ABOUT THE POSITION

If you are looking to gain hands-on experience while making a difference in the community, the City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a motivated and detail-oriented college summer intern to work in the Human Resources and Risk Management Department. 

Throughout the internship, you will gain exposure to employee benefits and incentive programs, recruitment and hiring processes, payroll administration, labor agreements, HR compliance, and policy development. You’ll build practical, real-world HR experience in a fast-paced, collaborative, and supportive workplace. Additionally, you will gain hands-on experience with NeoGov, a leading applicant tracking system used by public agencies nationwide, as well as Tyler Munis HRIS and payroll systems. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply your creativity and organizational skills by assisting with the development of monthly HR newsletters and wellness initiatives.

ABOUT THE TEAM

WORK SCHEDULE 

This internship can start as early as May 26, 2026, and end as late as September 30, 2026. This paid internship is offered at 15 – 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. 

The official start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Provide support for recruitment activities, including job postings and interview coordination.
• Assist in supporting the preparation of the City’s annual Health Fair and wellness initiatives.
• Assist with tasks related to the Employee Appreciation Committee.
• Assist with employee wellness newsletter and other activities.
• Prepare and/or update employee safety program materials.

Building Inspector Combination Certified III: $126,169.68 - $153,709.92 

Building Inspector Combination Certified Senior: $143,073.84 - $174,370.56  

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. 

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill various Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.  

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions will be located subject to business need. These positions will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard. 

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.  

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.  

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.  

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.  

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.  

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.  

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.  

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Executive Assistant/Deputy District Clerk will be required to attend evening Board/Committee meetings. Meetings may be held in Los Altos or offsite.  This position is part of the General Manager’s office at Midpen’s office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work environment for this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by two (2) years of college-level coursework in business or secretarial science and
• Three (3) years of responsible secretarial experience involving assisting executive management or a high-level officials with administrative duties.
• Experience in a City or Special District Clerk’s Office is highly desirable.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Certified Municipal Clerk designation is desirable.

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The department is comprised of five divisions: Administrative Services, Budget and Treasury, Accounting, Municipal Services, and Purchasing. The Position: 

The Finance Department seeks to recruit a Meter Reader with experience working independently, with a high level of motivation, integrity, and customer service. This position will read between 500 and 1,200 analog and digital residential, commercial, and industrial water and electric utility meters to ensure the accuracy of readings entered into a hand-held data entry terminal. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate utility billing and revenue integrity by collecting and recording meter data while providing courteous, professional interactions with customers in the field.

This recruitment seeks a team to support the City Clerk in a citywide digitizing project involving historical files, records, maps, drawings, and related materials.  The project is in progress and will likely run through June/July with team members working between 16~36 hours per week, depending on their availability and preferences.  Team members will work collaboratively in groups of three to four and must have the ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.

Position Duties

The salary range for the Senior Power Resources Specialist Classification is:
$147,005.04 - $180,070.80 Annually
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy
• Working with other internal teams to share and learn relevant information
• Other duties as assigned     

Minimum Qualifications

Education 
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or related field to utility business.

Experience

Three (3) years of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.

Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license is required.

THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION, REQUIRING PART OF THE WORK WEEK TO BE ONSITE IN THE DOWNTOWN SAN JOSE OFFICE. The hybrid work schedule may change due to the department’s business needs in the future.

Building Inspector Combination: $114,769.20 - $139,579.44 

Building Inspector Combination Certified I: $118,154.40 - $143,554.32 

Building Inspector Combination Certified II: $121,321.20 - $147,878.64 

Building Inspector Combination Certified III: $126,169.68 - $153,709.92 

Building Inspector Combination Certified Senior: $143,073.84 - $174,370.56  

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. 

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill two (2) Building Inspector-Electrical Specialty, Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.   

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

The Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department depends on reliable technology for public safety, investigations, communications, and record-keeping. As the Information Technology Systems Administrator, your work will directly contribute to the safety of our residents and the efficiency of our public services by making sure all systems are stable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices, state and federal data security requirements, and Town policies. You will serve as the cloud security officer for the Police Department and help maintain the Town’s IT infrastructure and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), as needed. 

This is a hands-on role perfect for a motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who can communicate effectively with other team members and staff and work independently with little supervision.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Administer, monitor, and maintain servers, networks, workstations, storage, and related infrastructure for the Police Department and the wider Town technology environment.
• Implement and enforce security measures, patching, vulnerability management, backup and recovery, disaster planning.

• Assist with or lead procurement, installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software.

• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, networks, workstations, and other IT infrastructure used by the Police Department and other Town departments.
• Serve as a member of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Team responsible for developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting all aspects of EOC technology.
• Coordinate with and manage external vendors for system upgrades, maintenance, and new technology rollouts.
• Assist with or lead technology projects from conception to implementation.
