keep the Sunnyvale transportation network safe and efficient while planning for future growth. The position will mainly develop, launch, and manage the City's new citywide microtransit service. This includes coordination with the microtransit/shuttle service provider, with the internal Communications team on branding and marketing, and the grant program administration agency.  The position will also respond to citizen concerns and comments about the service, perform outreach related to the service, manage the program budget, ensure grant program requirements are met, and look for grants for future program funding.

Under general direction, this position may also assist in current and long-range transportation planning for the City. The position may also manage and review land development traffic studies; perform level of service analyses for intersections and arterials using computer models like Synchro, and Vistro; apply for grant funds; and perform other duties as assigned.
 
The City is seeking a Transportation Planner with strong project management, analytical, technical and problem-solving skills, along with proficient oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have an excellent ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams; the ability to prioritize and deliver results in a constantly changing environment; and a proven ability to establish effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and vendors.

Overview:

The Capital Project Management and Project Controls Program supports capital projects that deliver safe, clean water, flood protection and environmental stewardship throughout the county by providing streamlined solutions for the oversight and management of capital projects. Under this program, Valley Water has implemented and now manages a project management information system (PMIS) for projects in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and other business intelligence and analytics tools to provide enhanced project data analysis and reporting. The program also oversees the quality management system documentation of procedures and work instructions relating to the delivery of capital projects; provides regular updates on the status of capital projects to the Board of Directors and the Board’s CIP Committee; and coordinates with various departments across multiple divisions to create engagement and transparency in our agency’s multifaceted business areas. This position will be expected to provide analysis and support for all aspects of capital project delivery. This position will focus on developing and maintaining performance reporting and dashboards for capital projects. The Management Analyst will be expected to be well versed in data analysis and dashboard creation and able to assist in developing recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, financial, budgetary, and procedural improvements. This position requires a high level of flexibility, problem solving and customer service skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and resources and to complete deliverables under general supervision. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 

Data Analysis and Performance Reporting

• Analyze project and program data to identify trends, gaps, and performance improvement opportunities. 
• Develop and maintain datasets related to project schedules, costs, risks, and performance indicators.

Dashboard Development and Maintenance

• Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI (or other business intelligence and analytics tools) and PMIS to visualize project performance metrics, financial summaries, and CIP portfolio status.
• Collaborate with Information Technology, Financial Planning, and other departments to automate data feeds and ensure real-time updates where possible. 
• Customize dashboards for different audiences including executives, project managers, and external stakeholders. 

Capital Project Management and Project Controls Program Support

• Provide support and process improvement suggestions for Capital Quality and Environmental Management System (QEMS), process documents and work with process owners to regularly update documents; coordinate biennial QEMS and other capital training courses. 
• Support the development and standardization of CIP reporting processes and templates.
• Document business processes related to project tracking, data management, and reporting workflows. 
• Assist in the implementation of new tools and systems to improve capital project reporting and analysis.
• Provide site admin support and training coordination for PMIS.
• Assist other areas of the Business Planning and Analysis Unit where needed. 

Capital Improvement Program Support 

• Track project progress and flag deviations from approved timelines or budgets. 
• Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and Board committees.
• Provide support as needed in the preparation and maintenance of the rolling annual CIP five-year plan.

Business Planning and Analysis Unit (Position Code 28)
Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to work within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.  

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite.

TEMPORARY LIBRARY SPECIALIST III, PART TIME

 The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the positions of Temporary Library Specialist III. An energetic and highly motivated individual who possesses excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills is needed. 
 
 This classification provides clerical support for Library operations and programs by receiving and responding to patron questions, performing circulation duties, and performing duties related to the opening and closing of the Library. This classification differs from the lower-level classification of Library Specialist II in that the Library Specialist II performs the more routine duties.

Essential Job Functions:

(May include, but are not limited to, the following):

• Conducts transactions with the public and employees including the acceptance of payments or fees, registration of new library cards, checking library materials in and out using either manual or automated circulation systems, updating patron records, preparation of requisitions, and receiving reports, distribution of documents, data, or information.
• Provides information about library services, policies, and procedures to the public.
• Performs simple operations for updating or blocking certain fields in a patron's record and performs related work on the online system.
• Assists and trains patrons on the use of the Technology Center; troubleshoots public access computer issues; and responds to patron questions regarding computer usage.
• Uses the online system to search for library materials and patron information.
• Assists in receiving and resolving patron complaints and questions.
• Deletes and discards outdated and damaged library materials from circulation system.
• Processes and shelves holds and other library materials.

• Performs simple maintenance on library equipment and machines.

In addition to the duties above, employees may be assigned to one or more workgroups.
 
 If assigned to the Circulation work group, additional duties include:

• Provides first point of contact customer service to patrons in person and on the phone.
• Performs daily start-up and closing operations for the computerized circulation system including setting up and taking down self check-out machines, logging on and off computers and restocking the circulation desk.
• Delivers library materials to homebound residents and offsite locations.

If assigned to the Technical Services work group, additional duties include:

• Processes new library materials; applies labels and creates packaging; programs RFID tag, enters information into circulation system and organizes onto carts for processing.
• Corrects call number labels and barcodes; reviews and resolves issues related to media playability.
• Receives and processes receiving slips and invoices for payments.
• Maintains work group's processing manual.
• Develops, maintains, and archives a variety of files, fling systems, and records.
• Collects information from various sources and compiles data for reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS
 Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal customer service. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper, books, carts and documents weighing up to 50 pounds is also required. The responsibilities of the City Attorney's Office consist of representing and advising the City Council and all City officers in all matters of law pertaining to their offices, representing and appearing on behalf of the City in all legal actions or proceedings, providing the City Council with information and advice regarding ongoing litigation and legislation affecting the City, and staffing City Council meetings and City boards and commission meetings as necessary. The Office consists of eight attorneys and a Risk Manager, who are supported by a full time Legal Executive Assistant and Legal Office Specialist (recently added in the FY 25-26 budget), as well as a part time Office Assistant.

The Position: 

The Legal Executive Assistant position is in the City Attorney’s Office and provides support to the City’s attorneys, as well as the Risk Manager.  This is a critical administrative support role in the City Attorney’s Office that is responsible for assisting with a wide variety of legal documents, processes and procedures. The ideal candidate should possess a high level of confidentiality, communication skills, tact and discretion, and be able to manage and track multiple projects for multiple attorneys simultaneously.  

The Legal Executive Assistant is distinguished from other classes in the administrative support series in that the incumbent provides responsible, confidential, administrative support services for the City Attorney and other attorneys in the Office. • Experience in law office procedures, including court calendaring, litigation procedures, file system organization, records retention and management, and workflow management
• Four (4) years of experience in a legal office setting highly desirable
• Public sector experience highly desirable
