Water System Worker I

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Water System Worker I to assist in the operation and maintenance of the City’s water distribution system, including pumps, mains, chlorinators, meters, and other equipment; and perform related work as required on an assigned shift, under the general supervision of the Utilities Systems Supervisor and/or Director of Public Works.

The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking to fill (1) one full-time Maintenance Worker position within the Urban Forestry division and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include but are not limited to: Under supervision performs routine manual labor, maintenance, and repair tasks while learning to perform a full range of semi-skilled work required in maintenance, repair, operations and construction of related facilities, parks, streets, and services; performs other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the City’s Urban Forestry, Parks, Streets, Collections or Building Maintenance Divisions.  Eligible lists may be valid for up to twelve months.
 

Part-time temporary assignment assisting Code Enforcement. This assignment expires at the end of December 2026 or until ARPA funds deplete.

Summary Description

Under immediate supervision performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work assigned to the streets division; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the entry level class in the Street Maintenance Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Street Maintenance Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Representative Duties

1. Handle complaints and answer questions from the public.
2. Remove blight and illegal dumps from city property such as parks, right of ways, roadways, alleys, walkways, sidewalks and refuse disposal. 
3. Remove debris, shrubbery, brush, trash, tires, appliances, electronics, and miscellaneous items.
4. Make minor adjustments on service equipment; maintain tools and equipment in working order.
5. Abates graffiti.
6. Maintain logs of daily activities.
7. Assist in other areas as needed.
8. Perform related duties as required.
9. Repair and replace street surfaces, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters including back filling trenches and evacuations.
10. Perform the maintenance, repair, construction, and installation work of streets, storm drain, parking lots, street lights, traffic striping, and traffic control signs and signals.
11. Remove hazards from the roadway and other public rights of way.
12. Operate a variety of motorized equipment and specialized maintenance equipment.
13. Perform repaving, patching, overlaying, chuck hole, and crack sealing repair of asphalt.
14. Perform underground service alert locating, marking and notification.
15. Lay out and install traffic signs and pavement markings.
16. Repair and maintain storm drain lift stations.
17. Conduct traffic count surveys.
18. Maintain storm detention ponds, including cleaning, repairing, and spraying weeds.
19. Respond to hazardous materials spills.

THE POSITION

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Director of Finance.  This executive position performs highly responsible and complex professional work.  Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates financial planning, accounting, revenue administration, data processing, purchasing, preparation of payroll, investments telecommunication accounts, billing and collection of utilities and other user charges; provides highly responsible professional and technical staff assistance to the City Administrator, City Council, and departments; and performs other related work as required;  The finance director is also designated to be the City Treasurer. 

The City of Stockton seeks to fill an Information Technology Supervisor position with primary responsibilities around Enterprise Applications. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining enterprise applications, GIS applications, data integrations, budgeting,  and managing assigned staff within the Information Technology Department.  This Information Technology Supervisor is accountable for the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required to ensure that assigned information systems at the City are evolving to providing value to the departments in a secure and cost-efficient way.

The incumbent will work closely with other supervisors and leaders in the IT department to coordinate activities to ensure software applications, hardware, virtualization, cloud deployment, and cyber tool deployments are successful and execution follows established methodical processes.

Information Technology Supervisors work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with alternating Fridays off. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends to provide critical support to key initiatives.

Detective Assignment

• Must have successfully completed a POST certified basic academy not more than three (3) years prior to the date of application.
• Must possess or be eligible to possess a Proof of Eligibility (POE) or certificate (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced) from California Peace Officer Standards and Training under SB 2.  Ineligibility or decertification from POST will automatically disqualify candidate from holding a peace officer classification.

Experience:

• Some work experience as a California peace officer or other work experience that demonstrates a general aptitude for police work.

PATTERN II –LATERAL TRANSFER

• Successfully completed (at any time) a California POST certified basic law enforcement academy: AND
• Must be currently employed in a California law enforcement agency with at least one (1) year of full-time experience as a sworn peace officer with a California law enforcement agency, and be eligible for appointment as a Peace Officer under Section 830.1 PC; AND
• Must possess a basic POST certificate issued by California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training or other documentation to substantiate your eligibility.

This position serves individuals and families with complex mental health needs, helping reduce barriers to care through culturally responsive, trauma-informed practice.  This position will report to the Medical Director or a Supervising/Lead Psychiatrist.

Key Responsibilities/Examples of Essential Duties*:

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments.

• Diagnose and treat mental health disorders using DSM criteria.

• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications independently.

The Park Assistant III (Class: 180) will perform a variety of skilled park maintenance work. This is skills-based physical labor work, in all weather conditions, for a person at an entry level or intermediate level. The work performed will support MRCA’s operation of nature parks within greater Los Angeles and other MRCA efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development.

Park Assistant III positions exist in the Routes, Construction and Developed Resources Divisions and specific duties may include but are not limited to:

Duties for the Developed Resources division also include repairs to utility infrastructure, building repairs, and skilled gardening, and assistance during special events.

Duties for the Construction division also include building renovation (carpentry, electrical, plumbing), utility infrastructure repairs, and new construction of park amenities and irrigation systems.

Depending on the division, the position may report to an Operations Manager, Deputy Division Chief or Division Chief. The position does not supervise other staff but may occasionally direct the work of volunteers, court crews, seasonal workers, volunteers, and youth crews. Family Camp at Yosemite is located in the Sierras, about 10 miles west of Yosemite National Park. Family Camp is a summer recreational facility run by the City of San Jose. The camp serves 250-300 campers per day. The program is geared for families by providing lodging, meal service, recreation activities and retail operations.

This part time Maintenance Assistant opportunity is with the Destination, Events and Sports Unit (DES) in the Park Division of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services. 

NOTE: This position requires the part-time Maintenance Assistant to report onsite to the Family Camp Yosemite facility in Groveland, California. On-site living facilities are available during the peak season. May-October 1. A potential schedule for this position could work four days a week during peak season and the remainder of the hours during the off season. Schedule will be determined based on operational needs. This position will provide support to our facilities team and will work with other to seasonal employees during the summer season. During pre and post season this position will support projects and program improvements at camp.

Position Duties

The Maintenance Assistant classification is covered by the Pay Floor Rate and hourly pay range is $27.27 - $34.79 for part-time, unbenefited employees. The Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill a Part-Time Unbenefited Maintenance Assistant vacancy in the Parks division at Family Camp in Yosemite.

Maintenance Assistants perform a variety of entry level maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:

• Building, grounds, and park maintenance

• Knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools used in maintenance

• Knowledge of landscape maintenance, pest control application and irrigation systems

• Knowledge of and adherence to safe work practices and precautions

• Awareness of the importance of safety in the workplace including the willingness and skills to communicate risks and hazards

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and make simple measurements

• Ability to perform manual labor

• Ability to lift heavy weights (up to 50 pounds, or heavier weight)

Employees in these positions may be required to work alternate shifts, including weekends, evenings, holidays, overtime, and on-call.
