The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently seeking Extra-Help and Full-Time Animal Care Technicians, in an effort to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list.  Under general supervision, Animal Care Technicians assist in the daily maintenance, feeding and care of animals housed in the county’s animal care facility including those subject to quarantine, injured or ill; assist with euthanizations; provide information to the public regarding lost or stray animals; assist with licensing, pet adoptions and community volunteer programs; and perform related work as assigned.  This class is a working level class in the animal care series. 

Animal Care Services is a division of the Sheriff's Department.  Animal Care Services provides services for the unincorporated areas of Yuba County and is located in Olivehurst, California.  Animal Care Services care for lost animals, injured and abandon animals, and a provide variety of services that protect both citizens and animals. Most importantly, they keep lost pets safe and happy so they can be reunited with their owner or adopted into a new family.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
•  Feed, water and care for all animals housed in the animal care facility according to schedules 
and feeding instructions; identify, vaccinate and impound stray animals.
•  Evaluate animal temperament; place animals in appropriate kennels within shelter facility based 
on species, condition and level of observation required.
•  Monitor and observe animals for signs of illness or injury, notify appropriate personnel and 
assist with medical care.
•  Assist with euthanizations and dispose of animals in a humane and prescribed method and in 
accordance with established policies and California laws; handle animal carcasses.
•  Assist with bathing and grooming of animals; clean and disinfect cages, equipment and all other 
areas at the shelter, as necessary.
•  Collect, record and complete forms regarding care, such as weight, size, physical 
condition,
disposition, treatments received and medications given and food intake.
 

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Social Worker Supervisor III in the Child and Adult Protective Services division of the Health and Human Services Department. Under general supervision this position plans, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews and evaluates the work of Social Workers assigned to adult and child protective services; oversees and performs social services case work of a complex and difficult nature in providing a variety of social services to County residents; performs case work of varying scope and complexity and may provide program leadership and consultative services; responsible for program planning and implementation as well as performance of the most complex work and the full range of work supervised on a relief or overflow basis and performs other duties as assigned. This position is the specialized supervisory professional level in the social worker series and reports directly to a Health and Human Services Program Manager.

Examples of Duties:

• Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of various levels of professional social work staff in the area of adult and child protective services.
• Provide direction and coaching, through regular feedback sessions; create individual development plans with employees, discuss job performance problems to identify causes and issues, and work on resolving problems; and offer advice and assistance as needed.
• Recommend and administer discipline and implement discipline procedures as needed/directed.
• Recommend selection of staff; provide or coordinate staff training and provide for their professional development.
• Interpret regulations and rules to staff; provide for consistency of staff interpretation and application of such rules and regulations.
• Provide technical assistance to staff regarding difficult case problems.
• Prepare and modifies procedures related to assigned activities; inform staff of such changes.
• Perform the full range of professional work, often in difficult or complex circumstances.
• Interview and counsel a diverse population referred for services; handle the most complex and sensitive child welfare services cases.

The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help applications for the position of Correctional Technician within the Probation Department - Youth Detention Facilities and the Sheriff's Department - Jail Division. Working under general supervision, the Correctional Technician is responsible for operating and monitoring video and audio systems to maintain the safety and security of inmates, juveniles, and staff within the secure detention areas. Additional responsibilities include performing various technical and clerical tasks related to the intake and release process for the County's Jail system, and juveniles at the Tri-County Juvenile Hall and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center, inputting relevant data into the booking system, documenting inmate and juvenile observations, providing public reception, access, and assistance as required, and other related duties as assigned.

Essential:

• Process paperwork provided by law enforcement officer or the courts for new inmates or youth; verify information on booking forms; obtain signatures; oversee telephone usage; obtain photographs; inventory and securely process property and money for safekeeping.
• Gather and enter inmate or youth information into computerized booking system; prepare and route computer-generated booking; complete files, logs, charts and other documents associated with jail or juvenile detention facility booking activities.
• Participate in monitoring safety and security of the staff, inmates, juveniles, visitors and facility; notify appropriate staff of any incidents, problems, or suspicious behavior.
• Observe and assess the behavior of inmates or youth from a control room; monitor radio communications; and operate intercom and electronic door controls in routine and emergency conditions.
• Process court paperwork, process discharge paperwork, and enter data into computer system.
• Update manual and automated inmate or youth records and tracking systems.
• Monitor inmates or youth on exercise yard from a controlled area; monitor and document inmates’ or youths’ recreational activities.
• Process and monitor visitors, ascertains nature of business, assist and/or direct visitors to appropriate person, observe visitation, report security violations.

ABOUT THE POSITION: Office Assistant I will receive immediate direction from the Senior Administrative Assistant, with additional direction given by the Business Services Supervisor. They provide a variety of clerical support and perform a wide range of customer service-related tasks in a fast paced, high touch environment. This position requires the ability to multi-task and respond to multiple requests from customers with professionalism and courtesy.

SCHEDULE: Staff will have the schedule flexibility to work weekday, weekend, early morning and evening shifts.  Staff may be asked to cover additional, unscheduled shifts due to absences by other Office Assistants.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an indoor setting working at a terminal keyboard for extended periods of time with the ability to move. at will to and from various points within the Community Center and Aquatics & Fitness Center. Must have ability to communicate orally with the public either in person or via the telephone. Must have ability to produce information in written form and operate office equipment (Computers, scanners, typewriters, calculators, printers, and copiers). It may be necessary to move objects weighing 20 lbs., such as mail, packages, merchandise inventory etc.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Administrative Technician. There is currently a vacancy in the Probation Department. Under general supervision performs technical level administrative, operational, procedural, and/or program related duties in assistance to a County department; researches, collects, and analyzes data and prepares draft reports; performs administrative and technical work of assigned program area; and provides responsible administrative and technical assistance to management; coordinates program activities, assisting with process improvement efforts, preparing a variety of correspondence and reports and performs other duties as assigned. This is the journey para-professional level in the administrative/analytical series.

The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. Emergency Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Emergency Dispatcher series.  It differs from Emergency Dispatcher II in that the II level is fully trained as a dispatcher and may provide training for the Dispatcher I. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Receives incoming calls from the public; determines type of assistance required, including law enforcement, fire or ambulance personnel, etc., and dispatches emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications to appropriate jurisdictions and agencies.
• Operates a law enforcement 911 communications network.
• Maintains radio communications with field personnel as necessary to relay messages and information, and to determine the location and safety of field personnel.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering business telephones; processing and/or maintaining department records, including case files; compiling information and statistics for reports; preparing criminal history reports; entering/cancelling/retrieving data on computer; ordering supplies, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Processes civil, misdemeanor, juvenile and felony warrants.

The County of Glenn is seeking an Assistant Director of Public Works who is a strategic, collaborative, and confident leader with effective communication skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex engineering projects that provide essential services throughout Glenn County. Reporting directly to the Public Works Director, the Assistant Public Works Director will serve as a project manager for a variety of public works and capital improvement projects, including the design and construction of roads, bridges and storm drainage infrastructure.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the Director of Public Works; exercises direct supervision over professional engineering, technical engineering and clerical staff.

• Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and  procedures; identifies opportunities for improvement and reviews recommendations with the Director.

This position performs a variety of para-professional, case management duties, and performs related duties as assigned in the adult and youth and family Mental Health Units, along with providing crisis services. The HHSA Case Manager II is distinguished from the HHSA Case Manager I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned and is responsible for the provision of case management including complex cases. Both levels of this position are responsible for providing direct case management services to clients  The position is located in the Behavioral Health Division at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency and is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Coordinates services with individuals, coordinates activities with other departments, medical providers, social workers, schools and/or other outreach agencies as appropriate to ensure that the needs of the clients are met.
• Receives referrals from the courts, schools, social workers or other individuals or organizations regarding individuals.
• Maintains close, collaborative and cooperative relationships with community agencies, social workers, local law enforcement and other public agencies carrying out treatment and educational plans; provides information to other County departments and agencies.
• Provides case management through individual or group rehab methods for children and/or adults for a variety of health services programs and services.

The County Counsel position, under direction of the Board of Supervisors, serves as principle legal counsel to the County of Glenn; plans, organizes, directs and reviews the functions and  activities for the County Counsel’s Office including advising County departments and employees on legal issues and representing those departments and employees in litigation; establish, monitor, evaluate and revise the office’s goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; coordinate assigned activities with other County departments and outside agencies.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Civil Engineer in the Public Works Division of the Community Development and Services Agency. Under limited supervision, the Senior Civil Engineer will perform the more difficult professional engineering work including the preparation of civil design plans for various Public Works projects, conducting research studies, performing field inspections and testing, analyzing reports, maps, drawings, or geological data, and procuring permits; act as a resource to staff, contracts, consultants, other agencies and the public regarding areas of assignment; provide lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents are fully qualified to perform all duties specified as a Professional Engineer by the State of California. This is the master level in the civil engineer series, and reports directly to Principal Engineer.

Examples of Duties:

• Review plans and inspect projects; provide engineering design and code information and ensure that designs meet accepted industry and legal standards, and projects are biddable and buildable.
• Interpret and explain complex and technical laws, codes and regulations and provide information related to Public Works Engineering activities; may receive and respond to complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
• Initiate and maintain professional relationships with other departments, businesses, local community and professional organizations.
• Provide direction as a lead worker; expected to review the work of professional civil engineers and support staff to ensure compliance with established procedures related to design, construction and inspection of flood control, storm water management, water resources, bridges, parks, roads and other related projects as well as provide input on assigned staff performance to management; provide guidance to professional and technical staff.
