SUMMER AQUATIC STAFF POSITIONS
Salary Range: $17.37 to $30.68/hour; non-benefited, DOE and position offered

The Town of Danville strives to provide an aquatic environment that is safe, instructive and fun through recreational and lap swim, special events, the Learn to Swim program, Junior Lifeguard program and Lifeguard training classes.

PROGRAM LEADER (SWIM INSTRUCTOR/LIFEGUARD)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour

QUALIFICATIONS  
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age.  Required certifications by the end of Staff Training Week:  American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid (Lifeguard).  

Aquatics staff members generally work 3-5 hours per day, in morning, afternoon, or evening shifts at San Ramon Valley High School or Monte Vista Pools.  Most staff members will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. 

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Pool Managers, Program Coordinator and Program Supervisor, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring aquatic safety and providing instruction for pool patrons.  Swim Instructors/Lifeguards must enjoy working with children and the general public, be patient, reliable and have lots of energy.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 
Job duties include lifeguarding, swim lesson instruction, leading pool programming, mandatory staff training, pulling tarps, required daily fitness swims, and administrative duties, including some weekend shifts.  Also: 

• Provide aquatic safety and instruction for pool patrons.
• Use positive discipline and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT (SENIOR GUARD)

Salary Range: $18.52 to $30.68/hour

QUALIFICATIONS 
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age.  Required certifications by the end of Staff Training Week: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and it is preferable to have a Water Safety Instructor certificate as well. Senior Guards must have at least two years of lifeguard/swim instructor experience; leadership experience is highly desired.

SUPERVISION

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES   

• Schedules, trains and supervises performance of part-time staff.
• Provides valuable customer service skills by assisting the community with aquatic related issues.
• Provides operational site management by assisting class placement of participants.
• Teaches swim classes and acts as a lifeguard as needed.
• Maintains inventory of pool equipment and supplies, assure pool equipment is in excellent condition and arrange repairs as needed.
• Maintains proper and accurate attendance and cash handling records.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards. 

Under general supervision of the Chief Building/Fire Code Official or designee, performs complex and detailed inspections of structures for conformance to codes, ordinances, approved plans, calculations and specifications; reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications for compliance with codes, ordinances, energy and disabled access requirements; conducts investigations of suspected violations of the Municipal and Building codes, including code enforcement; may assist in training other Building Inspectors and providing direction to other technical and/or clerical staff, including temporary; employees. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the positions of Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer and Associate Civil Engineer for the Public Works Department in the Community Development and Services Agency. Associate Engineer: is the journey level in the civil engineer series. Under general supervision, incumbents independently conduct design, research and construction project inspection and analyses for a variety of projects within the county. Responsibilities may also include providing work direction to technical support staff.

Associate Civil Engineer: is the advanced journey level in the civil engineering series. Under general direction, incumbents perform professional engineer work and prepare civil design plans for various Public Works projects; independently conduct engineering feasibility cost, research and design studies and construction project work; analyses for varied department and agency projects and functions; signing off designs and as-built changes related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure and perform related duties as assigned.

The Environmental Assistant is a technical position that is responsible for assisting with a wide variety of projects and tasks in the solid waste and stormwater program areas within the Environmental Services Division. Assignments include field work, special events, public outreach, and administrative tasks. May work independently or in a team environment depending on project requirements.

The Veterinary Technician will assist in the care of animal patients at the City’s animal shelter. The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).
