Law enforcement, criminal investigation, patrol, traffic, crime prevention, and other public safety duties are provided by the Mill Valley Police Department under the direction of Police Chief Ignacio R. Navarro.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work; to control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations; to perform investigative work; to participate in and provide support and assistance to special department crime prevention and enforcement programs. This is the entry level classification in the professional police series requiring sworn peace officer status.

Examples of Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

•  Patrol the City in radio-equipped car or on foot.
•  Answer calls for the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of city, county, and state laws.
• Conduct both preliminary and follow-up investigations of disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, hold-ups, vehicle accidents, death, and other criminal incidents.
• Patrol the City and respond to calls related to traffic incidents and any other required emergencies.
• Observe, monitor, and control routine and unusual traffic conditions.
• Assist and advise motorists and enforce traffic safety laws.
• Make arrests as necessary.
• Interview victims, complainants, and witnesses.
• Interrogate suspects; gather and preserve evidence.

Maintenance Worker 2 - Street Maintenance Division

Salary: $37.60 - $47.99 Hourly

The City of Sunnyvale is excited to announce an opportunity for dedicated individuals to fill (2) regular full-time Maintenance Worker 2 positions in the Street Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. This position plays a key role in supporting the upkeep of the City's streets and traffic safety-related infrastructure. We are seeking dependable, detail-oriented individuals with strong customer service skills to join our team.

Responsibilities include performing a range of semi-skilled and manual labor tasks, such as repairing and maintaining traffic signs, applying roadway striping, installing pavement markings, and removing graffiti. These positions also perform traffic control, completing asphalt and minor concrete repairs, and carrying out other right-of-way maintenance duties as needed.

SENIOR BUILDING INSPECTOR

Salary: $58.52 - $74.69 Hourly

The City of Sunnyvale is hiring (1) full-time Senior Building Inspector in the Department of Community Development.

Sunnyvale is a dynamic city in the heart of Silicon Valley. Construction activities continue to grow with a wide range of project types, including tech manufacturing, hazardous occupancies, single-family residential, and multistory mixed-use, multifamily, and commercial buildings.

This position shares the responsibility of supervising 9 experienced inspectors with another Senior Building Inspector. The Building Division is a cohesive and supportive unit that helps each other navigate code compliance and enforcement issues.

An Associate's degree or 60 semester units or 90 quarter units in engineering technology, architecture, construction management or related field; AND
Four years of professional, full-time experience as a building inspector with a public agency,

OR

Graduation from high school or tested equivalent; AND
Four years of professional, full-time experience as a building inspector with a public agency and two years as a licensed general contractor.

Licenses/Certificates:
Possession at time of hire and continued maintenance of a valid Class C California driver's license and a safe driving record.
Possession and continued maintenance of ICC Certifications:  Building Inspector (B1 and B2), Electrical Inspector (E1 and E2), Plumbing Inspector (P1 and P2), and Mechanical Inspector (M1 and M2).

PART-TIME LIBRARIAN I/LIBRARY ASSISTANT I

The Mill Valley Public Library is looking for a part-time librarian who is passionate about public service, shows initiative, and has a strong work ethic to work the adult reference desk. This is a great opportunity to get experience in reference work and assisting patrons with their needs. You will work in a very fast-paced, collaborative environment.  

ESTIMATED NUMBER OF HOURS:

Will work at least one shift per week with additional sub hours available. Applicant must be able to work Saturday (9:15am - 5:15pm) and/or Sunday (11:30am - 5pm) and one weeknight until 8pm. 

Salary: $24.77 - $41.04/hour depending on experience and education.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Staffing the Adult Reference Desk is the primary responsibility of this position. A knowledge of literature or the desire to read widely is essential in making book recommendations and understanding types of computers and assisting with technology troubleshooting is crucial. The Mill Valley Library is fast-paced and innovative; the person in this position needs to learn new skills quickly, adapt easily to change, be detail-oriented, and patron focused. Many part-time staff are cross trained to work in other Library departments as needed.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Provide reference services including readers’ advisory. 
• Provide excellent customer service to all patrons with consistency and in line with library policies.
• Assist patrons troubleshooting technological issues on both library computers and personal devices.
• Help with programming as needed.
• Additional duties based on interests and demonstrated quality of work.
