PART-TIME RECREATION LEADER II/III
Recreation Division – Adaptive Program

Program hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from approximately 2:30 pm – 5:15 pm; additional evening and weekend hours as needed.

Level II - $16.97/hour     -   Level III - $18.04 – $21.24/hour

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders II/III assigned to the Adaptive Program. The main goal of the City of Gilroy’s Recreation Division is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents. 
 
Under direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader II/III will assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program area focus is Adaptive (Special Needs), but you might be asked to support another recreation area.

 When assigned to the Adaptive Program, the leader will have an opportunity to have hands-on experience working with a special needs population.  Disabilities of participants vary in range from non-communicative to diminished motor skills to severe autism.  The position will report to an experienced staff member.  As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.

Under direct supervision of the Recreation Specialist, Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining safety in and around swimming pools. Lifeguards will be expected to conduct rescue operations, administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) in emergency situations, attend in service trainings, interact professionally and communicate effectively with swimmers of all ages and the general public, write reports, check in patrons, and organize pool equipment for all aquatic programs.

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with Recreation Specialist. Employees may be requested to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.  

Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 15 years old. (Work permit will be required under 18 years of age)
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid preferred.
• Proof of a negative Tuberculosis (TB) test or the certification form is required prior to employment date

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Pool Service Technician for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for someone to perform a wide variety of duties related to maintaining the City’s Aquatics facilities, pools, water slides and property. Swimming experience is desired. Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an interview either in person, or via ZOOM. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

• Applicants should be able to work at least 12-20 hours per week, year-round, including weekends and holidays, with mandatory trainings. 
• Please note that shift preference is not guaranteed and is based on the program's staffing needs and can change at any time. Please keep this in mind when/if you plan to attend school.

Lead Facilities Attendants are expected to oversee Facility Attendant staff, supporting ongoing training, communication, and tracking of facility rentals, as well as speak and respond to rental related needs/ issues.   This is a part-time, year-round position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Set up and take down tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, and other related material and equipment.
• Greet public and provide general information for all Recreation department classes, programs, and events.
• Daily janitorial/maintenance duties such as routine and special cleaning of restrooms, community center rooms (i.e. wipe counters, vacuum floors, sweep walkways, empty trash receptacles, replace paper products and litter pick-up).
• Monitors guest activities in the community center and enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures for the entire Community Center.
• Occasionally assist with the coordination and execution of Department-sponsored outdoor events or classes.
• Maintain records and reports as required.
• Enforce all rules, regulations and safety principals. 
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to take the lead in completing assignments when working with a partner or on a team. 
• Respond professionally to emergencies, provide care as indicated under the scope of training.

The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.
