The City of Pacifica's Public Works Department is recruiting for a Building Maintenance Specialist. This is a full-time position with benefits and a compensation schedule range of $6,339 - $7,529 per month. This position works a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. This position is included in a bargaining unit under Teamsters MISC Local No. 856.

Definition

Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in connection with the construction, maintenance, and repair of City buildings and other facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. This position is distinguished from other maintenance classes in its specialization in building construction and maintenance, utilizing skills in one or more of the building trades.

Typical and Important Duties

• Constructs, remodels, and repairs a variety of buildings and structures, such as walls, partitions, doorways, counters, stairways, plumbing, roofs, and floor coverings.
• Builds and/or installs cabinets, shelving, bookcases, molding and other items involving finish carpentry.
• Performs other crafts-related work in connection with the construction, alteration, and repair of buildings and related facilities.
• Inspects work sites to take dimensions, prepare estimates of time and materials to lay-out work. 
• Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and catalogues
• Maintains work orders, services records, time logs
• Prepares drawings and specifications for assigned projects.
• Estimates materials and supplies required to perform assigned work; may order supplies and materials as required.
• May direct the work of other workers on a project or relief basis.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Job Function

Ability to drive, possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, as well as drive a variety of vehicles safely.

Employment Standards

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of an accredited four-year apprenticeship program in construction field.

Licenses and Certificates

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. May be required to qualify for and obtain a Class “A” or “B” driver’s license, and, therefore, become subject to the Department of Transportation’s random drug and alcohol testing program.

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.

The Position

The Multipurpose Senior Service Program (MSSP) Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work tasks and duties for older adults living with complex medical conditions to assist them to obtain optimum health, financial, and/or social services. As a member of the Human Services Department, this position reports to a Clinical Supervisor in the Aging and Family Services Division.

This is a regular, part-time position (32 hours/week) and will receive pro-rated benefits.

• Manage a caseload of 28-32 clients comprised of older individuals with complex medical conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive client assessments and develop and monitor service plan.
• Collaborate with team members, Human Services programs, and community agencies.

This announcement is for one (1) position as described below: 

Department of Public Works

The City of Half Moon Bay Department of Public Works seeks a qualified individual to perform a variety of professional level duties and responsibilities in support of the Engineering Division and functions including research and analysis for design, land development and capital improvements; to provide information and assistance to applicants, developers, consultants, the general public, and outside agencies and organizations regarding City codes, policies, standards and processes related to engineering, building and capital projects; and to participate in planning and implementation of projects.  The core services of the Public Works Department are to promote safety, livability, and sustainability through effective management of streets, parks, facilities, and utilities.  The department is also dedicated to excellence, integrity, and environmental stewardship.  For more information about the Department of Public Works please visit the department website.  

The Engineering Division is responsible for review of private development, issuance of applicable permits, assisting with environmental reviews, coordination with other divisions/departments, consultant engineers, and other utility providers in the design and construction of new public and privately funded projects and infrastructure.  The division identifies capital improvement needs in consultation with other divisions and departments, coordinates with non-City utility providers on design and implementation of the CIP, and oversees design, permitting, bidding, and construction of those projects.  The division is also responsible for managing the Traffic Safety Committee, related traffic safety regulations.  

WHAT YOU 'LL DO

This position is responsible for performing entry level professional civil engineering work related to the design, construction, inspection, and coordination of a variety of public works projects as well as review and permitting of private development projects.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Assistant Engineer: $7,950 - $9.663 monthly DOQ

Holidays: 14 paid holidays per year.

Vacation: 12 days (96 hours) annually.

Administrative Leave: 12 days (96 hours) annually.

Sick Leave: 12 days (96 hours) annually.

Retirement: PERS Classic employee receives 2% at 55; single highest year and PEPRA employee receives 2% at 62, with highest 3 years. Classic employees pay 7% employee contribution and PEPRA employees pay half the normal costs (currently 6.5%). The City of Half Moon Bay does not participate in Social Security, except the required Medicare.

Health Insurance: Employee can choose from medical plans provided through CalPERS. The City provides an allowance of $1,900 per month, which can be used for medical premiums.  Any unused portion may be taken as additional compensation. Dental and Vision is fully paid by the City up to family coverage.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Education

Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in civil engineering or a related field; and

Experience

Assistant Engineer - No experience is required, although some practical technical experience or an internship is desirable.  

Licenses and Certificates

Assistant Engineer - Possession of a valid California Class "C" Driver's License is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.  Possession of an Engineer Training Certificate is preferred.  Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California is strongly encouraged within one year of hire.

Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Advanced Practice Provider in the Health, Housing & Community Services Department! In this role, you will make assessments, provide treatment based on a patient's physical and psychosocial condition, provide patient counseling and guidance in the maintenance of health and the prevention of illness; and perform other related work as required.

In the Public Health Division, the Advanced Practice Provider provides health care at the Berkeley High School Health Center (BHSHC) and the City of Berkeley's Public Health Clinic. This position has overall responsibility for the delivery of clinical care and supports other clinical staff.

This is an hourly, part-time position working up to 19 hours per week. It is not a benefited position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is:

• Equivalent to graduation from a Physician Assistant program from an accredited institution approved by the Physician Assistant Board of California (PAB) and one year of clinical experience in a health-related occupation; OR

San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is seeking an experienced Patient Services Specialist (PSS) - Extra-Help.
 
The successful hire will support the clinical team with all registration, eligibility, enrollment, authorization, other administrative tasks, and Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) activities for SMMC. The PSS serves as the ambassador for SMMC to validate information and educate our patients and guests with the financial process upon arrival to the facility. The PSS verifies all demographic information, validates eligibility, obtain authorizations, collects co-payments, assist with all payor notifications and communication, and enroll patients if needed. The hire will be expected to work holidays and rotating weekends, if needed, to support department needs.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical terminology and medical insurance requirements to individuals with varying levels of medical knowledge. Additionally, they should have strong skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will also be able to collaborate effectively with the clinical team, work with challenging patients, and assist those who may have language or communication barriers. This position requires keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be flexible and available for various shifts throughout the week.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

About the Commission: The San Francisco Ethics Commission was created by the City’s voters with the passage of Proposition K in November 1993. ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

The Deputy Director must be willing to forego involvement in all local political activity while a member of the Commission staff and publicly file an annual Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Establish and implement departmental goals, policies, and strategic plans as directed by the Executive Director.
• Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the Commission’s laws, policies, programs, procedures, and operations.
• Oversee daily administrative operations of the department including financial management, procurement, accounting, payroll, and related office operations.

• Prepare management reports, annual reports, agency publications, and financial reports to provide regular progress updates regarding departmental goals and operations. Provide presentations at Commission meetings as needed.
• Maintain information on the Commission’s website, including budget, operational reports, and Commission information, in compliance with the City’s language access and digital inclusion standards.

• Support Commission-related operations including assisting with public meetings and onboarding new Commissioners.
• Act on behalf of the Executive Director when requested to provide business continuity for other programmatic and business functions.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality of sensitive information obtained through the course of completing assignments while working comfortably in an open government environment.
• Maintain and retrieve documents, records, and correspondence in accordance with established procedures for data retention and records requests.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, AND
• Two (2) years of managerial experience in governmental ethics, campaign financing, and/or lobbying laws and regulations, all of which must include supervisory experience.

Substitution: Additional experience as described above may substitute for the required degree on a year for year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Desired Qualifications

• A Master's degree in public administration, business administration, public policy, or a closely related field of study, or a juris doctor degree.

• Two or more years of demonstrated experience with public sector management, budgeting, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, and/or recruitment functions.
• Experience in the fields of campaign finance and governmental ethics.
• Experience working objectively, efficiently, and effectively under strict deadlines and highly visible, sensitive, or politicized settings.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in organizational policies, systems, and issues in a government setting.
• Proficiency with computers and software applications, including with Microsoft Office tools, electronic filings systems, collaboration and project management tools (SharePoint, MS Teams, Jira or similar), financial & accounting systems, digital signature tools (DocuSign or similar), and content management systems (WordPress or similar).
• Familiarity with data analysis skills including advanced Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, or other statistical/analytics tools. Comfortable working with complex datasets and databases.
• Strong leadership and management skills and experience working effectively with diverse stakeholders in fast-paced, sensitive, and politicized settings.
• Ability to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation and organizational skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility in handling changing circumstances in dynamic work environments.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, exercise initiative, and complete multiple competing projects within established timeframes while also ensuring accurate, high-quality work products.

The Position

The Planning Manager oversees the operations of CDD’s Planning Division, which includes supervision of a team of 10 planners and management of all current and long-range planning functions of the City. The ideal candidate is a team player; is experienced and effective in all aspects of professional planning practices; has proven leadership, negotiation, and communication skills; works well with a variety of interest groups, individuals, and stakeholders. The Planning Manager serves as staff liaison to the Planning Commission and supervises preparation of the Commission’s agenda and compilation of required reports and documents, and acts as Zoning Administrator and performs all duties required thereof by the Zoning Code. The position exercises direct supervision over professional staff in the Planning Division, receives general direction from the Community Development Director and/or Deputy Community Development Director, and works collaboratively with other division managers within CDD.
