The District observes a 4/10 work schedule, Monday-Thursday, 10-hour days. The regular work schedule for the Water Distribution Operator II position is 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Water Distribution Operators also perform Standby Duty on a rotating basis. Standby Duty begins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and shall end at 5:00 p.m. on the following Tuesday.

POSITION DESCRIPTION, DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Water Distribution Operators are directly involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of valves, mains, services, and related potable water distribution system facilities and equipment. Performs related work as required.

Water Distribution Operator II - This is the journey-level class in the Water Distribution Operator series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual, or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit.  Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level once the incumbent meets the qualification standards of the II level, demonstrates an ability to perform the full scope of the work, and meets performance standards.

• Experience:
  • One year of responsible experience similar to a Water Distribution Operator I with the District
• License and Certificate:
  • California Class C Driver’s License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Grade D2 Water Distribution Operator certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board within one year of hire.

The City of Dixon is looking to fill one full-time, regular vacancy for the position of Wastewater System Operator I/II and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. This position will perform the operation and maintenance of the City of Dixon's ("City"), Grade III, activated sludge wastewater facility, laboratory facilities, industrial pre-treatment program related property and equipment.

This position includes field, laboratory and office activities. Wastewater System Operator II: This is the journey level class in the Wastewater Systems Operator series and requires a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of California and is a fully qualified plant operator certified to independently operate a grade III wastewater treatment facility.

THE POSITION

This position receives general supervision from the assigned Director and will be considered a position that carries dual responsibilities. The selected candidate will exercise direct supervision over park maintenance workers, janitorial staff, and support service personnel.  He/she will be a working supervisor who provides leadership and direction to assigned staff while also functioning as a skilled tradesperson who is able to take the lead and fill in as needed, in any section of Parks and Facilities.

As Parks Supervisor, the incumbent directs and coordinates park maintenance employees and supports service crews.  

• He/she will oversee, coordinate and/or lead park and facilities personnel, support service crews, and park maintenance crews.
• Schedules and directs the work of assigned parks maintenance personnel, including ensuring parks and facilities are properly prepared for rentals and reservations.
• Works with crews to assure accuracy and compliance with City standards.
• Submits weekly logs of work in progress and jobs completed by crews.
• Responds to public complaints regarding parks projects through proper channels and informs appropriate staff of City standards and policies.
• Coordinates with the Recreation Division on all events to ensure parks and facilities are properly prepared; assigns staff to assist with events as needed.
• Performs employee evaluations for assigned staff.

As Facility Supervisor, the incumbent directs and coordinates maintenance, repair, and upkeep of City buildings and facilities, and supervises janitorial staff responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of City buildings and facilities.

• Performs a variety of work in the maintenance, construction, alteration, and repair of City buildings and facilities; identifies and corrects building and equipment problems to maintain facilities in a safe condition, prevent degradation of City property, and prevent failures that would cause reduction in service.
• Performs skilled work across multiple building trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, welding, and related crafts to maintain and repair City buildings, structures, and equipment.
• Inspects City buildings and structures to identify repair needs; evaluates conditions and recommends appropriate corrective action or modifications to meet City standards and building codes.
• Obtains estimates and quotes for materials and equipment needed for repairs and completion of job tasks; prepares reports of inspections and labor and material estimates for the Director.
• Supervises janitorial staff responsible for cleaning and sanitizing City buildings, facilities, and park restrooms; ensures facilities are properly prepared for rentals and reservations; monitors service standards and schedules.
• Performs general maintenance and janitorial duties as needed.
• Installs, programs, and maintains security camera systems at City buildings, parks, and facilities to ensure proper coverage and functionality.
• Performs and schedules preventative maintenance on City buildings, facilities, and equipment to minimize deterioration and reduce the need for costly repairs.
• Remains current on job-specific expertise through trade publications, vendor communication, and other sources to keep abreast of the latest technological developments and products.
• Performs related work as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Solving Problems and Performance of Others: Troubleshoots and resolves non-routine maintenance and repair issues across parks and building systems and independently determines appropriate corrective action. Supervises parks maintenance workers, janitorial staff, and support service personnel and performs building and facilities repair and maintenance work independently.
 

Relations: Internally works with supervisors, other construction and maintenance personnel, and all City departments. Externally represents the city and communicates with various outside agencies.
 

Communications: Communicates effectively in oral and written form; prepares accurate written reports; recognizes unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating conditions and takes appropriate action.

Safety: Daily exposure to hazardous conditions associated with tool and equipment usage and exposure to the elements while performing duties. Consequences range from minor injury such as scrapes, contusions, burns, and abrasions up to and including permanent disability or death.

The City of Dixon is opening a great opportunity for those curious to learn about the ins and outs of police work for the position of Police Cadet in the Police Department. Under the supervision of veteran Police Officer's the cadet experiences what it takes to develop important cadet skills. Refuse Truck Driver II

Receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May receive technical and functional supervision from a Senior Refuse Truck Driver.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Drives and operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including one or two-person-staffed refuse collection truck, front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; responds to afterhours call-outs if assigned.
• Maintains assigned truck by regular cleaning and washing, including inspecting for mechanical or other operating problems; reports mechanical or related problems for maintenance; may perform minor maintenance as appropriate.
• Operates hydraulic/mechanical controls to load, compress, and dump refuse; collects and disposes of debris on assigned route; transports refuse to/unload at appropriate landfill sites and/or sewage treatment plant.
• Assists with battery sorting, electronic waste collection, bin repair or delivery, cardboard removal, illegal dumping cleanup, and any other related solid waste program or assignment.
• Completes and posts notification tags on containers, bins and dumpsters for unacceptable contents for refuse collection.
• Prepares, maintains and submits records, reports and forms including time records, equipment and maintenance records, and route maps and logs.
• Responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Deputy Fire Marshal
Salary Range: $6,750.00 to $13,383.33 Monthly
 

This position will report directly to the Fire Marshal. The Deputy Fire Marshal is an advanced level position. Duties include, but are not limited to reading, interpreting, and enforcing all State statutes and regulations under the authority of the State Fire Marshal (SFM), and all standards as adopted by SFM as well as UCDH policies. This position will act as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas. This position will regularly lead projects of critical importance to the organization; these projects carry substantial consequences of success or failure. May direct programs with organizational-wide impacts that include formulating strategies and administrating policies, policies, processes, and resources. In this position, the individual will perform detailed inspections of buildings under the authority of the UCDH Fire Marshal’s Office. Provide fire and life safety education to occupants. Analyze hazardous materials and functional use of space during construction plan review and validate post-occupancy use for compliance. This position may serve as State Fire Marshal (SFM) Designated Campus Fire Marshal (DCFM) for the UCDH Hospital and other UCDH medical¬ related facilities. Note, that SFM has the sole authority to approve a candidate as an SFM DCFM.

Additionally, persons in this position are expected to perform plan reviews, construction inspections, and existing building inspections, participate in the Incident Command System, and understand and apply Joint Commission and CMS requirements, NFPA Standards, and California Code of Regulations.

Required Qualifications

• OSFM Fire Inspector 2A- 2D training class series and/or ICC Building Code Certification.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Office Assistant II is the full working level position in the office support series in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties. Incumbents perform a full range of office and administrative support duties including lead responsibilities over Office Assistants I, organization and coordination of work load, maintenance of a calendar and scheduling appointments, preparation of reports, agenda materials, resolutions and ordinances. This classification is distinguished from the next lower classification of Office Assistant I by the greater complexity of assignments and higher degree of independent action.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from administrative and/or management staff. May exercise functional and technical supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Include but are not limited to the following)

• Performs the duties assigned to classes in the Office Assistant series including organizing and coordinating work; sets priorities and meets deadlines; performs a variety of office administrative tasks such as purchasing requisitions, ordering materials and supplies, monitoring supply budgets, and keeping current reference materials and files.
• Types drafts and a wide variety of finished documents from recording devices, notes, brief written or oral instructions; compiles and maintains records and prepares reports; prepares agenda materials, draft reports, resolutions and ordinances; inputs, retrieves and references various computer data management systems such as financial and/or budget systems; attends meetings and records and transcribes minutes.
• Performs specialized and/or confidential records maintenance and retention functions; scans and enters documents to database; maintains and retrieves records and documents; posts and distributes public notices; assists with the compilation of various city agenda packets.
• Makes appointments and maintains a calendar; maintains tickler file; schedules and arranges meetings and makes travel arrangements; organizes meetings by notifying participants, making room arrangements, and preparing required informational materials; sorts and distributes mail received by departmental staff. 
• Provides follow-up and research information on inquiries and problems which require knowledge of services and programs of the City; resolves problems and responds to special assignments which require interdepartmental or staff communications; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves complaints.
• Receives and processes fees, enrollment charges, fines or other money; prepares receipts and balances money received; prepares rental agreements and reviews for completeness.
• Maintains petty cash, daily cash and daily revenue records; performs a variety of general accounting operations including, receivables and bank deposits; processes purchase orders and checks incoming orders.
• Maintains office equipment and facilities; requests and follows up on building maintenance and custodial services; operates and performs routine preventative maintenance on office machines including data/word processors, copiers, field dispatch equipment etc.
• Receives incoming telephone and may receive voice radio calls; secures and records information and uses radio to dispatch necessary City services.
• Demonstrates understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff, and the public.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (The following are a representative sample of the KSA's necessary to perform essential duties of the position.)

Knowledge of:
