The salary ranges for the Analyst I/II classifications are:

Analyst I: $ $89,849.76 - $109,200.00

Analyst II: $ $98,039.76 - $119,159.04

All ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The San Jose Public Library is currently seeking to fill one (1) Analyst I/II vacancy that will report to a Senior Analyst of the Finance and Business Services (FBS) Unit.

The positions’ duties and its responsibilities would include, but would not be limited to, the following:

• Management and oversight of the Library ‘s operating budget, including but not limited to, accurate tracking and monitoring of expenditures and revenues, maintaining precise financial records, performing calculations and forecasting, organizing and analyzing data, and making actionable insights and recommendations.
• Prepares various reports and memos; assembles and analyzes data; summarizes findings; proposes or suggests appropriate actions including reallocation of resources; works cross-departmentally to facilitate fiscal and budget requests.
• Providing support and expertise in the development and administration of all fiscal and accounting related activities, including payroll, accounts billable/payable, procurement and contract/grants. Review and approve financial transactions, purchase orders, and awarded contracts to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and funding guidelines.

• Evaluates and prepares recommendations on fiscal management; prepares and revises policy and procedures; develops instructional materials; designs and maintains monitoring system for fiscal processes; provides training to project managers and unit leads and assists in the implementation of improved systems or organization.

• Produce timely and accurate monthly and ad hoc budget and fiscal reports for budget and expenditure tracking for Library project managers and Library management.

San José Public Library(SJPL) is recruiting a Senior Librarian to join the Library's Public Engagement Division as the Web Services Manager. This position will help shape, maintain, and enhance the Library’s digital presence and web-based platforms, including:

The Web Services Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all web-related matters and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and performance of the Library’s web infrastructure. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting web issues, ensuring accessibility, and security compliance.

This position will supervise a team of two full-time and one part-time staff members, and will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, Library leadership, external partners, and vendors to ensure seamless integration and functionality across platforms.

In addition, the Web Services Manager will also actively participate in the City’s Digital Privacy and Artificial Intelligence Working Groups, and up hold Library privacy and ethics standards. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Serve as project manager and technical subject matter expert for all web-related initiatives

• Lead the team in developing and maintaining engaging, accessible, and user-friendly digital content

• Collaborate with the Library’s Marketing and Communications Unit to align web content with SJPL’s branding, public awareness campaigns, and strategic initiatives

• Oversee compliance with ADA standards, digital and data privacy, readability, and language access

• Conduct regular audits of website content, performance, and security, as well accessibility and usability testing

• Perform scheduled website maintenance and updates 

• Analyze and report on web analytics to inform improvements and enhance user engagement utilizing Google Analytics and Looker Studio

• Stay up to date with emerging digital and technology trends relevant to libraries and public sector

• Develop and manage websites, web applications, and custom code

Position Duties

The Division Manager position will supervise and oversee the ongoing operation of a cross-departmental team that is charged with implementing the City’s Broadband Permitting program, as well as the Library’s Digital Empowerment and Public Technology division. This position serves as the lead for the City’s Broadband and Telecommunications Partnerships and reports to the Deputy Director of Public Services. To implement the citywide Broadband strategy the Division Manager will work directly with the staff and supervisors of assigned staff from other departments to ensure that the citywide Digital Empowerment workplan and project timelines are properly prioritized, integrated, and strategically aligned whenever possible. In addition to overseeing the citywide Broadband and Telecommunications Partnerships Unit, the Division Manager will direct the work of Library’s Information Technology Team, Digital Equity and Empowerment Unit, and the Library Data & Analytics team. This work includes:

• Multi-departmental coordination and management of several specialized programs;

• Budget administration and reporting across complex local, state, federal, and special funding sources, with close coordination to the City’s Finance team;

• Preparing and presenting reports and information to the City Council, City Council Committees, Library and Education Commission, and external stakeholder groups;

• Providing direct oversight or coordination of vendor contracts that are effectuated across City departments;

• Oversight of Library central service units: Information Technology, Data & Analytics, and Digital Empowerment;

• Ensure timely service delivery and workplan alignment of all Library units;

• Oversight of project management and implementation of all units;

• Engagement and leadership within city and industry-specific working groups to ensure technology protocols and best practices are integrated into project roadmaps, with substantial focus on cybersecurity;

• Liaise with San Jose State University on the operation of jointly held technology services at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library;

• Guidance and oversight of the Digital Empowerment theory of change and programmatic functions;

• Oversight of the Digital Inclusion Fund and the SJ Access Grant Program;

• Oversight of the communications strategy using website, social media, and media;

• Oversight of related community engagement and feedback sessions;

• Analysis and communications work to advance City advocacy efforts regarding state and federal broadband infrastructure funding, including all related competitive grants.

The position will also be responsible for ongoing development of new Citywide multi-departmental responses to the Digital Equity need, establishing the framework and recommendations and supporting City leadership in decision-making about program options, resources, and community engagement.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Civil Engineer or an Engineer II (dependent on qualifications) for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. In this exciting opportunity the incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping infrastructure and overseeing key projects vital to the growth and development of the City of Gilroy. This position offers a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic planning making it an ideal role an engineering professional looking to make tangible differences in the lives of the Gilroy residents.

 The Senior Civil Engineer will work under the direction of the City Engineer and/or the Public Works Director and is afforded the authority and discretion to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Section. The Senior Civil Engineer classification is an exempt, mid-management level position. 

The Engineer II will play a critical role in designing, managing and delivering Capital Improvement projects that improve essential city infrastructure. From planning and budgeting to implementation, your work will positively affect thousands of residents daily, supporting the city’s mission to create a safe, connected, and vibrant community. Although this position is dedicated to CIP, in order to appropriately respond to community needs, the Engineer II may also provide support to the Land Development and Transportation engineering sections, so adaptability and flexibility are keys to success in this position. This position may also represent the City in community meetings and hearings, meetings with project stakeholders, and serve on regional committees as applicable.

The Engineer II is a journey-level position that will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Engineer or City Engineer and will perform professional engineering work in the field and office. Pipeline public projects include completion of the Civic Center Master Plan, design and bid of the new Santa Teresa Fire Station, a $7 million pavement rehabilitation project, a $3 million San Ysidro Park remodel project, and completion of Traffic Impact Fee Study. The City is processing multiple large private projects including an almost one million square foot Amazon data center as well as multiple residential subdivisions and multi-family projects.

The Department:

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City of Santa Clara. The Santa Clara City Library operates three facilities, a virtual branch through a website, and a bookmobile. The Library provides a collection of virtual and physical books and resources, services and programs, public internet access, adult literacy and English as Second Language classes for the Santa Clara community. Services and programs are free and open to all.

The Position:

The Santa Clara City Library is seeking an enthusiastic and community-oriented Librarian with a strong public service commitment at the Mission Branch Library. This Librarian will provide library service, information, and programming for all ages, and may be responsible of the branch in-lieu of more senior staff. Constant contact and collaboration with patrons of all ages, including those with diverse backgrounds and abilities, are part of the daily duties of this position.  

This is a limited-term appointment of 30-40 hours/week for up to 6 months. As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Recreation Coordinator, Performing Arts Unit, Community Recreation Center

The Performing Arts Unit offers year-round programming in theater, dance, music, and choir, led by a team of contract instructors and part-time staff. One of our cornerstone offerings is the Youth Theater Program—now in its 55th year—which stages four full-scale productions annually. Recreation Coordinator, Active Older Adults, Senior Center

The Senior Center serves a thriving community of over 1,000 members and welcomes hundreds of visitors each day for both drop-in and fee-based programs.  This classified position is responsible for coordinating programs within a specific recreation program (Performing Arts; Youth Development; Sports & Aquatics; Older Adults & Special Populations, Enrichment, or Marketing & Communications).  The position may also be responsible for conducting administrative and promotional duties for community-wide activities or events in a specific recreation program. The incumbent may be required to oversee a specific recreation facility, perform routine program development or oversight, and take specific responsibility for the coordination of as-needed staff and contract employees. Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Recreation, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Tourism, Leisure & Event Planning, Social Science, Kinesiology, or closely related field; and
• Two (2) years of full-time paid experience coordinating a recreation program, including the supervision of recreation leadership personnel.  These two (2) years may be a combination of full-time, part-time, or internship experience (2,000 hours of part-time and/or internship experience are equivalent to one (1) year of full-time work experience).

For Aquatics Program:

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in various aquatics programs and in aquatic environment emergency response.

Possible Substitution for Education:

• Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. and five (5) years of additional paid full-time experience in the supervision of recreation personnel in a public recreation setting may be substituted for the college graduation requirement.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with program budgeting and program marketing is highly desirable; and
• Experience using recreation registration software program is desirable.

LICENSE(S) AND/OR CERTIFICATION(S)

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment; and
• CPR and First Aid is required within six (6) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.

For Aquatics Program:

• Title 22 First Aid and CPR certification are required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment; and
• Lifeguard Training Certificate and Lifeguard Training Instructor Certificate are required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with program budgeting and program marketing is highly desirable;
• Experience using recreation registration software program is desirable; and
• When assigned to the Aquatics Program, Water Safety Instructor Certifications or other recognized Swim Lesson Instruction Certification is desirable. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• May be required to work evening shifts, weekends, and unusual hours to meet program and event requirements; and
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Recreation Coordinator is an advanced journey level classification responsible for coordinating programs for a specified recreation program or recreation facility. Incumbents regularly work on complex tasks that require discretion and independent judgement. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver services. The Recreation Coordinator differs from the lateral classification of Recreation Coordinator - Therapeutics in that the lateral classification specializes in therapeutics programs, whereas, the Recreation Coordinator performs general recreation work. The Recreation Coordinator is distinguished from the higher-level classification of Recreation Supervisor in that the later primarily performs supervisory functions over recreation programs, facilities, events, and/or parks and supervises full-time personnel. 

Candidates must attain a passing score on each phase of the examination process to qualify for the Eligible List. A department interview may be required prior to appointment.

ABOUT THE POSITION
If you are passionate about ensuring quality and safety in engineering projects and want to make a real difference in the community, we have an excellent opportunity for you. The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting a full-time Engineering Technician/Inspector at level I or II or III (depending on experience and qualifications) for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The position will support the engineering staff with technical tasks for public works improvements, public works projects, and land development projects, and will entail a mix of technician and inspection duties. The goal of the Engineering Division is to promote a better quality of life for those who live, work, and visit the city of Gilroy through the provision of efficient engineering services and the creation of orderly growth and development within the city.

EXAMPLES OF ONGOING PROJECTS

• Provide inspection support to various Capital Improvement Projects, to include water and wastewater projects. 
• Coordinate inspection efforts with consultants and outside agencies.
• Process and review various public works permits.
• Administer the Sidewalk Repair Program.

NOTE: To foster teamwork and collaboration in the department, organization-wide, and in the community, this full-time position works on-site/in-person. Remote work is not an available option.
