About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of facilities maintenance for Midpen’s Administrative Office, including building operations, vehicle fleet inspections, landscaped grounds, parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This unique position has a foundation in older residential property improvements in a rural setting, including spring systems, old style construction including log framing, historic farm building construction, multiple materials and additions to the buildings are all aspects and considerations for repairs and tenant improvements. This position is also responsible for non-routine repairs and improvements at Midpen’s field properties and performs preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will coordinate  and oversee Midpen’s utilization of contractors and act as a point of contact for a wide range  of maintenance and repair tasks. Successful performance in this role requires broad  knowledge of facility maintenance trades and technical principles, as well as a professional background and the ability to effectively collaborate  with other Midpen departments. While most work will focus on the  maintenance and operations of Midpen’s Administrative Office, responsibilities will also extend to project work at field offices and facilities, district owned and managed residential housing, historic properties, ranch infrastructure, and public buildings such as Midpen’s Daniels Nature Center.  For additional information about the position, see the Job Description on the Midpen website.

Work Environment:  This position is part of the  Facilities & Fleet Department and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed at Midpen’s administrative office in Los Altos, field facilities, and also at residential properties located primarily in the field. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, be called back after hours and on weekends or respond to and perform work in emergency situations as required.  When conducting field assignments, work may include traversing rough, difficult terrain in inclement or hot weather with exposure to poison oak, wildlife and rodent inhabitants.  Duties will include building and facility work that will require climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.  Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of conditions, as well as in an office environment. Positions in this classification must possess the ability to lift and carry materials and objects weighing up to 60 pounds and must possess the ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with the use of proper equipment. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in facilities management, construction project management or a related field or training in applicable trades, and
• Three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or related facilities.

Completion of an apprenticeship program or the equivalent training in one or more of the construction trades is highly desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

About the Position: The Supervising Ranger is a dynamic and impactful leadership role with broad responsibility, exercising sound judgement and meaningful independence, while overseeing patrol operations across Midpen preserves. The position leads and mentors a team of sworn district peace officers, coordinates emergency response efforts, builds positive relationships with the public and key stakeholders, represents the District at public meetings, and works collaboratively with departments throughout the organization.

Successful candidates are people-focused leaders who can inspire and guide staff in both day-to-day operations and critical incidents.  The role calls for clear and effective communication, the ability to work with tact and diplomacy, and a commitment to public safety and resource protection.  Responsibilities also include enforcing applicable laws and regulations; administering first aid, providing Emergency Medical Response as a first responder, operating emergency patrol vehicles and two-way radios; and supporting wildland fire suppression efforts  as needed. Assigned Location: Midpen is currently seeking to fill one Supervising Ranger position, reporting to an Area Superintendent. The District reserves the right to reassign employees to other locations as staffing and service requirements evolve.

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy

The Department: 

The City of Santa Clara is looking to fill multiple As-Needed- Temporary Employee positions to support the Annual Cleanup Campaign. Successful incumbents will be assigned to work as ground crews shoving, sweeping, and lifting up to 50lbs of debris left by Santa Clara residents.

The Position: 

In this temporary employment opportunity, you will gain valuable experience working with the public and demonstrate teamwork amongst your peers as you become part of a dedicated crew.

A mandatory paid orientation is tentatively scheduled for April, 2026, where employees will receive training, safety boots, and the necessary equipment to perform the job. This position will work from 6:45am-4:15pm, 40-45 hours a week, Monday-Friday between April 27, 2026 - May 22, 2026. 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Located at the McBean Memorial Pool, our Lifeguards are an essential part of the aquatics recreational programs that we offer our residents.  Be a part of a team that allows everyone to beat the heat and have fun!

We are looking for candidates with qualities such as reliability, creativity, dependability and enthusiasm.  The aquatics program will require you to work various days, weekends or evenings, but we are flexible with schedules.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

DEFINITION:

Under the direct or general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, performs a variety of duties to supervise the pool, decks, and additional areas of an aquatic facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following)

• Maintain constant surveillance as assigned to safeguard swimmers from drowning and other accidents.
• Maintain discipline and orderly conduct among patrons and enforce all pertinent City pool rules and regulations in order to maintain a safe environment.
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required.
• Assist in the planning, promoting and organizing of prescribed Red Cross programs and special events.
• Perform pool facility maintenance functions as required.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Perform heavy manual labor; learn to operate a variety of equipment; work with tools related to recreational maintenance. The position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The incumbent needs to have the ability to hear and speak for purposes of communication. The position also requires both near and far vision when administering programs and operating equipment. The need to lift, carry and push equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold.

About the Position:

The Ranger Recruit is a trainee-level position for individuals who do not possess a Ranger Academy certificate or equivalent, or valid PC 832 certificate.  Upon commencement of employment, new Ranger Recruits will participate in pre-academy instruction on the duties of a District Ranger, receive orientation to District lands and operations and complete additional required training.  Upon completion of pre-academy instruction, new Ranger Recruits will participate in a district approved Park Ranger Law Enforcement Academy based out of the South Bay Regional Training Center in San Jose, CA located on Bailey Avenue with the nearest cross street on Santa Teresa Avenue.  The 14-week long academy begins in January 2027 and will include the California Penal Code 832 training.  Upon successful completion of the academy and the District’s required robust 12-week Field Training program and final review by the Chief Ranger, a Ranger Recruit may be appointed as a probationary Ranger.   

The Ranger is a challenging and adventurous journey level position offering a wide variety of responsibilities and opportunities to exercise independent judgement while working on Midpen preserves.   

What does a District Ranger do?  District Rangers are Generalist Rangers who perform a wide variety of functions. A brief list of day-to-day activities follows:

• Midpen Rangers are sworn peace officers responsible for patrolling District Preserves and enforcing the District's regulations and pertinent local, State, and Federal laws on District Preserves. Patrol may be by 4x4 truck, foot, UTV, motorcycle, or mountain bike.  
• Respond to medical emergencies, wildland fires and search and rescue incidents.
• Help maintain the preserves by performing light maintenance tasks and resource management assignments.
• Engage the public through interpretive activities and community outreach.
• Shift schedules include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

The City of Lincoln is hiring up to 6 part-time Assistant Pool Managers within the Recreation Department.  This position may require you to work various days, weekends or evenings.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

Under direction, assists in the overall operations of a swimming pool facility, and its assigned temporary employees; assists in the planning, organizing, coordination, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of aquatic activities and programs for all ages.

The Assistant Pool Manager is the working lead class responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the pool and aquatics program. This class is distinguished from the next higher classification of Pool Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for the pool operations, programs, and staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Pool Manager. Exercises indirect supervision over temporary and seasonal aquatics personnel; may exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Coordinate the department’s projects from planning stage through project acceptance by conducting preliminary engineering studies.  Prepare plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for public improvements such as streets, storm drains, sewers, water works, traffic signals/controls, and other public projects.  Make calculations for engineering/surveying and other related work.  Obtain and provide field data and recommendations for preparation of modifications involving technical or monetary changes.  Assist project engineers in performing survey work and obtaining field data for preparation and planning of proposed project.  Provide design, construction or consultation contract administration and management or inspection of capital improvement, repair and maintenance projects.  Establish schedules and methods of providing construction inspection services.  Resolve conflicts between inspectors, contractors and facility owners.  Prepare, review and maintain various data, reports, documents and project files, such as, but not limited to, inspection logs, daily construction logs, change order requests, quantities and material estimates, progress reports, site plans, subdivision improvement plans, development agreements, real property documents, submittals and as-built drawings.  Review improvement plans, maps, specifications, cost estimates, and other work for accuracy, presentation and conformance with established engineering practices, City Standards, General Plans and Specific Plans.  Provide general information to other City departments, the public, development community and other government agencies.  Prepare for review by senior staff policies and procedures for processing requests of the City for City services to facilitate development projects.  Determine and oversee field material testing of samples of materials routinely used in construction projects.  (For example, concrete, asphalts, soils, etc.)  Monitor operational tests on civil, mechanical and electrical systems.  Perform pneumatic and hydrostatic test of piping systems as appropriate.  Coordinate right-of-way planning and acquisition for public improvement projects such as streets, storm drains, sewers, water works, traffic and other public work projects.  Prepare and assist with presentations to City Council, various Commissions and local interest groups.  Share in the responsibility for a sound safety program; promptly report unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor.  Prepare data for as-built utilizing GPS equipment, recording changes, dimensions, etc.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the Employee must be present to completed assigned tasks.  Work cooperatively with others including other City departments/divisions and the public.  Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Training

Experience:

Two (2) years of experience performing duties comparable to those of a City of Woodland Engineering Technician II or seven (7) years of increasingly complex paraprofessional engineering experience within the Department or approved comparable experience.

Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented with at least six (6) months of college level coursework in drafting, algebra, geometry, chemistry, trigonometry, or related field. 

Additional coursework in civil engineering, construction technology, land development, project management or a closely related field from an accredited college is highly desirable.

License or Certificate

Specialty certification such as Construction Management, Project Management, Transportation Management, Land Use and Environmental Planning, or the equivalent is desired.

THE POSITION
To collect and examine water, wastewater, stormwater and related materials.  Performs a variety of standardized and complex tests and analysis of such samples. Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment, prepares glassware, mixes reagents and media. Prepares reports, performs special studies, analyzes results and works with a variety of outside labs.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Water Pollution Control Facility, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.  Initial position and salary of the selected candidate will be based on previous work experience and valid certificates.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate will have previous experience working in a laboratory or related position.  Candidate will be familiar with the principles and practices necessary in the operation of a Water Pollution Control Facility and have completed previous coursework in chemistry, microbiology, mathematics and other relevant fields.  The Ideal Candidate will be organized, flexible, hardworking, and have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent time management skills, have the ability to maintain accurate records, be a cooperative team player, and bring a positive, professional attitude to workplace.

Laboratory Technician I:
This is the entry-level classification in the flexibly staffed Laboratory (Lab) Technician series.  Positions at this level are distinguished from the Lab Technician II level by providing a narrower range of duties, usually of a less complex nature in the treatment plant laboratory.  Incumbents learn and perform a variety of clearly defined duties involved with cleaning and maintaining laboratory material and equipment and performing routine testing and analysis in the laboratory. Laboratory Technician II provides lead supervision and training as needed to the Laboratory Technician I.

Laboratory Technician II:
This is the journey level classification of Lab Technician series.  Positions at this level are distinguished from the entry level by performing complex testing and analysis in the treatment plant laboratory.  Incumbents are thoroughly familiar of defined duties involved with calibrating and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment.  Provides lead direction to Lab Technician I in addition to performing NPDES required analyses in the laboratory and the more complex laboratory analysis. The Laboratory and Environmental Compliance Manager provides direct supervision. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Laboratory Technician I - Collects and prepares water, wastewater, receiving waters and related samples for analysis.  Conducts standard physical, chemical and biological analysis of such samples.  Makes mathematical calculations and statistical analysis for test results.  Prepares and maintains a variety of logs, records and reports related to the work performed.  Performs complex sampling techniques.  Prepares lab supply and equipment order lists.  Regular and consistent attendance.

Laboratory Technician II – All of the essential functions listed above and:  Prepares standardized reagents and media used in laboratory analysis.  Samples, schedules and ships samples to outside laboratories.  Performs analysis on quality assurance samples for compliance with State Health Department to maintain laboratory certification.  Participates in the laboratory quality assurance program by reviewing and verifying records and reports for the NPDES permit requirements.  Schedules laboratory and maintenance work, ordering of materials, and maintains records as directed by the Laboratory and Environmental Compliance Manager.  Ensure proper maintenance and repair work on all laboratory equipment.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Cleans and prepares laboratory equipment and glassware.  Maintains laboratory in a clean and orderly condition.  Observes safe work methods, practices and precautions; uses appropriate safety devices and equipment in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Laboratory Technician I:
Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by related college level coursework. 

Experience:  One (1) year experience in a laboratory or related position is desirable.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a current California Driver’s License.  Possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade I Laboratory Analyst Certificate within eighteen (18) months of appointment.  Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate is desirable.

Laboratory Technician II:
Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent is required.  Completion of one (1) year of related college level coursework is preferred.

Experience:  Two (2) years of general laboratory experience is preferred. 

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of all certifications required for the Laboratory Technician I and possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade II Laboratory Analyst certificate within eighteen (18) months.  Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate is desirable.

$4,922.05 - $6,281.93 /month
$2,271.72- $2,899.35 /biweekly

Laboratory Technician II
$5,433.03 - $6,934.07 /month
$2,507.55 - $3,200.34 /biweekly

CalPERS Retirement System (2 % @ 60 formula for Classic CalPERS members and 2% @ 62 formula for new CalPERS members).  The City does not participate in social security
