The Department:
The Recreation Division provides classes and programs for all ages and abilities. We aim to promote the use of safe, clean, and attractive facilities for enjoyment and quality of life for all ages and abilities. 

The Position:
The Recreation Specialist is the highest classification in the Recreation Leader series.  An incumbent in this class possesses technical expertise in a specialty such as cultural arts, physical fitness, drama, older adults, athletics, therapeutics, music, pre school, day camp, teen activities, and youth sports and is responsible for the planning, development, and supervision of a specialized activity phase of recreation programs .  With general policy and departmental philosophy guidance from a supervisor, an incumbent exercises sound independent judgment in the performance of duties. The Recreation Specialist is distinguished from the Recreation Instructor in that the former has an emphasis on developing and supervising large groups of children in specialized recreation activities while the latter is responsible for developing class curriculum and teaching classroom activities.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
• One thousand (1000) hours of experience in recreation leadership at the level of Recreation Leader III in general recreation programs such as day camp, sports, teens, older adults, and theater; and
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application

Possible Substitutions
• Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university, preferably with an emphasis in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field may be substituted for the required experience

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of the following is desirable:
• A valid California Class C driver's license
• A valid American Red Cross First Aid certificate

Under general supervision, assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing large complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include mainframes, mini-computers, personal computers, mobile devices, LANS, WANs, servers, data storage and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone. 

The 1042 Security Engineer is the journey level position in the Engineer series. The class is distinguished from the Senior level by the complexity of the tasks, projects or duties assigned, and is more independent than the Assistant level. This classification performs a wide range of complex analytical, design, planning, implementation, enhancement and problem resolution tasks on large complex systems and networks. Works within a framework of established procedures and interprets policies, procedures and guidelines. This level may formulate recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations. Incumbents require only occasional instruction or assistance. Work is reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Serves as a technical architect and systems integrator for large complex systems or networks, with a focus on securing vulnerabilities and reducing risk of system and/or asset compromises.

Essential Duties:
 

1. Determine requirements for the development environment and / or enhancement for large complex systems that serve HSA’s programs. May research and conduct feasibility studies on new technologies.
2. Design, plan, integrate, test, implement, document and enhance large complex systems. This may involve the analysis, coding (.NET C#, Cold Fusion), web application design, database design, and evaluation of systems software, hardware and communications strategies.
3. Perform systems integration for interoperability over dissimilar platforms and technologies. This may involve the integration of various protocols and systems software.
4. Determine the proper installation parameters for software for smooth integration and efficiency in relation to the enterprise system and network.
5. Write code to customize large systems software which may involve specialized programming languages.
6. Read and understand requirements documentation and other documentation in order to write code to implement the required features for application systems.
7. Analyze, detect, identify and correct complex systems software or hardware deficiencies. Analyze, research and debug program logic and systems; modify program logic; analyze service requests for system changes or new requirements to determine the most effective approach and the appropriate staff time required to achieve the needed modification.
8. Provide emergency technical support for application issues to ensure system availability and data integrity. May provide on-call support to ensure rapid recovery from software or hardware problems for mission-critical systems and networks.
9. Act as the liaison between vendors, technical support hot-lines and departments to resolve complex systems. Coordinate and implement corrective measures; this may involve site visits, telephone assistance, remote systems and participation in technical committees.
10. Facilitate the demonstration and training of staff in the use of new hardware or software products.
11. Document procedures and troubleshooting techniques related to systems software and hardware; develop technical documentation and review documentation prior to general distribution.
12. Plan, develop and implement backup and recovery procedures for large systems.
13. Communicate with managers regarding system performance and operational issues. Suggest improvements to management.

THE POSITION:

This can be a stressful and demanding job located within the Police Department requiring shift work, weekend and holiday duty.  Although hours vary, this is an on-call, as-needed position that is paid hourly.  Using RIMS (Records Information Management System), per diem dispatchers dispatch police and transfer calls to Fire & EMS under emergency conditions; receive residential alarm calls and take calls of an emergency and non-emergency nature from citizens; greets public and assists at the front counter.  Dispatchers must remain calm and tactful under trying conditions, remembering detailed information, and thinking clearly while performing several tasks at once.

To maintain familiarity with the Atherton Police Dispatch Center, we can offer guaranteed 16 hours of shifts spread over a few days per month. You'll provide break relief while also getting a chance to work with another dispatcher. Since we may not always have many shifts available, expectations would be that you would also assist with open shifts/sick calls as needed and not just rely on the 16 hours.

Project Name: Train Control Upgrade Project

The Transit Division is currently in the process of developing and procuring a new train control system, as well as streamlining operations at the new Transportation Management Center (TMC). The Program Delivery and Support Unit within the Transit Division was created in 2018 to oversee capital program and project budgets, manage vehicle and onboard equipment projects, testing and acceptance of rolling stock and technology projects that will deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions which improve safety and the Agency’s ability to deliver quality transit service. Within the Program Delivery and Support unit, the Transit Technology Group handles the delivery, acceptance, and management of technology systems which are critical to transit operations.

The Train Control Upgrade Project is an 8-year, multimillion dollar project with the goal of modernizing the existing Automatic Train Control System in Muni’s subway as well as expanding the supervision and limited control aspects of a Communication-Based Train Control System to the entire Muni light rail system.

Under the general direction of the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager, the Lead Project Engineer manages the Train Control Upgrade Project engineering team and acts as the SFMTA lead for the overall system design. The Lead Project Engineer assists the Project Manager with oversight duties related to project design and scheduling to facilitate the procurement, development, and maintenance of the future train control system. Additionally, this position is responsible to the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager for ensuring that the future train control system design meets the SFMTA’s objectives for the project, and that the system design conforms to all applicable SFMTA, state, local, and federal standards.

The Train Control Upgrade Project will be delivered through a series of contracts with the technology vendor (Supplier) and other firms providing installation, construction support, technical expertise, and professional services. The Lead Project Engineer will act as the SFMTA design authority for the project by supervising the production of technical documentation from the project contractors, leading technical coordination between the department and Supplier, and ensuring the future system meets the performance metrics and technical specifications laid out in the Supplier contract(s).

In addition, the Lead Project Engineer will act as the SFMTA technical representative to review, accept, or when necessary, audit, technical project submittals and deliverables provided by the Supplier and other project contractors related to system design. As the SFMTA technical representative, the Lead Project Engineer will have a strong understanding of the project contract requirements and be able to identify key project staff and agency stakeholders for review when evaluating submittals and project deliverables.

Essential Duties:

• Manages a team of SFMTA engineers assigned to the project, including vehicle engineers, electrical engineers, and traffic engineers;
• Responsible to the Project Manager for ensuring the train control system design meets the project objectives as well as applicable SFMTA, state, local and federal design standards;
• Acts as the lead SFMTA design authority for the project, provides technical review and recommendation to the Project Manager for approval/acceptance of project CDRLs;
• As assigned by the Project Manager, represents the SFMTA in reviewing, approving and auditing technical submittals provided by the Supplier and other project contractors;
• Leads the SFMTA technical team during project design reviews and prepares technical comments on behalf of the SFMTA;
• Reviews all technical documents and correspondence from the Train Control System Supplier and other project contractors;
• Prepares and supervises staff and project Consultants in the preparation of documents, including technical specifications, engineering reports, contract documents, advertisement for bids, instructions to potential bidders, detailed project specifications, technical manuals, and contract bonds;
• Assists Project Manager in negotiating contracts and contract modifications;
• Responds to technical RFIs, resolves clarifications from vendors and addresses their requests by issuing addendums;
• Works with the Technical Program Manager and Technology Department engineers on communications infrastructure design and technical coordination between the Supplier and supportive infrastructure installers;
• Works with Real Estate department, Maintenance of Way staff, facilities project team and engineers on ensuring SFMTA facilities are prepared for train control equipment installation;

Minimum Qualification:

1. Seven (7) years of verifiable professional electrical engineering work experience of which four (4) years of that experience must be as a licensed professional engineer. Two (2) of the seven (7) years must be equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco class 5241 Engineer; AND
2. Possession of a baccalaureate degree with major course work in engineering; AND
3. Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer (Electrical) in the State of California.

Substitution:

• A Master's Degree in Engineering may substitute for one-year work experience.

Under general direction of the Senior Electric and Water System Operators:
• Initiates, issues and validates switching orders and electrical clearances for planned and unplanned work including work carried out on protection schemes with the goal of restoring power to all impacted customers, or facilitating work to be carried on the 12kV System and above in a safe, reliable and efficient manner in accordance with the department procedures
• Receives, troubleshoots, prioritizes and dispatches appropriate personnel and equipment for all non 911 emergency and non emergency calls for the electric system during business hours and for the electric, water, storm sewer, streets, traffic lights and any other City services during non business hours
• Monitors Water & Sewer (SCADA) to detect abnormal conditions; performs operations or adjustments to correct such abnormalities or refers the problem to specialized maintenance personnel

All changes are to be validated by operators on subsequent shifts based on departmental standards and established practices

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is a department of the City and County of San Francisco responsible for the management of all ground transportation in the City. The SFMTA has oversight over the Municipal Railway (Muni) public transit, as well as bicycling, paratransit, parking, traffic, walking, and taxis.

The Transit Division is currently in the process of developing and procuring a new train control system, as well as streamlining operations at the new Transportation Management Center (TMC). The Program Delivery and Support Unit within the Transit Division was created in 2018 to oversee capital program and project budgets, manage vehicle and onboard equipment projects, testing and acceptance of rolling stock and technology projects. These projects will deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions which improve safety and the Agency’s ability to deliver quality transit service. The Train Control Upgrade Project is an 8-year, multimillion dollar project with the goal of modernizing the existing Automatic Train Control System in Muni’s subway as well as expanding the supervision and limited control aspects of a Communication-Based Train Control System to the entire Muni light rail system.

Under the general direction of the Train Control Upgrade Project Manager, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will lead the integration of the new train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will be responsible for the successful design, fitment, and testing of all onboard equipment necessary to fully install the system on the LRV4 fleet and will represent the SFMTA in all project review and discussion related to onboard equipment installation.

The Train Control Upgrade Project will be delivered through a series of contracts with the technology vendor and other firms providing installation, construction support, technical expertise, and professional services. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will coordinate the design activities related to onboard vehicle equipment between the supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer. The Vehicle Train Control Engineer will work closely with these three parties to ensure that the delivery and installation of onboard train control equipment is completed according to the project schedule. The position will participate in the development of an installation plan to facilitate this process and assist with the selection, training, monitoring, evaluating, and development of project staff, as it relates to the installation of the system on the LRV4 fleet.

In addition, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will act as the SFMTA representative to review, accept, or when necessary, audit, project submittals and deliverables provided by the supplier and other project contractors as it relates to the installation of onboard equipment. As the SFMTA representative, the Vehicle Train Control Engineer will have a strong understanding of the project contract requirements and be able to identify key project staff and agency stakeholders for review when evaluating submittals and project deliverables.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties:

• Oversees the successful integration of the train control system with the Siemens LRV4 vehicles, including design, fitment, and testing.
• Leads a team of SFMTA vehicle engineers assigned to the project.
• Coordinates the design activities of the Train Control System Supplier with the car manufacturer (Siemens) and the vehicle onboard equipment installer.
• Represents SFMTA during technical discussions between the Train Control System Supplier, the vehicle manufacturer, and the onboard equipment installer.
