Three camps offered throughout the year 

Summer Camp 2026:

• Mandatory Training: Tuesday, June 9 - Saturday, June 13
• Camp Dates: June 15, 2026 – August 14, 2026. (No camp July 4)
• Up to 5 approved vacation days

Winter Break Camp:

• Late December – Early January

Spring Break Camp:

• Late March – Early April

Position Levels

• Recreation Leader 1: Current high school student 
• Recreation Leader 2: High school graduate or current college student 
• Senior Recreation Leader: College graduate with leadership experience

Education and Training

• Experience in recreational activities, effective communication and interaction skills with youth, and ability to collaborate with staff. Must be at least 16 years old.
• Recreation leader 1 and 2: Students under the age of 18 are required to obtain a work permit from their school. 
• All staff 18+ are required to pass a fingerprint check submitted to the Department of Justice. 
• Sr. Recreation Leader: Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of the classification.

There is no cash value associated with the benefit. No other benefits are offered. This position is at will and is not part of the City's Civil Service System. There is no guarantee of hours and employment may end at any time. 

Salary: $18.06-26.54 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

POLICE ADMINISTRATION COLLEGE SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Gilroy Police Department

20 – 25 hours per week 

$16.90 – $18.84 per hour

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Gilroy Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-minded undergraduate Police Administration Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic law enforcement environment. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside sworn officers and professional staff while supporting public safety initiatives that benefit the Gilroy community.

The intern will assist multiple divisions within the department by providing clerical and administrative support related to crime analysis, youth task force and gang prevention initiatives, public safety communications, and community outreach programs. Responsibilities may also include assisting with special projects, handling confidential information, and supporting efforts that enhance departmental operations.

The intern will also participate in community outreach efforts and local events, helping strengthen connections between the department and the community.

The Police Administration Intern will work under the guidance of a Management Analyst, gaining valuable mentorship and professional experience while supporting the needs of various units within the department. This internship provides meaningful development for students interested in law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration, or public service careers.

The official start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Responds to fire alarms, emergency medical calls at the basic life support level, emergency rescues, hazardous materials incidents, public service calls or other incidents, which require the mitigation of circumstances that may threaten life or property.
• Drives and operates all fire equipment and locates the apparatus at the proper place at the scene.
• In a fire emergency, lays, connects, charges and uses supply lines and various water appliances to control and extinguish fires; places water curtains and performs ventilating and access maneuvers; uses foam and chemical extinguishers as required by the nature of the fire.
• Searches and rescues victims from buildings, motor vehicles, water hazards and other locations.
• Applies medical treatment and life support techniques within the scope of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); provides assistance to qualified paramedics, as directed; assists in the emergency transportation of patients.
• Contains, isolates, and minimizes hazardous materials spills.
• Works closely with other emergency medical staff, police and public safety and fire personnel from other agencies; responds to mutual aid situations as required.
• Participates in investigations, clean-up, salvage, and overhaul operations.
• Participates in the fire inspections of buildings and properties within the City on a regularly scheduled basis.
• Maintains apparatus and vehicles in a clean and operable condition; performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment; reports the need for major repair.
• Maintains the station and living quarters in a clean and orderly condition; performs minor maintenance on facilities and station equipment.
• Participates in drills and training sessions.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with the community; presents a variety of educational and public services programs to children, youth and community groups.
• Performs and coordinates specific program or project areas.
• Prepares reports; prepares and maintains logs, records, and accurate files.

The Department:

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into seven divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library is in the process of finalizing and implementing its new Strategic Plan that will support the direction of future library services.

The Position:

This is the entry-level class within the literacy series responsible for helping raise community awareness of the library’s adult and family literacy services. The Literacy Advocate does community outreach, facilitates information meetings for new learners and volunteers and supports the involvement of adult learners in the Read Santa Clara program, connecting them to helpful library and community resources.  Read Santa Clara is the adult and family literacy program of the Santa Clara City Library. 

The position being filled is a 0.5 FTE position. Benefits for this position will be prorated to a half-time position. The annual salary range for this position is $34,966.38 - $44,692.20, this is a prorated amount. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Protective Services Workers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families. They engage in case planning, risk assessments, and deliver vital support services.

Essential Duties but Not Limited:

• Family Partnership: Collaborate with families, communities, and service providers to form a supportive team addressing the safety, health, and well-being needs of children, youth, and families.
• Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments of safety, risk, and protective capacity using designated tools, taking appropriate actions to ensure child safety.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Building Attendant. This position requires daytime availability for four-to-six-hour shifts between the hours of 8am and 5pm. A person in this classification will work flexibly, up to 20 hours per week. Locations could vary across multiple community centers, and Building Attendants will be required to open the facility as needed.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to: provide excellent customer service to youth, teens, adults, and seniors; oversee the use of the facility insuring that patrons conform to established City and building rental policies and procedures; perform classroom and multi- purpose room set-up and breakdowns for classes, meetings, and building rentals; perform front desk customer service functions; perform minor clean-up as needed including, cleaning bathrooms, floors, windows, counter tops, and emptying garbage; lock and unlock doors; secure building; set up supplies and equipment as dictated by program needs; and perform related duties as assigned.
