ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Public Works Department invites you to apply for the position of Building Maintenance Worker position.  The Building Maintenance Worker positions in this class are assigned a variety of tasks in the building trades. Although work requires the use of journey level tools and the ability to perform tasks in several of the crafts, the skill required in any one field is normally less than would be required of a journey level worker in that field. Technical supervision may be regularly exercised over one or more helpers.

Typical duties may include:

• Assist in a variety of carpentry and building maintenance tasks for municipal facilities. Keep accurate and timely records of building maintenance activities utilizing a computer work order system.
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures such as drinking fountains, faucets, sinks, toilets, water heaters, and aquatic facilities.
• Unstop drains and toilets.
• Use computerized/electronic equipment as required.
• Solicit bids and order parts and materials (purchasing) as needed
• Repair, install, and construct walls, cabinets, countertops, and other wood equipment and fixtures.
• Perform hand and bench work, operating table saw, miter saw, drill presses, skill saws, and other woodworking machinery.
• Maintain and repair structures such as barricades, fences, scaffolds and playground equipment and perform maintenance and repair on park and other City structures.
• Make repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs, and ceilings.
• Construct new walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Prepare surfaces for painting, wallpapering, or staining and remove graffiti.
• Apply paint to building interiors and exteriors, fixtures and equipment. Prepare and paint or stain cabinets, doors, woodwork and other surfaces.
• Assist in general facility maintenance duties as required
• Repair, replace, and maintain electrical wiring, fuses, switches, motors, generators, lighting systems, and other fixtures and equipment
• Train and assist less experienced personnel.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and repairs to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
• Perform work with a record of regular attendance and punctuality.

San Mateo County Health is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Community Program Analyst II - Aging & Disability Services.

The Community Program Analyst II position within the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Unit, a community-based service for older adults and people living with disabilities, within the Aging and Disability Services (ADS) Division. The position performs a variety of technical tasks related to monitoring, policy interpretation, policy development, and development of training materials for the IHSS program. Much of the work includes compiling and analyzing data, collaborating with staff and clients/families to ensure a service delivery system that is responsive to the needs of older adults and people with disabilities. Individuals should have knowledge of issues regarding aging, disabilities, functional/cognitive/mental limitations and experience in QA within a large, regulation driven service delivery system.

The Community Program Analyst will conduct QA case documentation reviews, home visits, and consultation as detailed by the California Department of Social Services (State). The analyst will provide technical guidance and education on program regulations and county operations and produce monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for Aging and Disability Services management/executives and State QA/Program Integrity. In addition, the analyst will serve as liaison among social workers, Public Authority and IHSS clients/providers to resolve disputes. The role also includes leading investigations and collaboration with the California Department of Health Care Services on suspected program misuse and oversight of all required QA monitoring work of the unit.

Community Program Analysts provide technical assistance and evaluate program functions to support effective community and client service delivery. They serve as County liaisons with contract service providers, and community-based organizations, ensure compliance with program regulations and procedures and monitor contracts related to assigned programs. Analysts may also perform other work-related duties as required.

The current vacancy is in the ADS Division located in San Mateo, CA, but may move to the South San Francisco office if needed. The position will travel throughout the County to perform the duties of this position. Travel to meetings and training courses located in Sacramento and other counties is also required.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Fluency in Spanish, Russian, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Cantonese (preferred but not required).
• A self-directed, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Two to three years of leadership experience in a highly regulated program.
• Prior experience with IHSS.
• The ability to prepare professional, detailed written and statistical reports, including experience with data entry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Power Apps), Adobe, and the ability to quickly learn multiple database systems such as the Case Management, Information, and Payrolling System (CMIPS II).

• Strong knowledge of systems of care for older adults and people with disabilities from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including experience conducting home visits.
• Familiarity with QA desk reviews and home visits, including identifying assessment discrepancies and concerns, and developing solutions to improve compliance with regulations.
• The ability to analyze, interpret, and implement new and existing federal, state, and county regulations and laws related to IHSS and the continuum of care for older adults and people with disabilities

This is a limited term, at-will position. Limited Term Employees are assigned to assignments not to exceed three years. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Redwood City Fire Department is seeking individuals for the position of Cadet Firefighter. The Cadet Firefighter Program is designed to allow students an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of fire department operations. About the role:                   

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Arts & Events is responsible for overseeing the City’s signature community events, cultural programming, and public art initiatives that celebrate Redwood City’s diverse community and vibrant downtown. This position manages the planning, coordination, and production of a wide range of public events including festivals, concerts, cultural celebrations, and arts programming that bring people together and foster community pride.

In addition to event management, this role provides critical support to the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services on all public art initiatives. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (The following are a representative sample of the KSA's necessary to perform essential duties of the position.)

Knowledge of: Standard office and administrative policies and procedures; specified computer applications involving word processing, data entry, data base access and/or standard report generation; business arithmetic; business letter writing and the standard format for typed materials; depending on assignment, knowledge of accounting, clerical, construction, legal and computer operation terminology may be required; administrative procedures affecting inventory, purchasing, accounting; applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations; basic principles of mathematics; methods and techniques of scheduling work assignments; methods and techniques for record keeping and report preparation and writing; proper English, spelling and grammar; occupational hazards and standard safety practices.

Skill to: Operate an office computer and a variety of word processing and software applications; operate a variety of automated office machinery and equipment including printer, typewriter, calculator, facsimile machine, copier, multi-line telephone systems, etc.; type accurately from clear copy at a rate of 45 words per minute for Office Assistant II.

Ability to: Provide general clerical support to a specialized work unit; use applicable office terminology, forms, documents and procedures in the course of the work; maintain accurate office files; compose correspondence or documents; meet critical deadlines; deal successfully with the public, in person and over the telephone; courteously respond to community issues, concerns and needs; interpret, explain and apply applicable laws, codes and regulations; perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately; make suggestions to adjust standard operating procedures as is appropriate; read, interpret and record data accurately; organize, prioritize and follow-up on work assignments; work independently and as part of a team; make sound decisions within established guidelines; follow written and oral directions; observe safety principles and work in a safe manner; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
