The City of Simi Valley is seeking a qualified Senior Engineer to join its team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for civil engineers looking for variety, challenge, and meaningful work in public infrastructure.

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for managing complex capital improvement projects, conducting hydraulic studies, and performing advanced technical engineering tasks related to the planning, design, and construction of waterworks facilities. Key responsibilities include preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a range of water infrastructure and public works projects, such as:

• Water main line replacements

• Water tank rehabilitation and replacement

• Pump station upgrades

The Senior Engineer works under the general supervision of a higher-level professional engineer and provides lead supervision to assigned engineering staff, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery of projects.

 

                                 POSITION DETAILS:

• Regular full-time position
• 9/80 work schedule (every other Monday or Friday off)
• Salary range $52.06 to $66.95 hourly with Excellent Benefits (see below)

 

                             MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 

Education/Training: 

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering or architecture with specialized course work related to area of assignment.

Experience: 

• Four years of professional engineering experience related to area of assignment including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory responsibility.

License or Certificate: 

• Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California, or a licensed Architect in the State of California (when assigned to Building & Safety).
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Plans Examiner certificate may be required depending on area of assignment.

The Position:

The Customer Service Representative is the entry-level classification in the Customer Service Representative series. This classification has a primary focus on providing superior customer service to the citizens and customers of the City of Santa Clara in handling a variety of customer account and billing issues.  Incumbents in this classification may be assigned to answer telephone calls, handle difficult inquiries, perform cashiering duties, process business licenses, and perform functions associated with customer billing, analysis, account adjustments, collections, or the financial assistance programs offered to utility customers.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior Customer Service Representative in that the latter is a lead worker position requiring a greater degree of technical knowledge, analytical ability, and independent judgment.

• One (1) year of experience in banking, business license processing, call center operations, cashiering, customer service, and/or utility billing, preferably with a municipal or utility agency

The Department

Recreation staff are also tasked with operating recreation centers, picnic sites and rental facilities, preschools and select South San Francisco Unified School District after school sites that serve residents of all age groups. 

Foster City is seeking a well-qualified individual with strong leadership skills to fill the position of Financial Services Manager. They are responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day operations of accounts receivable, business license, cash receipts, and utilities. The Financial Services Manager compiles annual City budget and all non-departmental budgets, manages the effective use of division resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service, provides complex and responsible support to the Finance Director in areas of expertise, and performs related work as required.

The position will be an overfill position due to the current incumbent's retirement, pending City Council approval. This position will be filled for training purposes to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of operations allowing the new hire to gain hands-on experience and knowledge before the incumbent's departure. The anticipated start date will be October 2025. 

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or a related.

Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible government finance experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training, and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Financial Services Department will make the hiring decision.
