Maintenance Worker III is an advanced journey-level position responsible for operating a variety of light construction equipment in support of Valley Water’s maintenance and construction projects. This role provides agency-wide support for work on creeks, ponds, reservoirs, and other flood control facilities throughout the county.

Assigned to the Vegetation Field Operations Unit, this position performs a broad range of duties supporting Valley Water’s vegetation management programs. Responsibilities include vegetation control, integrated vegetation management, arboriculture, native plant revegetation, invasive plant management, and biotechnical erosion control on Valley Water properties.

This is primarily an outdoor position requiring work in varying and sometimes challenging environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Incumbents may also be required to respond to after-hours flood control emergencies, including nighttime callouts.

As a light equipment operator, the Maintenance Worker III must possess a valid Class A driver’s license to operate Valley Water commercial vehicles and to transport light equipment used in vegetation management and flood control projects. Daily equipment operation may include a compactor, water truck, tree truck and chipper, dump truck, and wheel loader. Equipment is used to haul vegetative debris, maintain native plant mitigation sites, support invasive plant management efforts, and assist with Valley Water’s sandbag operations.

This position also ultimately requires a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate (QAC) in Category C (Right-of-Way) and Category F (Aquatics) to mix and apply herbicides and calibrate spray equipment for vegetation control on Valley Water managed properties.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Operation of vehicles and equipment associated with vegetation management activities.
• Support of skilled labor contract work on vegetation management activities.
• Calibration of herbicide spray equipment, interpreting pest control recommendations, calculation of herbicide tank mixes, mixing loading and application of herbicides to control undesirable plants.
• Supporting the monitoring and assessment of success criteria on mitigation sites.
• Providing input on and assisting lead and supervisory staff in tracking daily work accomplishments associated.
• Participate in a variety of integrated vegetation management activities using chemical, mechanical, and biological controls to manage native plant revegetation projects, invasive plant management projects, vegetation control projects, tree removals, biotechnical erosion control projects, and overall integrated vegetation management work on Valley Water properties. 
• Clear brush, weeds, and debris from worksites, canals, ponds, creeks, reservoirs, pipelines, water treatment plants, dams, and other open areas; prune vegetation, perform tree removals including standing or downed trees. 
• Prepare soil and install native plant revegetation per established plans; maintain mitigation areas to achieve success criteria and meet monitoring requirements. 
• Install, adjust, and repair irrigation systems, including heads, lines, and controllers.
• Operate a variety of small power tools and light equipment, including spray equipment, mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, pole saw, hydro seeder, small trenchers, loader, compactors, water trucks, forklift, straw mulcher, auger, sandbag machine, and chipper; clean, adjust, and perform minor maintenance on light equipment to ensure proper operating condition. 
• Mix and apply herbicides, and calibration of spray equipment to control the growth of vegetation on and around flood control and water distribution facilities and rights of way. 
• Build or remove browse cages or other devices to keep wildlife from damaging native plant revegetation sites. 
• Build phytosanitary benches, fences, irrigation, etc. in support of native plant holding facility. 
• Participate in Valley Water’s sandbag program as needed. 
• Perform calculations of required work materials; document daily application of chemical use; photo documentation of work, complete work order dailies, best management practices checklists, surveys, forms, and time data entries. Maintain paper and electronic records of work performed.

Ideal Training and Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. 

Must have a satisfactory driving record and possess a valid California Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement at the time of hire.

Possession of a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate or Qualified Applicator License in Category C issued by the State of California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation at the time of hire.

Possession of a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate or Qualified Applicator License in Category F issued by the State of California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation within 6 months of hire.

About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff.  Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Six months experience working in a customer service-related field.  Some experience or training in a parks settings is desirable.

Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated around regular days/hours of operations.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off), depending on the field office operational needs. Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits.

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

The Department:
The Recreation Division provides classes and programs for all ages and abilities. We aim to promote the use of safe, clean, and attractive facilities for enjoyment and quality of life for all ages and abilities. 

The Position:
The Recreation Specialist is the highest classification in the Recreation Leader series.  An incumbent in this class possesses technical expertise in a specialty such as cultural arts, physical fitness, drama, older adults, athletics, therapeutics, music, pre school, day camp, teen activities, and youth sports and is responsible for the planning, development, and supervision of a specialized activity phase of recreation programs .  With general policy and departmental philosophy guidance from a supervisor, an incumbent exercises sound independent judgment in the performance of duties. The Recreation Specialist is distinguished from the Recreation Instructor in that the former has an emphasis on developing and supervising large groups of children in specialized recreation activities while the latter is responsible for developing class curriculum and teaching classroom activities.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
• One thousand (1000) hours of experience in recreation leadership at the level of Recreation Leader III in general recreation programs such as day camp, sports, teens, older adults, and theater; and
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application

Possible Substitutions
• Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university, preferably with an emphasis in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field may be substituted for the required experience

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of the following is desirable:
• A valid California Class C driver's license
• A valid American Red Cross First Aid certificate

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• As a condition of employment, incumbents will be required to be fingerprinted in accordance with State of California law
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment

THE POSITION

Under supervision, performs skilled and technical fire suppression and prevention activities. Must be prepared to act up to the next rank as needed and performs other related duties as required.

Drives fire apparatus to fire incidents and emergency calls; prepares for pumping operations and pumps water to fire at proper pressure; Inspects pumping and other equipment to ensure that apparatus is in good working condition and notifies Fire Captain of any defects; inspects, cleans, and maintains equipment; assists in keeping fire station in a clean and orderly condition; maintains an accurate running log of out-of-service streets and hydrants in the City of Chowchilla; performs fire suppression tasks/responsibilities required during fire suppression, salvage, and overhaul; conducts fire prevention inspections of assigned occupancies and tests fire protection equipment; detects hazardous conditions or violations of fire and building ordinances and laws; issues citations and warnings for violations; may conduct training of civilian and Fire personnel in applicable fire code regulations, fire inspection methods and procedures, and fire safety; investigates cause and origin of fires, seeking evidence of arson or of fire code violations; prepares follow-up correction notices and letters pertaining to initial inspections; Performs related duties as required.

PREREQUISITES

Education and/or Experience:

• High School/GED and
• Currently serving a permanent appointment as a Firefighter with the CFD.

Lateral: 

• Currently employed as a Fire Engineer (or equivalent rank) with a fire suppression government agency for a minimum of one (1) year and have completed probation within that rank.
• Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and First Aid Certificate or higher certification by appointment.
• A current Cal-JAC CPAT card at time of application. (Desired)

Volunteer Lateral: 

• Three years of Volunteer Firefighting for the Chowchilla Volunteer Fire Department with a minimum of one year as a Fire Engineer and have completed probation within that rank.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 43,000 low-income residents.

SCCHA’s Real Estate Development Division is a mission-oriented, dynamic, and collaborative team, working closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets in service of the tenants and communities we serve. By embedding the innovative spirit of the Silicon Valley into our agency’s culture, we are elevating our efforts to address the affordable housing shortage in Santa Clara County. We prioritize housing developments for extremely low-income individuals and families that embrace residents’ lived experiences. How You Will Make an Impact:

We are looking for a dynamic individual who will be a part of the real estate department and help us develop a pipeline of over 20 projects and =1500 units of affordable housing. We are looking for creative problem-solving team players, who enjoy the challenge of a variety of projects ranging from new construction multi-family housing to the renovation and rehabilitation of existing structures to the repurposing of commercial properties and master planning for affordable housing.

Best qualified candidates, depending on level (Assistant, Staff, Senior), will have a Bachelors Degree and between at least one (1) to three (3) years of previous experience developing affordable housing using Federal and State funding sources, pro formas and financial model analysis, and reviewing and negotiating real estate development transactional documents. Strong problem-solving and effective communication skills to work with all cross-functional partners through the project.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Emergency Management College Summer Intern for the summer of 2026. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in city government emergency management programs that make substantial impacts to the community. The Emergency Management Team works year-round to ensure that community is prepared for disasters through planning, training, outreach, and coordination with local and regional partners. Joining our team means contributing to meaningful work that directly supports community reliance and preparedness. 

Working under the supervision of the Emergency Services and Volunteer Coordinator, the Emergency Management Intern will assist with planning, preparedness, outreach, and administrative functions that support OEM programs and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) readiness. Work includes both office-based and field support activities.

VOLUNTEER WORK SCHEDULE 

Internships can start as early as May 26, 2026 and end as late as September 30, 2026. This paid internship is offered at 15 - 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The assigned manager will work with the Intern to identify a work schedule during standard work hours as described below. The office start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Assist with reviewing and updating emergency planes, annexes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
• Support EOC readiness activities, including equipment checks, document organization, and checklist updates
• Maintain resource lists, contact databases, and situational awareness tools
• Assist with Emergency Management Volunteer coordination and management 
• Help develop outreach materials and coordinate community education events

VTA’s Engineering and Program Delivery (EPD) Division is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer for the Quality Assurance (QA) Group under the Technical Services Department.  

Quality Assurance Group: 
The QA Group supports all capital improvement programs for the Division during planning, design, procurement, construction and closeout phases of highway, rail, transit and facilities projects.  As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring delivery of quality products and services for the Division. It is the responsibility of the QA Group to ensure the development of each project’s Contract-specific Quality Management Plan (CQMP) and to conduct audits and surveillances, based on the approved CQMPs, to monitor and assure effective implementation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with VTA staff, consultants and contractors, attention to detail and ability to lead the QA team with day-to-day activities are desirable skill sets.

• Supervises and directs projects in connection with the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of transportation systems including fixed guideways, highway transit, bicycle, airport, and other facilities;

• Supervises the preparation specifications and related documents used in advertising transportation projects for bids;

Minimum Qualifications:

Employment Standards
Training and experience equivalent to graduation from college with major work in engineering and five years professional engineering experience on transportation systems or projects, including assignments which provided the opportunity to demonstrate supervisory abilities.

Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California in a field related to transportation engineering at the time of appointment.
