DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs lifeguard duties, enforces all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well-being of visitors and patrons. Perform related work as required, may include light cleaning and janitorial.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Active scanning and patron surveillance, practice preventive Lifeguarding.
• Enforce all rules and regulations.
• Recognize and respond professionally to emergencies, provide care as indicated under the scope of training, including activating EAP. 
• Assume assigned duties connected with care and maintenance of the facility.
• Maintain certain pool records and reports as required.
• Provide basic maintenance, equipment care and chemical pool testing.
• Deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees, other agencies, and the general public.
• Actively attend and participate in required staff training and in-service drills.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: current Lifeguard Certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard First Aid is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and react quickly to emergencies.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency and providing care according to the level of training.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Finance Officer, this position performs professional and technical work of a confidential nature in the area of general accounting. This position assists with the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the District, including accounts payable functions, deposits, maintenance of accounting and payroll records, and other tasks as assigned.

TYPICAL DUTIES

• Prepare and maintain a variety of ledgers, reports, and schedules

• Process accounts receivables/payables

• Prepare bank deposits

• Assist the Finance Officer with sewer service charge billings.

• Process purchase orders and other accounting processes and activities as needed

• Assist internal and external customers, provide information that may require judgment and discretion as well as interpretation of policies and procedures

The Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.

The Department

The City’s Volunteer Fire Department is older than the City itself, founded as a volunteer corps in 1861 to replace a U.S. Army fire brigade. The largest volunteer urban Fire Department in California has undergone change to become a combination department, composed of both paid and volunteer staff. In addition, the department provides Advance Life Support (ALS) services and responds to over 3,000 calls for service annually. Staffing includes a Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Marshal, six Fire Captains, six Fire Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and 10 Reserve Volunteer Firefighters. Dispatch is staffed through the Public Safety Dispatch Center housed at the Police Department. Ambulance services are handled through a countywide contract. The Position

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented problem-solver with a focus on public service. Recruits enter a training program to develop skills necessary to demonstrate abilities to respond to emergency fire and medical alarms, to protect life and property, to participate in fire suppression training and emergency medical training, to assist with station, apparatus and equipment maintenance, and to do related work as required. This position drives a Readi-Ride General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) on a demand responsive curb-to-curb transit system and assist patrons boarding and leaving the bus, especially the elderly, disabled, and school age children. May also assist in collecting information relating to the operation of the system; receive ride requests and organize the vehicle pick-ups and drop-offs; and, will work closely with the drivers and Transit Supervisor to ensure coordinated efforts.
