Position Summary

Under general supervision, operates a variety of transit vehicles to transport passengers along specific, assigned routes according to the District's requirements. Provide service in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. Responsible for written reports and other information as required. Upon completion of the Golden Gate Transit Training Program, the employee operates regularly scheduled assignments. All runs will originate in either Santa Rosa, Novato or San Rafael.

Hourly Pay: $31.29/hour to $36.81/hour

 If selected for the position, new hires will need to complete Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District’s Bus Operator Apprenticeship Program ($31.29/hr benefits not included) which is approximately twelve (12) weeks, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Upon successful completion of training, pay increase granted to $33.13 per hour, plus benefits. All new hires will be required to complete a 120 probationary period upon completion of training.

Essential Responsibilities

• Transports passengers along assigned routes, making designated stops as required or requested 
• Uses the fare box to accurately collect fares, issues transfers and gives general information • Completes reports on patron count, non-scheduled mileage, vehicular deficiencies, fare box, accidents and other reports as required 
• Operates automatic lift on buses and assists passengers in wheelchairs, those using crutches or walkers, or who have speech or mental difficulty 
• Ensures that Driver’s license and all other documents required of a commercial licensee are maintained and are current and valid 
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job 
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service 
• Performs additional related duties as assigned 
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 
• No experience is necessary. 
• Must be a licensed driver for at least seven (7) years prior to the date of this posting.

Basic Examples of Duties

THE TRAINEE POSITION:

Is designed to attend a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy and receive the academic and physical training resulting in graduation and certification required for appointment to the classification of Police Officer.

This classification is structured for the purpose of becoming a sworn police officer.  Police Officer Trainees are hired into this position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy.  Prior to performing a variety of professional law enforcement duties which include police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, and related law enforcement activities. 

Upon successful completion of training at the academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees will be sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer at the beginning of the following pay period.  

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Attend a POST-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy designed to provide an overview of the criminal justice system including knowledge of laws, police procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid and physical fitness.

Receive training to develop an awareness of Police Department functions, as well as the responsibilities of Police Officers and how those responsibilities relate to field operations.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

San Mateo County Health is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Public Health Clinics Strategic Projects Manager. This management position will report to the Public Health Clinics Manager, overseeing Edison Clinics and Mobile Clinics and will have broad project management responsibility for key strategic efforts affecting the Public Health clinics.
 
There is currently one regular vacancy in the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division located in San Mateo, CA.
 
Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:  

• Quality assurance and improvement:  build and visualize data in management reports and dashboards; convert data to information and use it to guide process improvement.
• Process improvement:  facilitate, document, track, organize, measure progress; e.g., conduct improvement work within daily huddles.
• Project management:  lead projects and provide ad hoc support of projects.
• Knowledge management:  inventory and maintain infrastructure of core programmatic documents and processes, how files are stored and shared.
• Partnership building:  support internal staff operational needs; coordinate with other stakeholders, such as staff from Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, Human Services Agency, Health IT, San Mateo Medical Center, grant makers, state agencies, etc.
• Management of administrative staffing:  supervise intermittent interns and volunteers.
• Contract and MOU support:  assist Clinics Manager to write scopes of work, produce required reports and invoices for categorical funding and operational agreements.
• Revenue optimization support:  oversee billing quality assurance and improvement, facilitate braided funding opportunities and oversight.
• Policy and procedures facilitation:  maintain inventory and lead update processes through completion, including occasional initial literature reviews or research and coordination of stakeholders.
• Change management and leadership synchronization:  coordinate staff engagement, training, feedback to ensure successful system changes, take meeting minutes, contribute to agendas, track on-going project work in support of meeting goals.

Ideal candidate will possess:  

• Experience with project management and process improvement as the lead.
• Knowledge and/or experience with:  County of San Mateo; health; people experiencing homelessness; HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
• Data skills including: requirements gathering; ad hoc report building; data and dashboard management.

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, or a related field. At least one year of professional administrative experience is typically required at the Associate Management Analyst level, and at least 3 years for the Management Analyst level.

Licenses and Certifications: 

• Depending upon assignment, possession of a valid California Driver's License.

Special Assignment Pay

Members of our team are eligible for specialized assignments with compensation incentives:

Detective/School Resource Officer - Additional 2.5% of base salary

Motorcycle - Additional 2.5% of base salary 

Field Training Officer - Additional 2% of base salary

Bilingual Pay - up to $150 per month

K-9 Handler - Additional seven hours of additional pay at 1.5 rate and seven of overtime each pay period

Information Technology Super User - Additional 5% of base salary

The City of Menlo Park is currently accepting applications for lateral Police Officers that are motivated, well-trained professionals who can meet the challenge of a fast paced, multi-tasking law enforcement environment.

The Menlo Park Police department is an operation in which the line patrol officers enjoy communicating and building relationships with individuals within the community. We embrace a true community connection and commitment with participants on all sides. Rather than designating certain officers to focus on solving community problems, Menlo Park will charge all police personnel with proactive community policing responsibilities. We ask our officers to seek innovative solutions to local problems, respond to citizen complaints of violations and provide excellent customer service.

Additionally, major thoroughfares coursing through our fully developed community make traffic management a vital duty of all patrol officers. Overall, the department has strong opportunities for specialty assignments, including: K9, investigations, narcotics enforcement, and SWAT / HNT. Patrol teams enjoy a rotating 4/12 plan or a fixed 4/10 schedule in specialty assignments.

The City realizes the diversity of the community and therefore upon approval, the City pays officers a bilingual stipend. Our officers continually strive to be the best and achieve high standards; they receive a 5% incentive for achieving their Intermediate POST certificate and 10% incentive for achieving their advanced certificate. The City has new desktop and laptop computers in place for employees. The City already has Crime Analysis and Traffic Analysis software systems in place. A new handheld citations system for traffic has recently been launched. The City also implemented a citywide GIS system, document imaging system, and Intranet, which are available to all staff members. Additionally, we have placed laptops in all patrol cars in order to facilitate timely report writing and response to calls for service.
