The Public Works Department is responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving the City’s public infrastructure – streets, water, storm, public buildings, the City’s fleet, trees, parks, and traffic signals. The Department also reviews plans and inspects construction of public improvements to serve private residential and commercial development and plans the capital and operating budgets.

The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Associate Fiscal Analyst for the Budget Services office.   

The Associate Fiscal Analyst plays a key role in developing and implementing the annual budget for California’s 58 trial courts. Responsibilities include: (1) gathering, verifying, and compiling court data to support budget creation, (2) processing payments for trial court reimbursement programs, and (3) preparing monthly distribution templates in the FI$Cal system to allocate operational funding. Additionally, the position supports the Trial Court Budget Advisory Committee—an advisory group to the Judicial Council—by preparing meeting materials such as agendas, minutes, and meeting notes, and coordinating meetings with committee chairs. The position also handles inquiries and special assignments from the trial courts.

ABOUT THE AIR DISTRICT

The Bay Area Air District (Air District) created in 1955, is the state’s first regional agency to regulate air pollution. The Air District was created during this time, as the air in the Bay Area was often unhealthy to breathe due to burning, vehicle exhaust, and factories polluting the air.

The Air District is tasked with regulating stationary sources of air pollution in the nine counties that surround the San Francisco Bay: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, southwestern Solano, and southern Sonoma counties. It is governed by a 24-member Board of Directors composed of locally elected officials from each of the nine Bay Area counties, with the number of board members from each county being proportionate to its population.

The Board of Directors oversees policies, adopts regulations, and promotes and incentivizes clean air actions to reduce air pollution in communities within the Air District jurisdiction. The Board also appoints the Air District’s Executive Officer/Air Pollution Control Officer (EO/APCO), who implements these policies, gives direction to staff, and provides air quality thought leadership on a state, national and global scale. The Air District consists of 538 dedicated staff members, including engineers, inspectors, planners, scientists, and other professionals.

The Air District has a mission to improve air quality to protect public health, reduce historical and current environmental inequities, and mitigate climate change and its impact. However, new approaches are needed to reduce the disproportionate and cumulative environmental impacts that remain in overburdened communities.  The Air District oversees one of the most robust air monitoring networks in the nation with more than 30 air monitoring stations that measure air quality throughout the Bay Area and inform daily air quality forecasts. The Air District also ensures that businesses comply with some of the nation’s most stringent air pollution laws and regulations, provides incentives and grants to encourage clean air alternatives and actions, and prioritizes our work in communities on the frontlines of pollution exposure. On days where ozone or fine particulate pollution levels are high, the Air District issues “Spare the Air” alerts to warn the public of the potential health hazards. While the Air District has improved air quality over the past seven decades, there are still challenges today due to the growing population, traffic, catastrophic wildfires driven by climate change, and the legacy of concentrated burdens in underserved communities.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Executive Officer of Information Management. There is one (1) vacant full-time position. This at-will position is appointed by the Executive Officer/Air Pollution Control Officer and serves a term of three (3) years which may be extended.  

Under direction of the Executive Officer/Air Pollution Control Officer, the Deputy Executive Officer of Information Management provides high-level technical, policy, and strategic direction in the management of the Air District's programs and activities.  The position oversees the modernization of the Air District’s technology infrastructure, improvement of core business processes, and coordination of strategic cross-functional projects. Enterprise Technology Solutions
Enterprise Technology Solutions identifies, develops, and implements both custom and off-the-shelf technologies that enhance the Air District’s core operations. Key examples include systems, which enable permitting, inspection, and enforcement processes for regulated facilities, grants management tools, the Air District’s financial system, and the technology powering the public-facing website. Enterprise Technology Solutions works closely with other service areas to streamline business processes, promote innovation, and ensure that technology solutions effectively meet staff and community needs.

Information Services
Information Services is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Air District’s information technology infrastructure. This includes managing servers and networks, telecommunications, cybersecurity, business continuity, and disaster recovery systems. Information Services also provides user support to Air District staff and technical assistance to external stakeholders, ensuring seamless and secure access to online services. By focusing on resilience and continuous improvement, Information Services safeguards the Air District’s data and systems against evolving threats and disruptions and fosters effective implementation of initiatives to improve air quality, protect public health, and address environmental challenges in the Bay Area.

Strategic Innovation
The position will oversee additional projects that aim to modernize Air District operations and bring innovative solutions to advance the Air District’s mission. As an example, the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan guides the Air District’s work to address air quality issues more effectively, with a focus on communities most overburdened by air pollution. It also guides how to transform our organization to align more closely with our core values of environmental justice, equity, integrity, partnership, transparency, and trust. The Air District is beginning to implement the goals and priorities across the Air District and will be reporting the results. This position will facilitate Strategic Plan implementation through a systems approach to tracking, reporting, and transparency measures. The City of Newark is seeking a Public Safety Clerk to join our Police Department.

Under the direction of the Police Records Supervisor, Public Safety Clerks perform a variety of administrative and data-driven tasks to support the processing and maintenance of Police Department reports, records, and files. Responsibilities include:

• Entering high volumes of data from police reports.

• Preparing statements, letters, petitions, and civil or criminal complaints using word processing software.

A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. A Dispatcher II may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports. Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; 2 years general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net). Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. The City of Pleasant Hill offers a competitive compensation and benefits program.

• Salary: $6,987 to $9,050 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.

DEFINITION

Perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the facilities program area within the Recreation, Arts, and Community Services Department.  The incumbent should be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and adept with various computer software.  Perform routine correspondence, field public inquiries, maintain departmental files consistent with the Town’s records retention policy, schedule appointments and tours, and assist with data entry.

The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Court Executive Officer.

 

As a key member of the executive management team, the Deputy Court Executive Officer will provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Court Executive Officer/Clerk/Jury Commissioner.  The Deputy Court Executive (DCEO) will participate in strategic planning and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the operations, support, and administration divisions of the Court.  This will include directing all criminal, family law, civil, juvenile, small claims, traffic, and probate clerk office functions.

 

The DCEO will also oversee all staffing and personnel functions including recruitment, retention, training and development, and disciplinary action.  The DCEO will research and review new technology systems that could assist the Court in meeting workload requirements and will oversee the implementation of new systems and, when necessary, the modification of existing systems.  In addition, the DCEO will write, review, monitor, and manage contracts with vendors providing services and materials.

 

Significant to the role, the DCEO will analyze new legislation and the legislation’s impact on the Court, will communicate with the executive team about new legislative or statutory requirements needed to successfully operate the court, and will establish procedures to conform to new laws.

 

In addition to internal operations, the DCEO will serve as liaison with the court, County departments, agencies, and the public, and will work with other criminal justice agencies to implement new or mandated programs.

• Provide highly responsible administrative and management assistance to the Court Executive Officer/Clerk and Jury Commissioner in planning, organizing, directing, and reviewing the functions and activities of the operations and/or support divisions of the Court.
• Provide strong leadership as part of the Court’s Executive Team, which also consists of the CEO, Information Technology Director, Human Resources Director, Senior Managing Attorney, and Finance Director.
• Direct, supervise, and guide Court managers and supervisors or staff of a major division by establishing goals, policies, and performance standards, conducting periodic evaluations for the staff members' performance, and counseling staff members regarding their performance and career development consistent with the departmental mission and expectations.
• Work with judges, attorneys, internal staff, and external departments to define and coordinate a variety of activities such as forecasting trial court needs, arranging for jurors, and assigning visiting judges.
• Consult with and advise other County staff and the public regarding Court policy issues and participate in the development of standards and programs relating to these policies.
• Consult and cooperate with other agencies and departments on all aspects of the Court’s operations, discuss problems and develop alternatives and strategies for dealing with those problems, and assist in implementation of solutions.
• Develop effective statistical and recordkeeping systems, analyze new laws and requirements that may impact these systems, and revise systems as needed.
• Direct and counsel managers, supervisors or staff in planning, resource allocation, personnel actions, budgeting, and record systems needed to meet the Court’s responsibilities.
• Assist in the preparation and administration of the Court budget.
• Perform a variety of special assignments and prepare complex analytical and statistical reports in all areas of Court management, as assigned.
• Perform any additional court administration or operations-related duties and tasks as assigned by the Court Executive Officer.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in judicial, public, or business administration or a closely related field, or a graduate degree in these same fields; however, additional qualifying experience as described below and relevant course work outside of degree programs may substitute for the required education on a year-to-year basis.
• Experience: Seven years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of duties related to management in, preferably but not limited to, a court setting including at least one full year of progressively responsible experience in a senior level administrative, executive, or management position.

 

Knowledge of:

• All aspects of Court Administration including appropriate methods, procedures, and technical expertise.
• Pertinent state and federal laws and regulations regarding Court management.
• Organizational, administrative, and management principles and practices.

GENERAL INFO  
  

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I/II performs routine public contact and safety work in serving as a pool lifeguard. They also provide essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties relating to aquatics. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the health and safety of aquatic patrons, facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.   

 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Applicable to all roles; Illustrative Purposes Only)  

Monitor the swimming pool and enforce safety regulations.  

Assist with aquatics programs, special events, and facility upkeep.

• Process code enforcement cases.

Receive, track/monitor and investigate public staff municipal codes and ordinances, standards, health and safety and other complaints.
• Conduct review of discretionary planning applications for design review, exceptions, tree removal, and other related requests.
• Serve as the City’s staff liaison to various groups (i.e., Orinda Historical Society)
  Basic mathematical principles.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current certification in personal training or group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).
• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or related field preferred.
• Experience in strength and conditioning, group instruction, and one-on-one training is highly desirable.
