Under general supervision, provides a full range of moderately complex technical support to department information systems in two or more of the following general areas: desktop support, production or server support, and/or applications support.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Maintain inventory of addresses, laptops, workstations, servers, and peripheral equipment; prepare decommissioned workstations for surplus pickup and/or storage; order equipment and supplies as required.
• Write user operating instructions for departmental applications and equipment; present training, documentation, and other materials to user groups and individuals.
• Participate in departmental systems planning activities.

User Support

• Serve as technical resource and primary point of contact for departmental system users; provide desktop and end-user support by remote session, telephone, email or in person, including visits to remote sites.
• Troubleshoot and assist users in solving operational hardware and software application problems; evaluate problem severity and resolve or escalate to appropriate personnel or vendor for resolution.
• Execute tests of new hardware and software, and support beta testing of new fields and screens in the system.
• Set up employee workstations; perform ergonomic evaluations and make equipment adjustments as needed.
• Support the department’s use of audiovisual equipment, including laptops, televisions, and projectors; set up and provide technical support for presentations.
• Assist with the production and editing of multi-media, including recordings, presentations, and videos; set up webcast and video conference meetings; duties include media conversion, editing backup, and storage of analog and digital data.

Desktop Support

• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade department computers and peripheral equipment.
• Install shrink-wrapped software on user workstations and provide instructions and training in their use.
• Install and replace internal computer components such as memory, hard drives, sound devices, optical drives, CD-ROM drives, and communications cards.
• Maintains and establishes user profiles for PC deployment.

Production/Server Support

• Assist with the routine installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of servers, mid-range computers, and related equipment at local and remote sites.
• Perform routine system administration functions according to desktop security policies, which include monitoring and adding applications, users, and devices, modifying user profiles, resetting passwords, and performing file maintenance.
• Monitor departmental equipment and systems; review daily problem reports and determine system technical problems.

Application Support

• Perform routine data entry and database maintenance, which includes entering or uploading data to databases, maintaining tables, and developing queries.
• Produce and distribute standard, recurring reports for others to use.
• Execute transfer of large, confidential files between systems.
• Assist with routine web development functions, entering or uploading internet content, updating routine or standard content, applying graphic features, and/or revising vignettes/HTML pages.

The City of San Bruno Public Library is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor. Candidates must be able to commit from September 2025 to June 2026, for 17 hours per week and availability Monday 2-6PM, Tuesday 2-6PM, Wednesday 1-6PM and Thursday 2-6PM (with the exception of Library and San Bruno Park School District holidays). Although this is a ten-month position, the program is ongoing. Continued employment in subsequent school years may be considered based on performance and program needs.

Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining
accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for
maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning STEAM weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 

• Some college coursework
   
• Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
   
• Ability to assist students with homework and computer skills
   
• Ability to relate to the public in a tactful and effective manner

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a self-starting, independent individual with sound judgement, capable of working in a busy team-oriented public-service environment; possesses excellent customer service skills; has experience working with students in a group setting, experience working with volunteers, and experience leading STEAM/Makerspace activities. * This is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position with the City of San Bruno.  As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time.  This position works a maximum of 17 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.  Employees may use up to 40 hours (or 5 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

Foster City is seeking a well-qualified individual with strong leadership skills to fill the position of Financial Services Manager. They are responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day operations of accounts receivable, business license, cash receipts, and utilities. The Financial Services Manager compiles annual City budget and all non-departmental budgets, manages the effective use of division resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service, provides complex and responsible support to the Finance Director in areas of expertise, and performs related work as required.

The position will be an overfill position due to the current incumbent's retirement, pending City Council approval. This position will be filled for training purposes to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of operations allowing the new hire to gain hands-on experience and knowledge before the incumbent's departure. The anticipated start date will be October 2025. 

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or a related.

Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible government finance experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training, and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.

Description

The incumbent provides high-level public information, community outreach, and multi-media services that require in-depth knowledge of public sector communications, multi-media, script writing and editing, website and graphic design and experience in managing and implementing creative and innovative promotions and projects.

Under general direction, the Communications Program Manager coordinates the citywide public communications activities and maintains content on the City's website and intranet; implements and supports internal and external communications efforts; and coordinates social media and video communications activities.  Incumbents may function as a supervisor of as-needed employees, or an individual contributor, depending on the department or assignment.
