The City of Sebastopol is seeking a skilled, dynamic, results-driven Accountant to fill one full-time vacancy. The Accountant performs a variety of complex and technical financial accounting and program support duties in the areas of utility billing, bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, purchasing, project accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger. Additionally, the Accountant may be assigned to perform all functions related to and serve as a City resource for one or more accounting related programs administration.

• The organization and function of a public agency.
• Reviewing and routing contracts for signature.
• Entering data into an enterprise resource planning system (ERP).
• Experience with reporting and data analysis features within an ERP.
• Generating purchase orders, tracking spending, and producing reports.
• Conduct sourcing events and addressing stakeholder requests.
• Assisting departments with purchases by interacting with vendors, supporting price and term negotiations, and administering an online solicitations tool.

The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest, with over 70 employees during construction season. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members who may be geographically dispersed. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of their assigned field office and has supervisory responsibility over one administrative assistant and supervisory level staff.  Each geographical area consists of up to 18 full-time staff members as well as seasonal staff. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional with a highly collaborative management style, strong emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills. The Area Manager is knowledgeable in the principles and practices of public access and land management, open space and preserve maintenance, resource management, managing budgets, prioritizing work tasks, as well as responding to public, stakeholder agencies, and other department inquiries.  For additional information about the position, see the Job Description on our website. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Assumes management responsibility for all maintenance and operations functions and activities of the field office, including maintenance of preserves, public access, facilities, vehicles, and resource management.
• Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Department; participants in long term and short-term project planning; recommends within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
• Participates in the development and administration of and oversees Area budgets.
• Serves as a liaison for assigned Area to other District departments, outside agencies, neighborhood groups, and concerned citizens.
• Coordinates with fire agencies on fire risk prevention activities.
• Provides highly complex staff assistance to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager; develops and reviews staff reports related to assigned activities and services; may present information to the Board of Directors and various commissions, committees, and boards; provides staff support to commissions, committees, and task forces, as necessary.

Work Environment: This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and will be assigned to a field office. The Area Manager works in an office setting primarily, and will attend various meetings and visit District field sites, which may require hiking through steep terrain and wildland areas and driving in remote areas on dirt roads.  Employee may be exposed to blood and body fluids when rendering First Aid and CPR. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 100 pounds, or heavier weights, with the use of proper equipment. Current work schedule is on site Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., recurring 9/80 Monday day off.

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid First Responder or equivalent certificate

About the Position:  The Farm Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and construction tasks at Deer Hollow Farm in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Deer Hollow Farm is an educational, working farm with cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and other livestock.  Duties include performing maintenance and construction tasks using hand and power tools, operating and maintaining Farm vehicles, and assisting with daily Farm operations. The Farm Maintenance Worker will also assist with basic support and care of animals; greet visitors and provide information to the public; and work with volunteers on farm-related projects. The City of Sunnyvale is seeking two Senior Applications Analysts in the Information Technology Department. These positions are intended for support and enhancements of our Oracle Cloud ERP & HCM applications. In addition the positions will assume primary and secondary support roles for multiple enterprise systems including system configuration, reporting and interfaces, day-to-day operational issues, break/fix, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and on-call rotations.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience with supporting HCM or Financial systems, preferably an integrated ERP/HCM system, ideally Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.  Our Oracle Cloud ERP modules include General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Procure to Pay, Inventory Management, Accounts Receivable and Project Portfolio Management, and HCM includes Core HR, Benefits, Absence, Time and Labor and Payroll; the position will provide a strong techno-functional foundation to other team members.  The candidate we seek will be detail-oriented, able to create and edit documentation, and understand technical complexities involved in functional configuration, integration, interface, and report development with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with end users.

 

Work Schedule: The position is eligible for Telework, up to 2 days per week, after a 6-month mandatory onsite work schedule.  The Telework schedule is subject to approval from the department head as permitted by City policy and practice.

The incumbent will be a part of a cohesive team of 15 in the Natural Resources Department, which is comprised of three Programs: Wildlife, Vegetation, and Earth Sciences. The Wildlife Program has five full-time program staff, including this position, and a seasonal intern. The Wildlife Program covers a broad range of topics including but not limited to: permit administration, wildlife conflict management, special status species monitoring and research. About the Position: The Wildlife Ecologist III will co-lead Midpen’s natural resource permitting program for capital and routine maintenance with their counterpart in the Earth Sciences Program.  This position is responsible for negotiating, administering and overseeing compliance with regulatory permits; reviewing documents and other work products prepared by consultants or District staff as needed to satisfy permit application or reporting requirements; obtaining wildlife (Endangered Species Act) permits and overseeing permit compliance for capital projects and routine maintenance; generating reports for submittal to regulatory agencies; and coordinating with regulatory agency staff on permitting and compliance.  General responsibilities of this position will also include managing consultants and contractors; managing wildlife habitat restoration or enhancement projects; writing detailed technical summaries and reports for District staff and the public; and conducting surveys in the field.

 

The Wildlife Ecologist III has broad technical experience in wildlife and habitat management, is self-directed, and works independently managing complex large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in: negotiating and securing permits (ideally programmatic permits) from regulatory agencies primarily California Department of Fish and Wildlife and US Fish and Wildlife Service but may include US Army Corps of Engineers or Regional Water Quality Control Board; overseeing sensitive status species monitoring, reporting and recovery efforts; land stewardship and environmental planning; data collection, analysis, and interpretation; GIS software or online platforms; preparation of clear and concise reports; developing and maintaining records for regulatory agency permits; and managing consultants and contractors. Knowledge of CEQA is desired but not required.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

• Possesses a broad breadth of understanding of wildlife management for wide ranging taxa from large megafauna to micro invertebrates

• Experience in negotiating and securing permits (ideally programmatic permits) from regulatory agencies primarily California Department of Fish and Wildlife and US Fish and Wildlife Service but may include US Army Corps of Engineers or Regional Water Quality Control Board.
• Experience overseeing sensitive status species monitoring, reporting and recovery efforts
• Is a creative thinker, problem solver and able to juggle competing priorities
• Strong background in project management, from developing project scopes, schedules and budgets to consultant and contract oversight
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to deliver capital projects, and public access projects, while avoiding or minimizing impacts to sensitive natural resources
• Assists staff in designing projects to reduce the need for mitigation, understands mitigation monitoring and reporting, and works creatively to secure mitigation when needed
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, environmental advocacy groups, scientists and researchers, as well as other staff, boards, volunteers, vendors and the general public
• Strong public speaking skills
• Report writing skills

Work Environment: The Wildlife Ecologist III functions within a team environment with other Resource Management staff. The position is located in Midpen’s District’s Los Altos office, reporting to the Senior Resource Management Specialist. Work will occur in both office and field environments throughout the District’s Open Space Preserves, with travel from site to site. When conducting field assignments, work may include traversing rough, difficult terrain in inclement or hot weather with exposure to poison oak and other environmental risks. Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in watershed science/management, hydrology, water law policy, engineering, ecology, biology, earth sciences or other closely related subject, and
• three years increasingly responsible experience in the field of resource planning and management, including at least one year of supervisory and administrative responsibility. Requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• A master’s degree is desirable.

About the Position: The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest department with over 70 employees during construction season. As such, this position requires constant communication and alignment with team members and stakeholders.  This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and has direct supervision over one Administrative Assistant. Work Environment: This full-time position is part of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department at Midpen’s Administrative Office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position following successful onboarding. A minimum of three days on-site in the office is required per week. This is primarily a sedentary office classification.  Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Some fieldwork may be required, which involves the ability to walk for short distances over rough terrain, drive vehicles over unimproved roads, and stand for extended periods.

After passing required tests, the employee must commit to attending a 20-week program with the Santa Rosa Junior College Public Safety Training Center. The police academy will be held Monday – Friday and include some nights and weekends. The next academy is January 5 - May 22, 2026. 

Upon graduation, the successful trainee will be transitioned to a Field Training Officer program with the Mill Valley Police Department and promoted to Step 1 Police Officer (probationary) with full benefits. If the employee does not complete and graduate the police academy with a POST academy certificate, they will be released from employment. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Police Officer Trainee position enables an incumbent to attend a local law enforcement academy and earn their POST (California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training) certificate of academy completion while enjoying the support and mentorship of our agency, and receiving compensation. Through the academy and certification process, the successful incumbent will become eligible for promotion to Police Officer and immediate transition into MVPD's Field Training Program.
