The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time Recreation Specialist position in the Recreation Department for their sports program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implement a wide range of programs that foster community development that include youth/adult sports, special events, open gym, and youth development activities.  This position will require assistance of general office duties and may include supervision of volunteers and staff, and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is established for 19 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

CLASS INSTRUCTOR 

 

DEFINITION

Under the direction of a Community Services Coordinator, the Class Instructor is responsible for implementing and coordinating all aspects of a specific instruction class, including meeting the program objectives, and overseeing program participants.  This is a part-time, at-will, hourly position without City-paid benefits. This recruitment will be for Summer Sports camps, summer special events or Classes.  Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays.     

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

• Responsible for class participants from class beginning to end. 
• Open, set-up, and close class facility.
• Create, plan, instruct, and promote activities of assigned instruction class(es).
• Develop and write a class proposal.
• Meet program goals and objectives, collect and maintain attendance records and data.
• Responsible for maintaining on-site security and safety of participants, volunteers, staff and others in the facility.

The Positions

Building Maintenance Workers (HVAC) design, fabricate, inspect, install, troubleshoot and evaluate problems with HVAC equipment.  They also repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related apparatus. Additionally, they install, repair and/or replace controls for energy management system as well as perform preventive maintenance and sheet metal work, including design and fabrication.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is also seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide general maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Maintenance tasks for the general assignment typically include painting, electrical repairs, wall repair, roof repair, carpentry/metal work, and floor repair.

THE POSITION: This limited term position supports the Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) in the Police Department to strengthen and enhance services provided to Hayward families to keep youth positively engaged in the community and out of the juvenile justice system. The Lead Program Assistant works with YSFB mental health counselors to provide case management, life skills training, diversion, restorative justice, and other services.
The limited term position is dependent on ongoing funding for the program. Funding has already been secured through FY2026 (June 30, 2026) with the possibility of an extension or permanent funding in FY 2027.

The Lead Program Assistant is a Citywide classification; current vacancies exist in the Police Department however future citywide vacancies may be filled from this recruitment. You are:

THE POSITION:

This is a division head management position at the Hayward Executive Airport, reporting to the Airport Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the management of the business and accounting functions at the airport and provides second-line supervision and direction of staff within the Airport Division. This position is distinguished from the Airport Operations Supervisor classification which is responsible for the direct supervision of staff performance of Airside and Landside operations and maintenance tasks at the airport.
