The Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division of San Mateo County Health is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Supervising Mental Health Clinician, to supervise and coordinate the professional work of mental health professionals, paraprofessionals and interns in a geographic or service unit and participate in program planning, administration and evaluation; and provide specialized psychiatric casework counseling and therapeutic services to children and their families within the Prenatal to Three Specialty Team.

 

The current vacancy is in the Mental Health Youth Services, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, Prenatal to Three Program.

 

Prenatal to Three The Pre-Natal to Three (Pre-3) Program provides specialized mental health services for pregnant women, new caregivers, and children ages 0–5 who meet medical necessity criteria for Specialty Mental Health Services. The program is rooted in a trauma-informed and culturally responsive framework, recognizing the critical importance of the earliest years of life in shaping long-term health and development.

 

Pre-3 clinicians deliver direct mental health treatment and case management while also supporting the parent-child relationship through dyadic and family-based approaches. The program partners closely with Children and Family Services, San Mateo Medical Center, Family Health, and community providers to ensure comprehensive care for families navigating complex needs. Collaboration extends to interagency efforts such as the Keller Center and Child Welfare Team, strengthening coordinated systems of support for vulnerable young children and their caregivers.

By addressing perinatal mental health, early childhood trauma, and family stressors, the Pre-3 Program plays a vital role in promoting resilience, preventing deeper system involvement, and improving long-term outcomes for infants, young children, and their families.

 

The Supervising Mental Health Clinician will oversee a multidisciplinary team that provides clinical outpatient services to children and their families. The team may include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and peer support specialists (family partners). The clinical team may also include master and doctoral level interns/trainees and psychiatric residents.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Knowledge of trauma informed system of care principles and general services.
• Knowledge of program management techniques, system of care principles, and practices.
• Demonstrated expertise and skill in clinical work with infants, young children and families, young children with serious emotional disturbances.
• Experience providing clinical services for clients with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance use.
• Ability to provide clinical case management to support the team, as needed.
• Experience working with clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds and conducting outreach to underserved communities from a trauma-informed perspective.
• Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice modalities, e.g. Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Treatment, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Parent Child Interaction Training, etc.
• Knowledge of Medi-Cal and Medicare regulations and managed mental health care.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills.
• Strong supervisory/leadership skills which demonstrate an ability to direct and motivate a multi-disciplinary team.
• Collaborative skills and the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with consumers, families, professionals and the public; including collaborative community engagement to plan and implement needed services.
• Ability to make sound decisions and manage crises based on the exercise of judgment and the consideration of all available information.

 

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Function as the Unit Supervisor, and plan, assign, train, and supervise the work of a group of inter-disciplinary mental health professionals and interns.
• Plan, implement and coordinate all unit related activity.
• Participate in administrative staff meetings to formulate overall program plans and review ongoing operations.
• Establish and maintain program procedures which are consistent with federal, state and local laws governing mental health services.
• Monitor and consult with contract providers to ensure compliance with services requested by the County and to help determine jointly beneficial solutions to problem areas.
• Maintain unit records and collect statistical data for routine, evaluative and research purposes.
• Lead clinical meetings for cooperative planning of treatment and accountable case disposition.
• Facilitate development of training program for staff and interns.
• On occasion, the Unit Supervisor will conduct therapy for individuals, couples and families; and make diagnoses.
• When appropriate, conduct case management functions.
• Maintain patient/client case documentation adhering to state and division policy and procedures.
• Provide crisis consultation, support and triaging for clinicians and their clients
• Screen for new clients and their families.
• As needed, act as liaison for clients hospitalized.
• Provide guidance and support to clinicians in discharge planning, follow-up care, and triaging to clients and family members.
• Provide both client-centered and program-centered consultation to external agencies, institutions and individuals.
• Provide community education and information to external agencies, institutions and individuals.
• Perform related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Possession of a current California license in at least one of the following: Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapy.

 

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is a Master's degree in a mental health specialty, such as social work, nursing, or clinical counseling and two years of professional post-graduate experience in a mental health setting.

The County's Sustainability Department seeks well qualified applicants for the position of Sustainability Specialist III – Commute Alternatives Program (CAP) on the Climate Resilience team.
  
The Climate Resilience Program works on community and government operations hazard mitigation and adaptation, implements water quality regulations, supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in county operations, and administers Shift, the County’s employee commute alternatives program.

The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

 

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• State of California EMT or National Registry EMT certification
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations

About this Position:
Air Monitoring Projects and Technology (AMPT) is a section in the Meteorology and Measurement Division. Our team performs community air quality investigations using air monitoring vans and other equipment to assess air quality at local scales, particularly in disproportionally impacted communities. AMPT is also building a new team centered around developing, constructing, and operating multi-pollutant, ambient air monitoring stations in communities near refineries.

Including some administrative responsibilities, such as assisting with purchasing and maintaining the inventory of shop supplies, Senior Air Quality Specialists (Senior AQS) in the section help evaluate monitoring methods, test and install instrumentation and sampling systems, support monitoring activities, review data, and leading quality assurance to meet program requirements and community expectations. The Central County Fire Department (CCFD) is seeking a highly organized and dedicated part-time Coordinator to lead and support the activities of our local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). This vital position plays a key role in planning, organizing, and overseeing CERT training, coordinating volunteer engagement, and promoting disaster preparedness in the community.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Lead and coordinate CERT training programs in collaboration with CCFD personnel and instructors.

Under general direction of the Director of Transportation for the Bus Transit division, contributes to the mission of Golden Gate Transit by ensuring that Golden Gate Transit has the best possible trained Bus Operators. Instruct Bus Operators for safe operations of vehicles, uniform compliance, and enforcement of District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Document Bus Operator Students’ performance. Must be willing to work shift assignments from Santa Rosa, Novato, San Rafael, or San Francisco Division locations. May be assigned to perform other duties.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Conducts training class for newly hired bus operators, including obstacle course, classroom and “over the road” instruction by delivering standardized curriculum.
• Develops classroom curriculum, including itinerary, lesson plans, training and testing materials and implement training for newly hired and existing bus operators.
• Acts as designated D.M.V. examiner in the testing and certification of bus operators; or coordinates with D.M.V. to get student operators V.T.T. cards and license conversations.
• Maintains complete and accurate documentation on every facet of training and testing for each student as required and mandated by state and federal governments.
• Performs individual evaluations of student operators progress in the training program.
• Conducts ongoing Verification of Transit Training Classes for existing bus operators and other commercially licensed employees who need to maintain a V.T.T.
• Supervises Bus Operators fitness -for -duty as they report to work, including observing for divergencies from normal behavior patterns, uniform appearance, grooming and possessions of driving credentials and medical card.

• Works with the Director of Training and Safety on compliance with D.O.E., D.O.T., and D.M.V. training and documentation requirements
• Develops and implement minimum standards for bus operator trainees.
• Monitors progress of trainees and provide periodic counseling and progress evaluation.
• Conducts refresher training for bus operators returning to work after extended absence.
• Testifies on training or related fields at bus operator hearings, arbitrations, or trials.

• Re-trains bus operators as directed by disciplinary hearings on accidents or rule violations.

• Compiles and maintain "Training Subjects Manuals."
• Obtains and maintain appropriate certifications.

• Works with passenger relations and planning department to provide ADA training for persons with disabilities.
• Represents GGT as necessary and assist in the structure and the presentation of the annual Regional Bus Roadeo.
• Instructs and monitor operation of G.F.I farebox and radio systems.
• Observes and monitor safe operation of vehicles by riding with operators, contact and correct operators on safety procedures.
• Issues infractions and/or discipline for violations of safety policy and procedures.
• Ensures employees under their supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Performs driver safety observations by riding on board buses or observing from a moving vehicle or fixed location and provide written reports on these observations; and issues discipline for safety violations observed.

The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Case Manager (Case Management/Assessment Specialist II) will join the Behavioral Health Recovery Services (BHRS) Clinical Team to provide services to individuals housed at the Youth Services Center (YSC) – Juvenile Hall.

 

Reporting to the Supervising Mental Health Clinician/Unit Supervisor, the AOD Case Manager will support the complex needs of juvenile justice-involved as well as transitional-age individuals, presenting with severe emotional and behavioral challenges, along with multiple risk factors such as co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions, trauma, out-of-home placement, and psychiatric hospitalizations.

 

The AOD Case Manager will perform a wide variety of intake and referral services, including assessment, evaluation, tracking, and support services for clients receiving substance abuse treatment; develop and implement activities related to substance abuse prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation; and perform other related work as required.

• Help create effective evaluation reports, court reports, and/or clinical case reports, or templates for said reports.
• Attend staff conferences and related meetings to coordinate activities with other divisions of the department, other County departments and community groups and providers.
• Monitor compliance with court ordered or related criminal justice referrals.
