The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years’ experience performing the full range of technical work in the areas of general accounting and auditing.  Responsibilities include:

• Accounts receivable/payable.
• Reconciling expenditure and revenue accounts including capital assets and long-term debt funds.
• Verifying availability of funds and classification of expenditures.
• Reconciling expenditure and revenue accounts, including land acquisition worksheets, capital assets, and long-term debt funds; reconciling bank statements.
• Assist in processing debt service obligations, including creating payment schedule, paying annual obligations, posting interest on bonds and notes from statement, updating liability balance, and posting journal entries.
• Review credit cards monthly and ensure that transactions are properly coded and approved.
• Providing technical assistance to the Accountant in preparation of the year-end audit.
• Review, post, balance, reconcile, and maintain accurate and confidential accounting and payroll records.
• Assist in gathering data and preparing monthly financial and statistical reports.
• Verify, post, and record a variety of financial transactions; prepare and maintain databases.
• Maintain a variety of ledgers, registers, and journals according to established accounting policies and procedures; reconcile transactions and account statements; record changes and resolve differences; maintain the accuracy of accounting and financial records.
• Report generation.
• Produce journal entries to post  to the general ledger,
• Accurately prepare employee and vendor payments for retirement and other benefits; submit reportable compensation to CalPERS and process payments; prepare Federal and State tax reports.

The City of Patterson’s Finance Department is seeking to fill two (2) part-time Cashier positions and to establish an Eligibility List.  Under direct supervision, the Cashier receives, accounts for, and reconciles cash, checks, and electronic payments. This position is responsible for collecting and maintaining revenue and transaction records.  Incumbents receive, post, issue receipts, reconcile, and balance deposits daily.  Revenues collected include utility billing payments, various municipal services, and recreational program fees.  Must accurately collect,  account for, and safeguard all funds, including tallying and reconciling monies received at the end of each shift. Must be able to generate and reconcile revenue reports.  Operate a multi-line phone system, provide information on department and program areas, and refer inquiries as appropriate. Greet and assist customers at the front counter, via telephone, or email by responding to inquiries professionally and courteously. Performs related duties as required and assigned.  

This position is established for 19 hours a week and will be working weekdays during regular business hours. 

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) is seeking a self-motivated and highly experienced fleet professional to join our team as our next Fleet Services Program Manager! The newly created position offers an opportunity to join our cohesive team while being responsible for the management of the District's vehicle and equipment fleet used in the construction, maintenance, restoration and repair of public trails and critical natural habitat in the foothills and ridges of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Fleet Services Program Manager is a skilled and forward-thinking professional with fleet management expertise, strong budgeting and administrative skills, regulatory compliance experience, and a passion for innovative fleet management solutions.  The start date for this position is May 18, 2026 at the latest.

Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position following successful onboarding and may be eligible for a 9/80 schedule.  To meet service needs, three days of working on-site is required per week – set days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the office. The Fleet Services Program Manager will often meet with Midpen staff in the district field offices.  Employees may work in the field and occasionally be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, or road hazards. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time Maintenance Worker I position in our Utilities Department.  Positions may be filled in the Wastewater or Water Section. From maintaining water lines to supporting emergency repairs, your work will directly impact the daily lives of our residents. For this recruitment, preference will be given to candidates who possess a CWEA Wastewater Collections Grade 1 Certification,  Water Distribution Grade I, a Class A driver’s license, experience operating heavy equipment, and/or underground construction or wastewater collection experience.Although the current two vacancies are all in the Wastewater section, this recruitment will also create an eligibility list for future openings in our other sections – Water and possibly the Parks and Landscapes, and Streets/Trees/Stormwater & Drainage teams in Public Works. Interested candidates should apply and get on the eligibility list in the event an opening occurs in the future giving you the opportunity to explore a variety of career paths within public service. Eligibility lists are typically good for one year and may be extended for an additional year.
 

The Wastewater Section personnel are responsible for inspecting and maintaining the sanitary sewer collection infrastructure to include maintaining lines and connections, completing repairs, and proactively flushing lines to prevent sanitary sewer overflows. The Water Section personnel are responsible for planning, operation, and maintenance of the City’s wells, and water distribution system ensuring a safe and reliable supply of drinking water. The duties also include managing booster pumps, reservoirs, routine system maintenance, water sampling and the monthly reading of all water meters. 

Under direct supervision of supervisor, this position performs work in one of the sections as assigned. Employees in this job classification may rotate/transfer between the sections noted above as determined by the City and will be required to fully meet the job requirements, including the obtaining of certifications, when assigned to a specific section for an extended period of time.

The goal of the Wastewater and Water Operations teams is to protect public health and enhance the quality of life for those who live, work, and visit the City of Gilroy. About the Position: The Supervising Ranger is a dynamic and impactful leadership role with broad responsibility, exercising sound judgement and meaningful independence, while overseeing patrol operations across Midpen preserves. The position leads and mentors a team of sworn district peace officers, coordinates emergency response efforts, builds positive relationships with the public and key stakeholders, represents the District at public meetings, and works collaboratively with departments throughout the organization.

Successful candidates are people-focused leaders who can inspire and guide staff in both day-to-day operations and critical incidents.  The role calls for clear and effective communication, the ability to work with tact and diplomacy, and a commitment to public safety and resource protection.  Responsibilities also include enforcing applicable laws and regulations; administering first aid, providing Emergency Medical Response as a first responder, operating emergency patrol vehicles and two-way radios; and supporting wildland fire suppression efforts  as needed. Assigned Location: Midpen is currently seeking to fill one Supervising Ranger position, reporting to an Area Superintendent. This assignment is scheduled to begin in July 2026, and will be based at the Foothills Field Office in Cupertino (Address: 501 Rancho San Antonio Drive, Cupertino, CA 95014). The District reserves the right to reassign employees to other locations as staffing and service requirements evolve.

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Ranger is a challenging and adventurous generalist position offering a wide variety of responsibilities and opportunities to exercise independent judgement while working on Midpen preserves. Rangers serve a unique role as stewards of the open space by regularly interacting with the community to provide visitors information, natural resource education, interpretive services, enforcement of pertinent regulations, and performing limited maintenance and resource management work on Midpen properties and facilities. Rangers patrol on foot, in all-terrain vehicles, on motorcycles, and in four-wheel drive patrol trucks while enforcing Midpen land use regulations and applicable laws.  Rangers ensure safe public use of preserves, while also responding to emergency calls including medical aids and wildland fires.

About the Position:

The start date for these positions is early-December 2026. For additional information, see the Ranger Recruit and Ranger specifications on our job description page at OpenSpace.org.

There are two types of Ranger Assignments:

1. Ranger with a primary assignment - Generally works at a primary reporting location with regularly occurring consecutive days off.
2. Ranger with a flexible assignment - Will be assigned initially to a primary reporting location with regularly occurring consecutive days off, however Rangers with a flexible assignment may work a varied schedule across multiple reporting locations based on operational needs. They may be assigned to cover both planned and unplanned shift vacancies, including extended leaves of absence and promotional vacancies. During these assignments, rangers with a flexible assignment may be required to report to alternate field offices and/or adjust regular days off.

The Ranger Recruit is a training-level position for individuals who do not possess a Ranger Academy certificate or equivalent, and valid PC 832 certificate.  Upon commencement of employment, new Ranger Recruits will participate in pre-academy instruction on the duties of a District Ranger, receive orientation to District lands and operations and complete additional required training.  Upon completion of pre-academy instruction, new Ranger Recruits will participate in a district approved Park Ranger Law Enforcement Academy based out of the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Center in San Jose, CA located on Bailey Avenue with the nearest cross street on Santa Teresa Avenue.  The 14-week long academy begins in January 2027 and will include California Penal Code 832 training.  The academy’s full course and tuition are paid for by Midpen. Upon successful completion of the academy and the District’s required robust 12-week Field Training Program and final review by the Chief Ranger, a Ranger Recruit may be appointed as a probationary Ranger.

What does a District Ranger do?  District Rangers are generalists who perform a wide variety of functions. A brief list of day-to-day activities follows:

• Midpen Rangers are sworn peace officers responsible for patrolling District Preserves and enforcing the District's regulations and pertinent local, State, and Federal laws on District Preserves. Patrol may be by 4x4 truck, foot, UTV, motorcycle, or mountain bike.  
• Respond to medical emergencies, wildland fires on Midpen lands, and search and rescue incidents.
• Help maintain the preserves by performing light maintenance tasks and resource management assignments.
• Engage the public through interpretive activities and community outreach.
• Shift schedules include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

Positions will be assigned to one of the following District offices:

Peace Officer Standards for Rangers: Ability to satisfy the selection standards for peace officers in California as set forth in Government Code Sections 1029, 1030 and 1031, and by the District. Ranger Recruits must complete Midpen’s requirements for training of Peace Officers by attending and successfully completing a Midpen approved law enforcement academy upon hire, unless they have recently successfully passed an equivalent academy, and possess a California Penal Code 832 certificate. 

Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Ranger Recruit

• Equivalent to an Associate degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience working in visitor/customer service or an equivalent position that includes interacting with the public.  Education and/or experience in law enforcement, resource management, natural sciences, park management, wildland firefighting, or a related field is highly desirable. 

• Certificates and Licenses: A valid California Class C driver’s license (or ability to obtain one upon appointment for candidates possessing an out of state license).

Ranger

• Meet all qualifications for Ranger Recruit, plus:

• Certificates and Licenses:  Current possession of a District approved Law Enforcement Training certification and a valid California 832 certificate for appointment as a peace officer, and ability to obtain the following certificates prior to completion of the employment probationary period: completion of the District’s Field Training Program, valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and Medical First Responder or equivalent; a Midpen approved Fire Suppression Training certificate; certification in the Incident Command System courses as specified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Working Conditions: Rangers work cohesively with local law enforcement, fire agencies and other adjoining land agencies. Rangers typically work alone and self-initiate their day-to-day patrols. Work conditions require rangers to work weekends, nights, and holidays in all weather conditions.  Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform all related emergency services and light maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. District Rangers interact daily with a diverse Bay Area community to provide safe access for all visitors.

Position Duties

 

The Energy department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division. This position is part of an exciting fast-paced team responsible for mitigating risks and managing a power portfolio comprised of hundreds of Megawatts of renewable energy projects. 

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Develop analytical modeling and reporting for evaluating portfolio-level and enterprise-wide risks, providing insights that strengthen decision making. 
• Define and quantify the risk metric to demonstrate financial risk during extreme, disadvantageous energy market conditions and assess their implications for the organization. 
• Support the creation of scalable risk management tools to track the various operational, financial, strategic, legislative, regulatory risks specific to the energy industry.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess critical energy-sector risks - such as wholesale market fluctuations and evolving regulatory requirements - and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Perform attribution analysis to identify the factors contributing to power portfolio performance and generate insights for strategic decision making.
• Perform sensitivity analyses on key energy-related risk variables using financial modeling techniques to evaluate organizational impact and prepare clear, data-driven reports for management.
• Coordinate with different divisions within the department to identify the key risks across various categories, supporting the development and maintenance of an enterprise risk register.
• Monitor the organization's risk exposure and the effectiveness of existing risk management strategies through continuous data analysis. 
• Evaluate enterprise risks, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate with business units to assess, track, and mitigate business-level risks, while informing enterprise-level risk assessment and management.
• Identify emerging operational and financial risks by analyzing internal and external energy-market data to evaluate risk likelihood, impact, exposure, and control effectiveness, providing strategic recommendations to prevent or reduce potential losses.
• Maintain an understanding of existing and new regulatory laws related to California Energy Regulation and assess how policy changes may impact organizational operations and compliance.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with strong modeling, analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. The candidate should have effective communication skills, show attention to detail, and be able to work independently. Candidates that are highly collaborative with colleagues and are able to think outside the box are ideal. Experience in energy sector is desirable.
 

The Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division is responsible for providing independent oversight of the risks in transacting for energy products and services as well as ensuring compliance with adopted risk management policies and procedures.  This unit also provides strategic support to facilitate the development and execution of various non-energy contracts, administers signed energy contracts, and manages the invoicing process.

The position will remain open until filled, with the first review of applications on March 13, 2026.

About the Light Rail Maintenance Department

Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Maintenance is located at the Guadalupe Light Rail Division. LRV Maintenance is responsible for timely and reliable maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repair and servicing of light rail vehicles and service equipment.

After a light rail vehicle returns from revenue service at the end of each day, Maintenance performs an interior inspection/walk-through of the vehicle, analyzes the Operator Defect Card, performs a visual inspection of the vehicle undercarriage, performs exterior and interior cleaning, cleans and repairs windows and seating, and removes and repairs graffiti and vandalism.

Demonstrated experience and training equivalent to a high school diploma and four years of experience in a maintenance environment working on systems similar to those found in a light rail vehicle including air conditioning, DC motors, generators, circuit diagrams, lighting and electrical troubleshooting.

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to qualify for and maintain a Class B license with passenger (P) endorsement and a maintenance LRV operation certification.

Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and odd and unusual hours.

• Perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, rebuilding, overhauling, and safety/preventive maintenance inspections;

• Perform electronic fabrication and assembly tasks, such as soldering and wire harnessing;
• Make time and material cost estimates and keep accurate records;
• Implement preventive maintenance and safety inspection procedures;

• Meet established deadlines;

• Learn and stay current on all new technologies introduced into the transit industries as it relates to light rail vehicle maintenance;
• Familiarize other Electro-Mechanics and other classifications in the proper method of performing their job;
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of business.
