The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of Public Safety Dispatcher with an energetic and highly motivated individual who possesses excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.

 
Under general supervision of the Senior Public Safety Dispatcher, processes emergency and non-emergency calls for service; dispatches police, fire, medical, rescue, animal control or other emergency equipment, by telephone or radio, utilizing complex technical aids, such as computer aided dispatch systems (CAD); and performs related work as required.

The minimum qualifications required for this position are - Graduation from high school or tested equivalent; and Two years of experience dispatching police and/or fire services for a public safety agency utilizing contemporary dispatching technical tools, including computer aided dispatching systems; or successful completion of probation as a Public Safety Dispatcher-in-Training with the City of Sunnyvale.

Share your passion by teaching students! Enrichment instructors lead a one hour class on-site after school. Enjoy the freedom to plan a curriculum on your area of expertise and share that knowledge with a class size of 5-15 students.

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply for this position.

DEFINITION: Plan, organize and execute personal curriculum for elementary age children for a one hour onsite outdoor enrichment program. Program hours could include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2pm – 4pm and Wednesday 1:15pm – 3:15pm, preparation hours can be discussed.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with schools, parents, and children.
• Possess strong leadership skills in their chosen area of expertise
• Create and implement your own curriculum within an allocated budget
• Manage the task of checking in and checking out each child to the proper guardian.
• Encourage good behavior and appropriate manners.
• Encourage active participation and provide a safe and nurturing environment.
• Implement and lead appropriate activities for elementary aged children.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of the children during enrichment.
• Motivate participants through example.
• Create and maintain a positive after school environment.
• Accurately maintain attendance records.
• Practice proper hygiene, with self and children, to deter the spread of disease (colds, flu, etc).
• Render first aid in case of minor injuries.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.

The City of Sunnyvale is accepting applications for the Regular, Full-Time Maintenance Worker 2 position with five current vacancies in the Water Distribution Division (4) and Sewer and Storm Division (1) in the Environmental Services Department.

The Maintenance Worker 2 will perform a broad range of duties in the basic construction and maintenance trades. This position generally works as a member of a crew, but may be given independent assignments and may, under direction, lead a small crew of trainees or temporary workers and assist with training. This position is subject to callback for after-hour emergencies and after hours on-call/standby duty.

HOUSING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES MANAGER

The salary range listed above reflects the full compensation potential for this position. However, initial salary placement will typically be at the front end of the range and will not exceed 97% of the range maximum. Placement within the range will be based on the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. Progression through the range may occur over time, subject to continued service, good performance evaluations, and the City’s administrative policies.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City is recruiting for a full-time Housing and Community Services Manager (HCSM) to advance and strengthen the City’s efforts in affordable housing production and preservation, homelessness response, tenant protections, and coordination of supportive services for vulnerable community members. Since the creation of the Housing and Community Services Division, it has become a key part of the City’s strategy to address city-wide housing challenges. This leadership position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on housing accessibility, homelessness response, and community well-being in Gilroy. 

Under the general direction of the Community Development Director, the HCSM will plan, direct, and oversee the operations and programs of the Housing and Community Services Division and provide leadership and oversight of the development and administration of housing programs and grant-funded initiatives that support long-term housing affordability and stability for residents, including unhoused and at-risk populations. Working collaboratively with public agencies, nonprofit organizations, regional partners, and community stakeholders, the HCSM will help implement innovative housing solutions and advance strategic initiatives aligned with City goals and community priorities.

This position is an exempt, mid-management level position that must exercise competent discretion and judgement in the performance of duties and interactions with others. This position will be included with the Gilroy Management Association employee group.
