The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time Recreation Specialist position in the Recreation Department for their sports program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implement a wide range of programs that foster community development that include youth/adult sports, special events, open gym, and youth development activities.  This position will require assistance of general office duties and may include supervision of volunteers and staff, and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is established for 19 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

CLASS INSTRUCTOR 

 

DEFINITION

Under the direction of a Community Services Coordinator, the Class Instructor is responsible for implementing and coordinating all aspects of a specific instruction class, including meeting the program objectives, and overseeing program participants.  This is a part-time, at-will, hourly position without City-paid benefits. This recruitment will be for Summer Sports camps, summer special events or Classes.  Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays.     

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

• Responsible for class participants from class beginning to end. 
• Open, set-up, and close class facility.
• Create, plan, instruct, and promote activities of assigned instruction class(es).
• Develop and write a class proposal.
• Meet program goals and objectives, collect and maintain attendance records and data.
• Responsible for maintaining on-site security and safety of participants, volunteers, staff and others in the facility.

Upon graduation, the successful trainee will be transitioned to a Field Training Officer program with the Mill Valley Police Department and promoted to Step 1 Police Officer (probationary) with full benefits. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Police Officer Trainee position enables an incumbent to attend a local law enforcement academy and earn their POST (California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training) certificate of academy completion while enjoying the support and mentorship of our agency, and receiving compensation. Through the academy and certification process, the successful incumbent will become eligible for promotion to Police Officer and immediate transition into MVPD's Field Training Program.

Salary Range

The Assistant Director salary range is currently $178, 713.34 - $288, 700.62. Placement within this range will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the individual selected. While on duty, Teen Aide may be responsible for check-in and check-out of participants, oversee an in-house snack bar, and facilitate set-up of the Teen Zone game room (including setting up video games, ping pong table, quiet homework spaces, and more). Light cleaning duties will be expected.

The City of San Rafael Library and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the position of Facilities Attendant (Athletic Fields).    This position is responsible for supervision of athletic fields during assigned work hours while providing a positive and welcoming presence at the park.  The Facilities Attendant serves as an ambassador to park visitors, ensuring renters have access to their permitted spaces, unlocking soccer goals as needed, and promoting responsible use of the facility.  The Facilities Attendant also positively enforces park and field rules, encourages users to clean up after themselves, and helps to maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all.  Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.

The City of Mill Valley is pleased to welcome applications for Maintenance Worker II - Streets.

As a Maintenance Worker II in our Streets Division, you will help keep Mill Valley’s streets and infrastructure safe, functional, and looking their best. Working under general supervision, you will take on a range of skilled and hands-on tasks including paving, concrete work, storm drain cleaning, and street repair.

Your day might include operating construction equipment, mixing and pouring concrete for sidewalks or curbs, clearing debris from storm drains ahead of the rainy season, or resurfacing a neighborhood street. You will also help direct traffic around work zones, respond to emergency repair needs, and may lead small crews on specific assignments.

This is active, outdoor work that requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and a strong sense of pride in public service. You will work across the city’s neighborhoods and infrastructure, helping maintain the streets and public right-of-ways that residents and visitors rely on every day.

Examples of essential duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

• Operates and conducts essential maintenance using power-driven street and construction machinery, encompassing auxiliary equipment like gravel spreaders. Tasks include surface preparation for paving, cement mixing, pavement demolition, and operation of concrete cutting equipment.

• Loads, transports and unloads stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, timber and other materials.

• Clean storm drains.

• Performs concrete work.

• Directs traffic, erects barricades and traffic signs.

• Participates in constructing or resurfacing streets with permanent paving materials.

• Leads small crews in performing of specific tasks.

• Cleans and cares for tools and equipment and responds to emergency calls.
