The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.

The City of Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Teen Program/Camp Leaders, Assistant Camp Directors, Camp Directors who are interested in working 25-40 hours per week during the summer, planning, organizing, and conducting basic recreation activities in a variety of settings selected by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.

About the role:

This is the highest level classification in the management analyst series. The incumbent will act as a lead; be recognized as a technical specialist of the various technology systems for Human Resources functions and will be relied upon to provide expert consultation to meet user needs. The incumbent will act as a project manager over some aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Oracle and may act as a lead over some Payroll functions. About the Position: The Library Activity Leader supports the Makerspace at the Downtown Library and potentially at the library branches and outreach events. They work with the library staff to create and deliver a variety of programs for children related to robotics, coding, and other STEM education concepts.  They may support additional Makerspace programming related to 3D printing, laser cutting, Cricut, machine sewing, and art projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Completion of 30 semester units from an accredited college or university (60 units or more is preferred). REQUIRED: Attach a copy of college transcripts to application.

License or Certificate:

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license maintaining a satisfactory driving record.

Other Requirements:

• Must be 21 years old by the examination date.
• Physically capable of passing the California P.O.S.T. medical examination job requirements.
• Meet all regulatory requirements for becoming a Peace Officer with a California P.O.S.T. agency.
• Ability to perform the duties of a Police Officer observe and recall accurately; use and care for firearms; think and act quickly in emergencies; learn, understand, and interpret laws and regulations; understand and carry out oral and written directions; prepare concise and comprehensive written reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Planning Intern

The Department

The Position

The Planning Intern will support the Community Development Department - Planning Division with research-based projects and assist staff with minor permit review. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in municipal planning, exposure to development review processes, and an understanding of how planning policies are implemented at the local level. The intern will work closely with planning staff and gain practical insight into zoning, land use regulations, and public-sector planning operations.

Duties: The primary projects will most likely include the following:

•    Conduct research related to land use planning, zoning regulations, and special planning initiatives
•    Assist planning staff with minor permit review
•    Help organize and analyze planning data, maps, and project materials
•    Prepare summaries and other written materials to support planning projects
•    Assist with updating planning documents, handouts, and internal resources
•    Participate in staff meetings and observe planning processes, as appropriate
•    Provide general administrative support to planning staff as needed

Minimum Qualifications

•    BA/BS Candidate in City Planning, Architecture, Public Policy or a similar discipline
•    Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills; effective written and oral communication
•    Interest in municipal planning and public-sector work
•    Familiarity with land use planning concepts or zoning regulations
•    Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
 

Time Commitment

Flexible Schedule, up to 40 hours a week. Each intern is able to work a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

Compensation

$25.08 – 30.02 per hour

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Library Activity Leader supports the Youth Services and Neighborhood Libraries Divisions working year-round at the family friendly Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library.
