THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for a special individual to serve as a Bilingual Clinical Therapist I/II for the Children’s Full Service Partnership/Children and Transitional Age Youth (FSP/ C TAY). • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent based on courses taken from an accredited educational institution.  
• Associate of Arts degree preferred AND five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, including commercial inspection and/or plan check experience, of which at least two (2) years must be at the full journey level or above.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

Both Positions: Maintain a Valid CA driver’s license.

 

Deputy Building Official

Must maintain ICC certification in at least three of the following areas: commercial building inspector, combination building inspector, electrical inspector, plumbing inspector or mechanical inspector.  These certifications are required at time of hire. In addition, Plans Examiner certification from ICC is required, but may be obtained within 6 months of hire. 

 

Senior Building Inspector

 Building Inspector certification from International Code Council (ICC) or equivalent is required. CASP certification is highly desirable. Possession of a Commercial Building Inspector or Building Plans Examiner certification from ICC is desirable.  Certification as a Commercial Building Inspector must be obtained within one year of appointment as a condition of continued employment.

Under direction, the Senior Civil Engineer, plans, manages, and coordinates the engineering program. The Senior Civil Engineer creates the scope on large civil engineering projects with complex budgets and timelines, integrating numerous elements that significant stakeholder involvement and sensitivity. This position provides direction and mentorship to more junior staff and oversees both technical and administrative work performed by their staff and ensures that projects are completed efficiently and effectively for the public good. Informing the public and Board of Supervisors, selecting consultants, preparing contract documents, reviewing project plans and specifications prepared by consultants, and administering contracts during construction are performed by the Senior Civil Engineer. 

Signing bonus:
In addition to a competitive compensations package, new, full-time, regular hire Senior Civil Engineers are eligible to receive a $10,000 signing bonus which will be split into two equal payments: 50% at time of hire (i.e. first paycheck) and the remaining 50% after successful completion of their probationary period.

Hybrid schedule:
The Department of Public Works has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely. Required Hours and Location

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist and execute projects assigned by the Chief of Developed Resources
• Communicate frequently and cordially with other staff and follow up on

unanswered inquiries in a professional manner.

•  Independently compose a variety of documents which may include confidential

material, including general correspondence, agendas, staff reports, and
memoranda.

• Keep a variety of reports updated on an ongoing basis, including status of

specific operations, crew activities, volunteer data, and other items as needed.

• Set up meetings and video-conference calls, including notifying participants,

reserving sites/times, providing support materials, and preparing conference
room and equipment.

• Demonstrate good habits of answering and responding to incoming telephone

calls, correspondence, and when communicating and providing customer service
to citizens who seek assistance.

• Maintain positive relationships with coworkers, representatives of other government agencies, non-profit organizations, homeowner’s associations, and the public at large.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds inside the office. MRCA offices are spread among multiple buildings and floors and may require traveling up/down steps.

Required Hours and Location

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work in evenings or weekends upon prior approval by supervisor. The position will work out of the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens but may occasionally be required to travel to various other locations. Offices at the River Center are spread among multiple buildings and floors. Remote working or a hybrid schedule may be allowed, subject to supervisor approval.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the essential functions. Education and Experience 

• High School Diploma or equivalent. 
• One (1) year performing clerical duties.

• Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to complete within 6 months).

Knowledge of: 

• Intermediate proficiency with Office 365 and email, with particular emphasis on word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
• Use of Adobe Sign to gather signatures and compile documentation, or ability to learn immediately. 
• Proficiency in basic mathematics, as applied to expense reports and timesheets .
• Office practices and procedures. 
• Bilingual skills in English and another locally common language, such as Spanish, Korean, Farsi, Chinese, Armenian, Yiddish, or Tagalog is desired.

Ability to:

• Prioritize varying tasks and projects, manage time, and make regular, consistent progress on multiple projects at once.
• Handle confidential information according to procedures. 
• Cooperate with coworkers and revise project approach as needed to accommodate concerns.

Other Requirements

Candidates must have a valid California driver's license in good standing with a satisfactory driving record. Employees must be willing to participate in agency emergency response.

Wages:

The range of hourly rates for an Administrative Assistant I is $19.01-$23.10.
