The Department:

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into seven divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library is in the process of finalizing and implementing its new Strategic Plan that will support the direction of future library services.

The Position:

This is a paraprofessional supervisory position in the classified service. Positions in this class are responsible for the supervision and direction of a work unit comprised of paraprofessional, clerical and/or Library Page staff. This recruitment is to fill a position at the Northside Branch Library. The person in the position will work closely with the Northside Library Program Coordinator in maintaining and improving day to day operations, customer service, effective material circulation and distribution, scheduling staff and volunteers, and may act as the back-up person in charge.  May also develop and support branch programming with librarians. This person should have strong communication skills, a team mindset and community-based outlook.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements:

Completion of sixty (60) semester units or ninety (90) quarter units from a college or university.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Three (3) years’ experience in customer or public service; paraprofessional library work; communication or digital communication; library technical services that may include ordering, procurement, cataloging, maintaining financial records and vendor engagement; community outreach or bookmobile operation. Of the required experience one (1) year shall include supervising the work of others or as a project leader AND one (1) year of experience must involve customer or public service or paraprofessional library work.

Acceptable Substitution:

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units up to two (2) years.

• Completion of an Associate of Arts degree in Library Technology may substitute for the required education, plus one (1) year of the required experience. This experience shall not be substituted for the one (1) year of experience supervising the work of others or as a project leader OR one (1) year of experience involving customer or public service or paraprofessional library work.

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Desirable Qualifications:

Two (2) years or more of customer service or public library experience

Building Inspector I/II

• Conduct combination field inspections of industrial, commercial, and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling; ensure proper and safe installations of routine and complex building systems; ensure building progress conforms to all applicable California Building Standards (Title 24, California Code of Regulations), City adopted codes and ordinances, and pertinent provisions of Federal, State and County health and environmental ordinances.
• Respond to emergencies when called upon by supervisor, or emergency dispatchers, to assist as technical expert in evaluation of safety.
• Issue permits for work to be performed.
• Review plans and specifications.
• Assist in the plan checking of residential and commercial projects.
• Participate in Fire Department and County Health Department inspections as required in one or more inspection disciplines such as electrical, plumbing, or mechanical.
• Coordinate inspection activities with other City departments to ensure compliance with conditions attached to projects by the Development Review Board, the Planning Commission or the City Council.
• Conduct inspections with the Code Enforcement officers to verify complaints and/or conditions violating building and zoning codes; conduct follow up inspections to check and verify that conditions are completed.
• Conduct inspections, prepare reports and serve as needed to assist the City Attorney in legal actions initiated by the Building Division.
• Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and complaints regarding the City's building inspection function.
• Advise property owners, contractors, and others on matters relevant to construction and repair methods and materials; interprets codes and regulations and explains inspection programs; investigates and resolves complaints and problems.
• Retrieve, investigate and analyze building, assessor's parcels, files and other computerized records from computer database as required.
• Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the general public in the field and office; explain and interpret requirements and restrictions; review reports from special inspection agencies, engineers, and architects relating to specific projects.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records and prepare reports.
• Monitor compliance, including after violations.
• Provide public assistance and information over the counter.
• Conduct review of complex technical documents for conformance with accuracy, industry standards, codes, ordinances, and regulations.
• Prepare reports, warning letters, citations, calculations, analysis, grants, diagrams, or technical materials for City, City Committees, public vendor, state and federal filings, and advisory reports.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures and make recommendations on programs and projects.
• Proficient in using computer software and specialized equipment relevant to job duties.

The City of Sunnyvale is looking for an Applications Analyst II to join the Information Technology Department (ITD). This position requires a service-oriented focus, ability to support and enhance our Oracle Cloud ERP & HCM applications, along with primary and secondary support roles for multiple enterprise systems including system configuration, reporting and interfaces, day-to-day operational issues, break/fix, maintenance, upgrades, and on-call rotations.

The City of Menlo Park is seeking engineering professionals, with exceptional technical and project management skills, for Senior Civil Engineer positions in the Public Works Department (Department) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Division. The Senior Engineer will lead capital improvement projects under the supervision of the City Engineer or Public Works Director. The CIP team delivers projects for City owned facilities including streets, buildings, storm and domestic water, and parks. • Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment.

Salary Information
The annual salary range for the classification for Wastewater Mechanic I/II is:

$87,089.60- $117,520.00

This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

Wastewater Mechanic - Maintenance Division
The Environmental Services Department is currently seeking to fill one full-time Wastewater Mechanic I/II position (also known as Industrial Maintenance Technician) in the Wastewater Facility Maintenance Division. These positions will work at the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility located at 700 Los Esteros Road, San Jose, CA, 95134.    

Wastewater Mechanics for the Maintenance Division are responsible for performing the full range of technical and mechanical tasks associated with the preventive and corrective maintenance of wastewater plant machinery and equipment. In this job, you may assist Sr. Wastewater Mechanics in the more difficult and complex duties. You will have the opportunity to attend training to understand the equipment better and keep current on trends. Mechanics are expected to work well independently and on teams.

The following is a partial list of Wastewater Mechanics typical responsibilities in the Maintenance section:

• Troubleshoot and repair wastewater buildings and equipment such as pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, blowers, grit removal systems, conveyors, mixers, clarifiers, chemical feed systems, and other related components.
• Fabricate and modify parts as needed using shop equipment including drill presses, ironworkers, band saws, pedestal grinders, and hydraulic shears. Welding knowledge is desirable.
• Operate bridge cranes, chain falls, lever hoists, and all associated rigging equipment.
• Perform scheduled equipment inspections to identify potential malfunctions and ensure continued operation.
• Determine spare parts inventory levels, initiate part replacements, and stock replacement parts accordingly.
• Use computer-based work order and inventory management systems to create, complete, and track maintenance tasks and parts usage.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for equipment, systems, and components; assist with maintaining and updating maintenance manuals.
• Interpret service manuals, parts manuals, and technical drawings to support maintenance and repair activities.
• Communicate with the supervisor regarding work progress, existing or potential issues, and suggestions for process improvements.
• Collaborate with other trades and on-site work groups to complete tasks efficiently.
• Attend required safety and technical training to stay current on equipment, procedures, and industry trends.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, problem-solving, teamwork, and customer service experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The ideal candidate will be able to conduct basic computer skills and be familiar with modern control systems (i.e. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). 

The Regional Wastewater Facility is a 24/7 operation serving the South Bay. Typical schedules for Maintenance Division Wastewater Mechanics are 4x10s. Wastewater Mechanics may be called upon to work overtime, holidays, or alternative shifts in support of the facility.

Wastewater Mechanic I

Education 
Successful completion of high school, General Educational Development (G.E.D.) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience
Two (2) years journey-level experience as a mechanic in hydraulics, wastewater treatment or a closely related industry or in operation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical and electrical equipment related to large stationary diesel and spark-ignited engines, and/or power generators; OR four (4) years’ experience assisting Wastewater Mechanics in the maintenance and repair of wastewater equipment at a level equivalent to Wastewater Attendant or Assistant Heavy Diesel Equipment Operator/Mechanic with the City of San José.

Wastewater Mechanic II

Education
Successful completion of high school, General Educational Development (G.E.D.) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience
Two (2) years journey level experience as a mechanic in hydraulics, wastewater treatment or a closely related industry or in operation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical and electrical equipment related to large stationary diesel and spark-ignited engines and/or power generators OR four (4) years’ experience assisting Wastewater Mechanics in the maintenance and repair of wastewater equipment at a level equivalent to Wastewater Attendant with the City of San José, OR completion of the Attendant Skills Knowledge and Evaluation(SKE) program and certification as Plant Mechanical Technologist Grade I from California Water Environment Association (CWEA) with three(3) years’ experience assisting Wastewater Mechanics in the maintenance and repair of wastewater equipment at a level equivalent to Wastewater Attendant with the City of San José; AND certification as Plant Mechanical Technologist Grade II from California Water Environment Association (CWEA).

Acceptable Substitution
Two (2) years of experience as a Wastewater Mechanic I may be substituted for the certification as Plant Mechanical Technologist Grade II.

Required Licensing
Possession of a valid State of California Class C driver's license.

• Move between/within work areas, including but not limited to sitting, walking, and standing on various surfaces, turning, bending, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements. 
• Identify problems or hazards, work in confined spaces and around machines, and climb/descend ladders. 
• Be exposed to unpredictable working conditions including but not limited to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances, fumes, dust, and air contaminants. 

Physical Requirement: This classification requires a pre-employment respiratory physical exam.
