We are seeking a hands-on, mechanics and electronics savvy Instrumentation Technician to join our Public Works Sanitation division. This position maintains, repairs, inspects, plans, modifies, designs, installs and calibrates instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA control systems for wastewater treatment facilities; maintains a spare parts inventory; and trains operations staff in the understanding of instrumentation and control systems related to the process operation.

Details:

• Full-time regular position, 9/80 schedule with every other Monday or Friday off.
• Salary range $35.80 to $45.70 hourly with Excellent Benefits.

Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in electronics or a related field.

About the Position:  The Farm Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and construction tasks at Deer Hollow Farm in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Deer Hollow Farm is an educational, working farm with cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and other livestock.  Duties include performing maintenance and construction tasks using hand and power tools, operating and maintaining Farm vehicles, and assisting with daily Farm operations. The Farm Maintenance Worker will also assist with basic support and care of animals; greet visitors and provide information to the public; and work with volunteers on farm-related projects. Working Conditions:

Overview:

The Senior Engineer (Electrical) is to provide specialized electrical engineering expertise, particularly related to low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems and low voltage motor control centers used in industrial facilities, including water treatment plants. This individual will serve as a subject-matter expert, support ongoing capital projects throughout all phases—planning, design, and construction, act as the Owner’s representative for electrical engineering, and manage consultants and professional services agreements. Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. For SVP Operations Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with communication and electrical power engineering. • An Engineer-in-Training Certification with ten (10) years of experience in electric utility engineering work can be substituted for the degree in engineering and the required experience indicated above

 

License/Certifications:

Possession of an appropriate, valid Class C California driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

• Registration as an Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineer in the State of California
• Experience using ESRI based Geographic Information System (GIS)

About the Position: The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest department with over 70 employees during construction season. As such, this position requires constant communication and alignment with team members and stakeholders.  This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and has direct supervision over one Administrative Assistant. This position plays a key role in supporting the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager with strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations.  The ideal candidate has solid public sector finance, budget, purchasing, project tracking, and asset management experience; possesses excellent judgment, curiosity, and proactive problem solving and time management skills; and can successfully manage many priorities at once while accomplishing professional-level administrative and program work. The successful candidate is detail-oriented yet can see the broader perspective; has a proven ability to build positive and productive relationships; possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and provides excellent customer service.  Flexibility and the capacity to work in a complex and fast-paced environment are a must. Work Environment: This full-time position is part of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department at Midpen’s Administrative Office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position following successful onboarding. A minimum of three days on-site in the office is required per week. This is primarily a sedentary office classification.  Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Some fieldwork may be required, which involves the ability to walk for short distances over rough terrain, drive vehicles over unimproved roads, and stand for extended periods.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, or a related field and three (3) years of professional analytical experience equivalent to a Management Analyst I at the District. Public sector experience is preferred and previous supervisory experience is desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

The Operations Liaison provides startup and commissioning supports to treatment plant and treated water pipeline projects. This position will serve as the subject matter expert on treatment technology, process and equipment used in water treatment and distribution systems, provide input and coordination in all phases of plant operation projects, represent the interests of the operations unit, and perform a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide operations and water treatment related input and recommendations during all phases of a project (planning, design, construction, startup, and commissioning). 
• Provide timely review and comments on submittals and requests for information (RFI) relevant to operations such as, but not limited to, construction scheduling, training, plant/process outage and tie-in planning.
• Assign and coordinate review of relevant documents by operations staff.
• Lead or coordinate the creation of shutdown/startup plans and procedures for a planned construction tie-in and/or commissioning of a treatment plant equipment or process. 
• Participate and assist with the creation and review of process and/or equipment start up and commissioning acceptance criteria and procedures such as checklists, test plans and templates.
• Attend project related meetings and communicate and coordinate with all stakeholders (management, operations, maintenance, project manager, construction manager, contractor, etc.) regarding active or planned construction activities to minimize and/or prevent impact to plant operations.
• Work closely with maintenance counterpart(s) to troubleshoot operations-related construction challenges, provide solutions and recommendations to resolve the identified operations/treatment process related challenges.
• May perform journey and/or advanced journey-level work, as necessary, in a class in the Water Plant Operator series.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Current and pending water treatment standards, regulations, and laws.
• State and federal regulations pertaining to the operation of a T-5 rated water treatment plant, including reporting procedures and requirements.
• Principles, practices, equipment, materials, and tools used in the operation of a treated water and recycled water facilities and equipment.
• Principles and practices of water treatment process engineering.
• Operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and chemical feed systems for water treatment plants.
• Operational characteristics and preventive maintenance of piping systems, including pipes, valves, and related appurtenances.
• Occupational health and safety programs.
• Water quality assurance and laboratory procedures.

Ideal Training and Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by six (6) quarter units in chemistry and six (6) quarter units in math from an accredited college.

Required License or Certificate Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.

Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator (T4) certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water.

Plant Maintenance Engineering & Commissioning Unit (Position Code 942) 
Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite.
