The Position:

The Customer Service Representative is the entry-level classification in the Customer Service Representative series. This classification has a primary focus on providing superior customer service to the citizens and customers of the City of Santa Clara in handling a variety of customer account and billing issues.  Incumbents in this classification may be assigned to answer telephone calls, handle difficult inquiries, perform cashiering duties, process business licenses, and perform functions associated with customer billing, analysis, account adjustments, collections, or the financial assistance programs offered to utility customers.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior Customer Service Representative in that the latter is a lead worker position requiring a greater degree of technical knowledge, analytical ability, and independent judgment.

Working Environment and Schedule:  Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule which will be divided between onsite work, at home remote work, some outdoor work, some local travel, and occasional travel to Sacramento. The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department mission is to provide opportunities for physical, cultural and social well-being; protect and enhance the physical environment; and ensure the effective and efficient use of public facilities and open space. The Recreation Division sponsors recreation and enrichment programs that meet community needs, address childhood obesity, promote wellness, create a culture of curiosity and learning, enhance the quality of life for the participants, and stimulate economic and community development. Recreation staff are also tasked with operating recreation centers, picnic sites and rental facilities, preschools and select South San Francisco Unified School District after school sites that serve residents of all age groups. 

Foster City is seeking a well-qualified individual with strong leadership skills to fill the position of Financial Services Manager. They are responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day operations of accounts receivable, business license, cash receipts, and utilities. The Financial Services Manager compiles annual City budget and all non-departmental budgets, manages the effective use of division resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service, provides complex and responsible support to the Finance Director in areas of expertise, and performs related work as required.

The position will be an overfill position due to the current incumbent's retirement, pending City Council approval. This position will be filled for training purposes to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of operations allowing the new hire to gain hands-on experience and knowledge before the incumbent's departure. The anticipated start date will be October 2025. 

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training, and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest, with over 70 employees during construction season. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members who may be geographically dispersed. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of their assigned field office and has supervisory responsibility over one administrative assistant and supervisory level staff.  Each geographical area consists of up to 18 full-time staff members as well as seasonal staff. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional with a highly collaborative management style, strong emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills. Key responsibilities include:

• Assumes management responsibility for all maintenance and operations functions and activities of the field office, including maintenance of preserves, public access, facilities, vehicles, and resource management.
• Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Department; participants in long term and short-term project planning; recommends within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
• Participates in the development and administration of and oversees Area budgets.

Work Environment: This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and will be assigned to a field office. About the Position:  The Farm Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and construction tasks at Deer Hollow Farm in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Deer Hollow Farm is an educational, working farm with cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and other livestock.  Duties include performing maintenance and construction tasks using hand and power tools, operating and maintaining Farm vehicles, and assisting with daily Farm operations. The Farm Maintenance Worker will also assist with basic support and care of animals; greet visitors and provide information to the public; and work with volunteers on farm-related projects. Working Conditions:

This full-time position is part of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department and assigned to Deer Hollow Farm.  In addition, this position may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. There may be an option to be on a 9/80 schedule after an initial training period.

 

Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits. Depending on the exposure, employee is required to wear head, hearing, eye, foot, face, hand, and full protection equipment. Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes, and poison oak.

Education & Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

 

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in facilities management, construction project management, or a related field, and three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of farm properties and related facilities.

 

Licenses & Certifications Required:  

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within six (6) months of employment.
